My Magical Journey to Running the Half Marathon TR Link! p.107

Happy Summer! :goodvibes It's been hot here for a while now so it seems like the season started weeks ago. :cool2:

I thought I would post a few pictures. Obviously, there must be a new picture of puppy! :yay: This was taken after his first grooming session a couple of weeks ago:

And it's been a couple of months since I posted an updated picture of my progress.

And the current picture taken yesterday:

Sully spent last week at an overnight 4-H camp in North Carolina and had a blast. Tomorrow Owen starts a short summer cooking camp. Connor is going to be doing a science camp in a couple of weeks.

The best news is we will have Chuck home in a little over a month!! :cool1: :cool1: It has been a very long year and I can't wait until we can be a "normal" family for a while.

I haven't gained back any of what I've lost, but I haven't been the most motivated person with regard to eating and working out for the past few weeks. Heck, make it more like the past month or two. :rolleyes1 But, I want to lose at least another six pounds before Chuck comes home. One of my early goals when I started this PTR was to lose 30 pounds and that's still very important to me before I begin training harder. I need someone to light a fire under me! ;)

I just found a training program at Jeff Galloway's site for running a 10K. It's 13 weeks long so I need to hold off a few weeks before I start it since my 10K isn't until the end of October. That gives me a short amount of time to lose those extra six pounds.

One of the things I really miss about the C25K program is how motivating it was for me. I need something new to keep me focused. Any suggestions?

Baxter is so cute in his little bandana.

You look great -- I can't believe you still have six pounds you want to lose! Hurray for Chuck being home soon! That will be fantastic -- I am sure you have all missed each other a lot!

Isn't he?? :goodvibes

Actually, I have six pounds to get to where I was when I got married. Then I have another 20 - 30 pounds to get to the high end of what I should weigh for my height. :guilty:

Baxter really is adorable!! :goodvibes

And you look fantastic! Sorry, I'm not a runner so I don't really have any suggestions for motivation, other than what you've already talked about. Chuck coming home & wanting to lose 6 more pounds sounds pretty motivating to me!!

Baxter is just too cute! :)

Yay for Chuck coming home in a month. :cool1: I can't even imagine a year without Jeff...I give you a ton of credit for the sacrifice you and your family make. Thank you.

You look FABULOUS! I've been less than disciplined lately too..how are we going to fix that?? :confused3

Glad you checked in! I'm sure it will be a busy summer, but don't be a stranger! ;)

What a precious little guy!

Yay, yay, yay for Chuck coming home! :woohoo:

People who sit a couple of rows up from me in church have their son (only child) coming home from Iraq in August, and they are so excited. :goodvibes

As for losing weight, just come to Tennessee right now and mow the yard one time. You will sweat away six pounds. ;) It is stifling hot here these days.

:cheer2: You look great!!!! :cheer2: Afraid I am not much of a motivator, I need one myself. Haven't run in a few weeks, waiting on Jonas to pass the PT test and my heel is still bothering me. Running may not be for me, but I do want to try again.

Baxter is such a cutie, but you already know that.

And so happy your time away from Chuck is almost over. He'll be home before you know it.

Have a great first day of Summer!

That is motivating! :thumbsup2 I've ordered a bunch of dresses to pick from for his homecoming and I want to look my best when he finally walks off that ship. I can't wait to get a before and after picture of him and I together since he's also lost 20 pounds.

Thanks Missy  We need to come up with something! We should set some sort of goals to work on together. :thumbsup2

How wonderful for that family! :goodvibes

It's been pretty hot and humid here, too. I try to stay inside in the A/C! I'd love to come mow your grass though. I'm sure one time would be enough. :rotfl:

Hi Carissa - havent been on dis much lately but just wanted to say you look amazing-well done!:thumbsup2

Hey there girl! I've been thinking about you. Thanks for stopping by. How's everything with you?

:cheer2: You look great!!!! :cheer2: Afraid I am not much of a motivator, I need one myself. Haven't run in a few weeks, waiting on Jonas to pass the PT test and my heel is still bothering me. Running may not be for me, but I do want to try again.

Thanks! Planning on hitting the beach after lunch. Have to work on my tan for my homecoming dress. :rolleyes1

great job on the weight loss carissa. You look wonderful! Chuck is going to be excited when he sees you. I hope the next month flies by. I couldnt imagine going that long without having my husband at home. I so admire all the men/women and their families that commit to serving our country. Im sure you are very proud!

I too am having trouble keeping motivated with running. I can easily do 4-5 miles now and Im getting a little bored. Since the half training for me does not start until novemeber I think I need to find something to do in between. the 10K plan looks good. Im might start that but I am having trouble finding a 10K race near me. Its alot of 5K's or halfs. I agree that it is so much easier to follow a plan.

Good luck!

Thanks! It's definitely been tough since finishing the C25K. I don't think I push myself enough because there isn't any certain amount of time I'm supposed to run, you know?

I know once my husband gets home and I can start running outside, things will get a bit more exciting for me as that will be an entirely new experience.

It will be a change for you to run outside. Dont get discouraged. The first few runs might feel like you havent prepared at all but after a few you most likely will never want to run on the TM again. Anyways that how I felt. I love running outside now and havent touched the TM in a long while!

Just do it again. Up everything about 3%.

Your last picture looks really great, and your new capri's look to big on you. My kids keep telling me to get rid of my capri's that are to big. When I walk, they are falling off my butt, and I either have to hold them up when I walk, :rotfl::rotfl: I need to pack them up and put them away or give them away.

You look amazing!!

I can't imagine how excited you are for Chuck's return!!

That is an intereting idea!

My new capris definitely aren't too big - they're a bit tight in fact! ;) I find that larger size capris always have the cuff too big. Bugs me!

You look amazing!!

Thanks Cherie - And, yes I am!!!! :rolleyes1 :yay: :woohoo:

The worms! How is the worm composting going? I must know! Are they surviving the heat?

Glenn! They're worms!! :rolleyes1

I don't know how they're doing, honestly. I'm too scared to open the lid! I'll let Chuck handle it when he comes home. If they don't survive, they turn into compost. And that will help some trees and plants grow. It's all called the circle of life! :teacher:

But you have to feed them! Newspaper at least. Make it "The Times" or something respectable, you don't want them reading "The Enquirer" or "The Star". And you have to water them! The goal was for them to make compost, not be compost. :rotfl:
