My mom & Her liver

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss, you made me cry. You were a wonderful daughter and I can feel the love between the two of you.:hug:

I am so very sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you for comfort and peace during this difficult time.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Darsa. I can tell from what you've said how very much you loved your mom, and I know she knew it too.

{{hugs}} I am sorry for your loss. It must be especially sad to lose your mom on your birthday.

I remember when you started telling about your mother's illness. I'm so sorry to hear how it has ended. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

PLEASE PLEASE do not think of this as something you could have fixed. You do not know what the outcome would have been. You cannot take on that kind of guilt. Please at some point if you keep feeling like this talk to someone. You had nothing to do with the outcome of the liver failure. Do not take this on your shoulders.

Your dis family is here for you. You are a wonderful daughter, don't ever doubt it.

Well...

Forty years ago today, my mom said hello to me for the first time, as she brought me into the world on 3/25/1970 at 2:17 AM (sorry it was so early!).

Today, on 3/25/2010 at 6:15 PM, I had to say goodbye to her for the last time as she passed away peacefully at MassGeneral Medical Center. Her liver was too deteriorated for me to be able to donate only a part, and she was too sick to have the operation to have a whole liver transplanted. My dad, husband, daughter and myself were all there to say goodbye, and they removed all of the tubes that attached her to this life, and she slowly faded away. They tell us she was in no pain, and that she went peacefully.

I'm so sorry I wasn't able to help you mom... I would have done anything. I wanted to; we were so close. I'm sorry I wasn't faster, or skinnier when all this began; I wish I had KNOWN.

I love you mom. I am so sorry :sad1:

Rest in peace, and say hi to gram for me... :littleangel:

My condolences, Darsa. Losing your mom is so tough. Hang in there.

Thank you so much, everyone. Between preparing for the funeral and trying to keep my dad in line, it's been a busy week! I'm back at work today, thank goodness, because I needed something normal to do. We'll be having the funeral service on Saturday, April 3rd; the funeral home director mentioned that that Sunday was Easter, and I went  I had totally dropped that from my mind...

I wrote the obituary myself, which surprised the funeral home director; apparently that's not something that's normally done? :confused3 Our family has had precious few funerals (thank goodness) so this is all pretty new to me. He was happy with what I wrote, anyway, and left it as it was. It wasn't anything extra-special, it was just... about my mom.

If you're interested, here is the obituary that ran. I only wish the picture showed in the online obituary; it was a gorgeous picture of her, taken just last summer.

I miss her so much... I just want my mom :sad1:

I'm so sorry Darsa. I know how hard it is to lose a parent. I wish I could convince you not to feel guilty.

I lost my mother about 8 months ago right after a liver transplant. I know what you are going through. Her death came as a shock when she suffered a heart attack 1 month after her transplant. I am going on strongly as I know that my mother does not have to suffer any more painful medical treatments.

My prayers are with you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Please try not to feel guilty.

You did a lovely job on your mother's obituary. I am so sorry for the loss of your special mother

 You did a terrific job on the obit. I don't know if I could have done so well in your shoes.

My sincerest condolences to you and your family.

Oh Lord - I am so sorry. I missed this when you originally posted.

I'm so very sorry for your loss, truly.

RE: The obituary.

It's beautiful. Wonderful. You did a really good job, and made it so much more personalized.
