I know so many of you here have lost your dear loved ones and can understand the profound emotions that surround the loss.

My mom passed away yesterday and of course I am so, so, saddened but I am so relieved that she is finally at peace.

She had Parkinson's Disease and it seems like not a lot of people know the effects of it, but it is a horrible disease. She struggled for the past 10 years, suffered for the past 2 1/2. She stopped eating much a month ago and stopped eating and drinking completely 12 days ago. She was put into in-house hospice 10 days ago and I can't believe how long she lasted for. She finally had no pain for the 10 days, but it was hearbreaking watching her. I spent a week by her side, day and night. Even though she could no longer speak, she was able to commmunicate some things clearly. We spent many special moments. Those days were the most special gift I could ever have. She was such a kind, loving, beautiful woman who left bits of the world a wonderful place. I will miss her so much and pray she is in a better place.

Thanks for letting me share this with you~

So sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and your family. She sounds like a very special lady.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

If it makes you feel any better, my mother, though she didn't have Parkinson's, ended up not eating or drinking for weeks before she passed away. In everything I had read about it at the time, it is reported to be a very peaceful and painless way to die.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Yes, Parkinson's is a terrible disease. I'm sorry she suffered so, and I'm glad she is finally at peace.

minniebeth - I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mom.

It was wonderful that you got to spend that precious time with her.

Sending you prayers for peace and comfort in the days ahead. I miss my mom so much too! Sending you my deepest sympathy.

:hug:I'm sorry for the loss of your mother.
My DH's aunt had Parkinson's. It was a lot of sad years before she died.

Minniebeth - you have my sympathy.

Even when you're "expecting" this, it's tough when you realize the finality. Hospice was so very helpful for the short time that we had them here at home for my Mom.

I'm so sorry. Your words are a beautiful tribute to your Mom. It sounds like she was a truly wonderful woman.
May you continue to find strength and peace in knowing that she is no longer in pain. And know that she'll always be watching over you and the rest of your family.

I am so sorry for you loss.

I lost my dad almost 6 months ago. Like you mom, he was in in home hospice for about 8 days. I was with him every moment. Literally for the last 3 days, I did not even sleep, my brother and I just sat next to him holding his hand those entire three days.

Although, I miss him terribly, I know he is at peace now. He was really suffering those last 9 months and so I know he is in a better place now. I think about him everyday but like you, I know I have my own guardian angel now.

Many hugs and prayers for you and your family in this hard time.
