my magic+ box? with jump drive in it?

We just got ours today, and our trip isn't until May! Are these flash drives actually usable? I mean, besides watching the 2 min videos?

We have five separate stays in Jab/Feb (don't ask!) and received five of these. Such a waste of money. We also have every MagicBand color (2 bands from October already) which is equally a waste.

Got ours Saturday for our Easter week trip that was booked at our 11 mth window. Our neighbors are on a cash room and they got their the same exact day. It's really cool how it's themed but the cost factor is a waste in my opinion. I hope I don't these for each trip. 3 a year and maybe more for other dvc members would be a crazy waste of money!

Not a specific DVC thing. We have a typical ressie, booked through Disney, for a May 4 arrival and we got ours today.

We thought ours was a duplicate drive when we got a second one but then discovered it is actually for our Memorial Day trip, not Feb.

We got the package yesterday for our 4/17 one night stay. The magnet on the last page of the booklet should mention your stay details, in case ou can't figure it out!

Yes, we had a shipment of Magicbands for our past Thanksgiving trip, and now are set for 3 more (we have separate trips in April, May and June).

I think the flash drives (which we did not get for Thanksgiving) are a response to confusion about the Magicbands.

It is an awful lot of expense. Especially since the 4GB flash drive only has 2 96kB files on it - the video is actually stored online! Well, a neat gift.

There are some things that remain a mystery about Magicbands:

1) How do you a previously used band to a new reservation? This would reduce the need for new bands.

2) How do you change your PIN? they had us pick out PINs at checkin, but that PIN never worked - only the one I assigned online. Unfortunately, I forgot what I assigned to other Magicbands! So I could use mine, but no one else could.

3) The bands only work after you've all swiped your hotel room - so if your room isn't ready, you can't use it to charge, open the pool gate or car gate, etc.

Which is hilarious because the whole point of plugging in the drive is to take you to MDE to show you how to access what you would already have had to at least had a basic knowledge of in order to get the drive! Too funny!

Got it for our May trip but not for our Jan trip. The Jan trip is linked in MDE and the May is not - so perhaps they are trying to get DVCers to link future trips?

The info linked to the flash drive itself is cute. It's also deletable and can be repurposed. I was able to encrypt the jump drive and use it for work.

I arrived at WDW on October 10, but never received the flash drive package. I did receive the Magic Band in the mail, along with 2 emails that I can pick up my Magic Band at my resort when I arrive. This apparently was caused by my staying at 3 different resorts.
So I entered my first room, at OKW (I booked Hospitality House 11 months out, but when I arrived, I was told there was no HH availability). I left to get my back, and the MagicBand no longer worked.
Then when I checked into BCV, I got a new box with a new band. Even though the "old" band opened the new door.
Then when I checked into VGF, I got a new box with a new band. Never used it--I used the band from BCV.
Why do I need 3 bands, all loaded with exactly the same information? And people complain about government waste!

They weren't sending out the drives at that time. I got mine for my checkin on Jan 7th and on Jan 8th.

Right now they are sending out MBs for each reservation we have. I highly doubt this will continue, but it's what is happening now. I have 4 consecutive reservations for January, so we got 4 boxes over a week's time. I found it to be fun; I now have all colors (including grey) except for yellow. And we'll repurpose the boxes, too. Nice, sturdy boxes!

Surprised that we got one yesterday for a May trip. Just in time, because I plan to re-purpose the box and jump drive. They'll make a perfect way to give photos from our most recent trip with the grandkids as a stocking stuffer for their mom & dad. The Incredibles photos inside the box come out easily leaving a plain Mickey Mouse box and jump drive.

We got ours after we'd already scheduled our FP+ selections etc. I thought it was pretty lame that it came AFTER the fact. Waste of money. It would've been fun if it had come first. Our MB's came via UPS today.
