My Mommy's Gonna Write a Trippie Report all about Me & Mickey Mouse! (Pictures & all)

Wow - your trip is here. How's the knee? I haven't visited the thread recently!!! Maybe we will run into you at the parks this weekend - most likely MK and/or EPCOT. I'll be looking for that adorable little face of your DD!

Hey Makinorlando....thanks, I was looking for your little girl too but never did spot you guys! You are SOOOO lucky to live so close to WDW!!!

ORLANDO ARRIVAL, DOLPHIN CHECK-IN & A REAL SURPRISE FOR ME!!
As our plane landed and I looked over at our DD, I couldn’t help but smile. The time had arrived and we were off on an adventure of a lifetime. Now since we were staying at the Dolphin for the first 3 nights, we were not eligible for Disney’s Magical Express. Initially this bummed me out but I managed to reserve a car pickup and it worked out just fine. In fact it was probably even better this way. We had a quick stop at one of the local grocery stores, where DH dashed in for some milk and juice. The one thing we do not want to be without is milk for the little one. Boy does she love her milk!

It didn’t take long before we pulled up to the Dolphin Resort. Cars and people were everywhere and I thought oh my goodness this place is packed! I secretly hoped this was not a sign of what was to come. After all, this was to be one of the least crowded times of the year. No real worries though, I was determined nothing was going to ruin this trip. Lines, crowds, whatever…we were here as a family and we were going to have fun no matter what. We paid the driver and waited outside with our bags for maybe 15 minutes. Now I suppose one of us could have gone to check-in while the other waited outside but for some reason we didn’t. We stood there watching our little one run around, all excited, drinking a juice pack. She kept saying, “we’re at Disney, we’re at Disney”. Her comment struck me funny because I know if we had never stepped foot into one of the actual parks, she would still have had the time of her life. That’s one of the best things about two year olds. They can have fun doing just about anything, including running around the outside of a hotel. Here are a couple pictures of my excited one outside the Dolphin that first evening.

(Note: These pictures are not the best as I had the wrong settings on my camera. Guess I just better go back and reshoot them...hahahaha)

She was just having a good ole time.

Once inside, we realized there was a huge convention going on…. a baseball convention. “Baseball’s Winter Meetings” to be exact. People were all over the lobby. Not just any kind of people…but BASEBALL people. OMG, what a sight! I told my DH, “Wow, look, handsome guys everywhere”. He just smiled and gave me one of his rolling eye looks. Haha!

As the little one and I walked around the lobby checking out the humongous Christmas tree, DH stood at the check-in counter. For not having to wait in any line, it was taking quite some time, so DD and I walked over to see what was going on. I thought maybe there was something wrong. Had they possibly lost our reservation or given our room away? We used all our Starwood points to get three “free” nights and had booked the room months in advance. As I approached, I noticed my DH looked upset. This was not a good sign. He said something quietly to the woman on the opposite side of the counter and then she disappeared. When I asked him what was going on, he just looked at me with this strange look on his face. I was like, “come on tell me what’s going on”. He informed me he would be right back and he walked away. Now if I did not have a rambunctious toddler at my heels and tons of people in the lobby I would have followed him. A few minutes passed and he suddenly returned. Again I asked him what was the matter. Then I saw it - a wicked grin. He was up to something that was obvious. Immediately, I assumed he’d managed to get us some sort of special room upgrade. I started smiling and told him, “That’s it, you got us upgraded”. He denied that and claimed they just had a problem finding our reservation. All the way up to the room, he was acting strange and I was sure we had been upgraded. However, it didn’t take me long to realize I was wrong. I was at a loss regarding his peculiar behavior.

Here are a couple pictures of the little one in the lobby.

This is one of the chandeliers in the Dolphin lobby. I just thought it looked kinda cool and thought I would share it with you.

After checking out the awesome view we had of MGM’s Tower of Terror and unpacking a few things, I was ready to head off to Downtown Disney. Reservations at the Rain Forest Café were awaiting us and my tummy was growling. The only problem was DH was poking around, taking forever. Just as I was about to say something, there was a knock on our door. Grinning, DH ran to answer it.

There at the door was one of the bellhops with a huge basket of goodies and an adorable Christmas gift bag. Tears came to my eyes and I was in shock. My DH never, ever, ever does anything remotely like this. Nope, not ever!!! Not ever, ever, ever! Never! How had he come up with this one? He was grinning from ear to ear when I hugged him and thanked him for such a wonderful surprise. This trip was off to a wonderful start.

Our little one couldn’t wait to open the Christmas bag, which had her name on it. Inside she found an adorable Mickey Mouse dressed as one of Santa’s Elves. After hugs and kisses for her new little friend, DD wanted to open the basket of treats. Here are a few pictures from our wonderful surprise.

She can read...hahaha. It's that independant stage, wanting to do everything herself. So fun to watch.

Oh, and I guess I should explain a little on why DH was frustrated down in the lobby. He told me he had ordered our surprises and requested they be in our room upon arrival. When he tried to confirm it at check-in, he was told they knew nothing about any presents. Somehow they had gotten lost and he was getting very upset. Remember, he had never done anything like this for me at all and he had been so excited to surprise me. He was bummed the goodies were not in our room when we got there. I assured him that it didn’t matter, it was still very much a surprise and I loved it.

Up next…Downtown Disney.

Hi Dani...don't give up on your DH!! I never thought in a million years that mine would ever come up with something like this either. It was a total shock and such a pleasant surprise. I never asked him how he came up with it, I don't really care how, I am just glad that he did. It really was sweet! Hahaha.

Oh and I got that Donald Duck at our local Disney store here!

Just started reading your report today, you are doing a fantastic job! Your husband is so sweet for thinking of that! Your little gilr is such a cutie pie!!

I just got back from my trip to WDW on Saturday, now I am dealing with withdraw and I am using trip reports to fill hat empty space. I can't wait to read about the rest of your trip!!

Alyssa88 - Aww thanks for reading along. I know all about those Disney withdrawls. I am having a hard time with it. I wanna go back NOW!! Hahaha. I have been home a month now and I'm still craving Disney.

tink's girls - Thank you for such kind words and for reading along. It really is nice to know I have readers! Hehe.

Nurse Mommy4 - Oh I am so glad you like the pictures. I used a Nikon D70, it is a great camera but I am still learning all the features of it. I will be posting more soon I hope!;)

My DH has a D70 and he loves it when we last visited all the photopass people were using D70's and they gave him some tips. Also last Christmas I bought him a day's training at the Nikon centre which was solely about the D70, he had a great time. The only trouble is it's so big to carry in the parks (although he has that job not me. :cool1: )so we're looking at getting a really good compact for WDW next time.

Hi GREAT job! You have me hooked, keep the report coming! And your DD is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Joan

Oh oh!! I have been waiting so patiently (not) for you to start posting your trip report. I have a Nikon D50 and I am still learning how to use it. I can't wait to see more! We leave in 16 days so it is perfect timing to get me pumped for my trip!!! :cool1:
