I have read lots of bad reviews of Alamo and I just wanted to add a positive review. We booked a full size for 7 days using the Family Fun code (get a certificate for a free children's Character breakfast) and a Sam's club $15 off coupon. The total cost including tax was $137.XX.
We arrived at the Alamo counter at 5:45 pm on Sunday May 25th. Alamo counter had a line, but no other counters did. No big deal to me, since the next cheapest rate I could get was with National for $167.XX. I figured 15 minutes of my time for a savings of $30 was just fine. We get to the head of the line. There were no pressure sales just asked us if we wanted the extras, we said no and that was it. We got our certificate after asking for it though but she was very courteous about it. Only took 5 minutes to check in.
After a short walk we got to the full size aisle. There weren't many cars left, just a few of the Buick Century, a Monte Carlo, and a smaller car. I was worried that we wouldn't fit in a full size with 3 adults and two children in car seats plus all of our luggage. Well to my surprise the Buick Century was perfect. My mom sat in the back with the 2 car seats and her shoulder didn't even touch the car seat. There is even a bench seat with a 3rd seatbelt in the front. The trunk was huge and fit 3 carry-on luggage, 2 medium size luggage, 1 large piece of luggage, and 1 Peg Perego Pliko Matic stroller.
The car had 8000 miles and drove great. It was so quiet and smooth. Returning it was only a 3 minute process and super easy. Gas for the week cost us only $15 dollars.
Well for anyone who is nervous about Alamo, don't be. The wait was minimal, the service was great, and car very comfy and roomy. Well worth the cost!!
