My Little Princess is Turning 8 trip report. Completed

WOW! Nichole great job on this report! Your kids are sooooo cute! I HATE the last day! So many tears always and it never matters how long you stay! We loved POP too but there is def. more room to spread out in the deluxes (never stayed at a mod). I am glad Kaylee had such a magical trip. Your plans for Oct. sound awesome! I will keep Thomas in my prayers! Please keep us posted as to how you all are doing. I will be thinking about you!:goodvibes

Great ending Nichole,
I will defintely keep Thomas in my prayers and keep me posted, also maybe I will bump into you when you come to SI LOL.

Great report. I have been away in Mexico so I have not been on the boards in a while. I will keep Thomas in my prayers. He will be ok.
I have just been going through a situation in my own life. It started at the end of February and right before I went on vacation, my doctor called to tell me what I had. Sometimes the wait is the worst part. Please let us know what happens... Big hugs to Thomas. :cloud9:

Fabulous trip report....I always wonder if a short trip will give us a disney "fix" or make us sad that we couldn't stay longer. I guess a little disney is better than no disney at all!!

Thanks for a great trip report!! Watch out for POP, my kids love it there.....way more than a deluxe (sniff, they always want to stay there, even more than POLY!).

What is the Safari Dinner that you mentioned?

Have a great summer, I know that you will be busy planning your next trip!

Hi Jeanine,
Thanks for reading and keeping my little boy in your prayers. you never know we might run into you. I think we are spending 2 days in SI in July.

Great report. I have been away in Mexico so I have not been on the boards in a while. I will keep Thomas in my prayers. He will be ok.

Thanks so much for reading. I agree the kids seem to like the value resorts almost as much as Poly. You have a great summer too. The Grand Gathering safari is for parties of 8 or more staying in Disney resorts. You have to be booked under a grand gathering and you do Not have to be staying at the same resort. I didn't know last October that when my DB's family was there we would have been able to book this. I thought since we stayed at different resorts, they are able to link the reservations. Here is the link to info for that in case your interested.

Love your POP pictures - makes me want to be there right now!

I can feel the sadness coming through in your writing of your last day. :sad2: At least you wil be back soon - sounds like it will be a great trip with your friends. I guess I need to start booking my ADR's for October too. :rolleyes1

Please keep us posted on Thomas - he is in my prayers.

And a possible move to Florida??

I'm so sad it's over. Poor Kaylee. I see a future CM in her!:rotfl: Thanks for sharing your ups and downs with us. It sounds like a wonderful bday for Kaylee. PLEASE keep us updated on Thomas. You are all in my prayers.

Our next Disney trip will be in October 2008  . I was really not sure which resort would be best. First I booked WL because we love it there and Thomas was not here yet on those trips. He would love it there. Kaylee also voted for WL. Well then I decided to save a few $$$ this year because we want to get new furniture for our house and some new stuff for our yard and pool this year. To save a bit I switchd to POFQ. Hopefully we will like it, at least it will be sort of quiet and relaxing. But I have 5 months so may change to WL, AKL, or maybe a split stay with Pop/ BC. Thank you all so much for reading :grouphug: without my DIS friends it would be no fun to write.

Any time we've ever been to POFQ it has been peaceful, quiet, and lovely. If you decide to cut the cost by staying there, you can alway go over to Wilderness Lodge on one of your days to spend some time. Make an ADR for Whispering Canyon, take the bus over, shop, eat, catch the geyser, take a picture by the Mickey totem pole, maybe go over to Fort Wilderness for the campfire and movie. That might be a fun evening and a way to get some WL time in and still save some money.

We will be thinking of you all and praying for great results for Thomas. We will be looking for your reports with all good news! Hopefully, Jill, John, and Brooklynn can meet you guys in October and all that you are going through now will be a distant memory.

Great report... thank you so much for sharing it with us. I am glad Kaylee had such a wonderful birthday at WDW :thumbsup2 Congrats on going back in october

Even I was sad reading about your last day!:sad2: I know we usually stay at least a week, and by the time our week is up, I'm ready to go home, so it must have been hard to leave after such a short trip. But your trip report was so awesome, I may have to go back and re-read your last one for a trip report fix!:rotfl:

I saw in your photo from POP that you were wearing flip flops.....I have worn crocs and my birks in disney, but I'd like to pick up a good pair of flip flops to wear in the park. Do you like yours? Do you have any advice on ones that would be good in the parks?

I can only imagine how much stress you are under, and will be under until the end of May. But try to think your happiest thoughts and like you said, plan your trip as a celebration of making it through this tough time. And know that so many people are praying for you, and thinking about you and your family. You have lots of friends, and we're here to listen if you need to vent!

Looking forward to our October trip. I think I might change resorts today, I had a nightmare about POFQ :headache: . Sounds crazy :scared: but it made me want to switch it was so scary. Darn I was so looking forward to going there and Thomas loves the pics of the slide and the boat to DTD sounded great too. I have never heard anyone say they had a bad dream about a Disney resort. I guess I'm more stressed than I thought. So now the question is CSR or CBR  or I might do one less night at WL.

Yes we are ready to think about moving. Houses aren't really selling fast here though. We might be putting it up with a realtor within the year or sooner.

I think you have some ADR'S to make today ;) . As long as you don't want to eat at Le Cellier you will be fine. Thanks for your prayers. I'll be checking in your girls trip pretrip thread more now that I'm done with my trippie.

I'm so sad it's over. Poor Kaylee. I see a future CM in her!:rotfl: Thanks for sharing your ups and downs with us. It sounds like a wonderful bday for Kaylee. PLEASE keep us updated on Thomas. You are all in my prayers.

Thanks Monica  , I will certainly keep you updated :goodvibes. It was a Birthday Kaylee will always remember, hopefully only the good parts.

Thats sounds like a great plan for us. I already made and ADR for Whispering Canyon and I haven't been over to FW since I was 6 and would love to take the kids over there to ride the ponies too. I was looking forward to POFQ because it seems it will be quiet and relaxing. Too weird my bad dream happened to be there :headache: . I don't know which other moderate I would even like :confused3 . Might have to book AKL or WL.

Thanks so much for reading, yes it was hard to leave. I think 10 days and I would be ready to go home. You should read my October report since it was at Poly ;) . In the parks I usually wear Crocs Athens (flip flops), in that picture I think they are ones I picked up at Old Navy. I don't think I'd make it through a day at the parks with them and I live in flip flops. Try the crocs ones , they are not as ugly as beach crocs at least.

My stress level must be through the roof. My skin looks awful and my stomach has been in knots. If you read post above, I had a nightmare and in it we were at POFQ. Now I feel like I should choose somewhere else to stay :rolleyes1 , I'm nuts  , in the back of my mind I just wanted to go to WL . Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers for our family. I will keep you all posted and I'm almost postive it be good news :) .

Funny you mention that - I literally JUST got off the phone with Disney Dining! :goodvibes

Keep us posted on your resort changes. :rolleyes1

You have to fill me in on dining plans. I have been thinking of changing one or two of mind. Just got off the phone with DH and he we both agreed to switch back. We might skip 2009 though  according to him. Well see.

Now we are going to WL for 7 nights!!

WOO HOO!! That is awesome Nichole! (And I bet you'll be back in 2009)

As far as our ADR's - this is what I got:

Chef Mickeys (breakfast)
Norway Princess Storybook Breakfast (Sam wanted to do this - I'm trying to keep her young!)
Sci-Fi
Fantasmic package at Hollywood & Vine

I doubt well be back in 2009 if we can but if not then May of 2010 for Thomas's Bday.

Your ADR's look great! I hear you on keeping Sam young long as possible ;) . I love Norway Breakfast! Kaylee wanted to do CRT again  but I could not say no to the overpriced breakfast since she still wants to go at least. Here are ours, one or two we might cancel. Do you think Sci -Fi is better for lunch or dinner? Tell me what you think.

1900 Park Fare- Breakfast
Chef Mickey's Dinner- before Fireworks cruise w/ friends
Sci Fi- Dinner
Coral reef- dinner
Crystal Palace- Dinner
Whispering Canyon- dinner
CRT- breakfast
Tony's Town Square :scared: dinner
Cape May Cafe- Breakfast with friends

Looks great Nichole! We did Sci-Fi for lunch last time and enjoyed it. Everyone says to eat the burger there and thats what I did. The menu for dinner is a bit different than lunch - check out the menus and decide what sounds better for your family.

Can't wait to hear about the Fireworks cruise!

Cape May Cafe is another one I'd like to try someday - for breakfast anyway.

Have you been to Tony's? We went last year and it wasn't terrible. I know a lot of people have bad things to say about it but it wasn't that bad. The meal was a typical Italian type of dish - nothing to write home about but certainly edible. :goodvibes

Nichole, we went to Sci-Fi for dinner and we were all pleased. I wasn't that hungry, so I got an appetizer and dessert (Spinach Artichoke Dip with Chips and the Cheesecake) both were delicious. What was even better, was my drink - The Space Invaders. It blew the glowtini out of the water, size-wise, and it had a glow cube too! I have a picture in my trip report, I will try to find it. The rest of the group were all pleased with their food as well, but I've heard the same thing as Michelle - most people prefer lunch. We thought dinner was a-ok, though! The atmosphere is so much fun! It was one of our favorite places of the whole trip!

The rest of your places sound great, too! :goodvibes

We ate dinner at Tony's last year and really, really liked it actually. The service was great and I had the calamari rings for an appetizer and they were awesome (and I live in NY!)

Cape May we did for the clambake dinner two years ago, and we have adr's for them again for dinner this trip. I would love to try their character breakfast but dh hates to eat dinner out!:confused3 He is totally not a breakfast eater, and with four little kids we like to be at the parks for opening.....then back out after lunch. So it does waste some of our park time. Although I'm thinking of booking O'hanas for their character breakfast as a suprise for our last morning at the poly.

I was lucky enough to get into CRT the past two years with dd4 and thought I would skip it this year since we are headed to 1900 park fare and also Akershus, but dd was so sad. Last year when we went for breakfast just dd and I for some mommy time, DH sent her the glass slipper dessert for after breakfast with "Always our princess" written on the plate in chocolate. The pics were adorable and she ate every bite! So she was sad not to go back, so going back, we are! Just like you said.....if they ask for it, I'm going to make it happen b/c all too quickly she will not want to do those things. Even though she is only four, I know how fast time goes by. I can't believe my oldest son is going to be ten next month:scared1: :sad1:

I've never done coral reef or whispering canyon......are they really worth it?
And thanks for the tip about the croc athens, I'll be checking them out on shoebuy!

It looks like Sci Fi takes the burger off the menu for dinner :confused3 but dinner works better with the schedule. I think Cape May Breakfast is supposed to be good, dinner is mostly seafood which we really don't eat. Never been to Tony's but a little scared of it. Just thought if we wanted a sit down in MK then it might be good enough. I thought about the Plaza which I liked in 2003 but how many burgers can you eat :scared: all week. I could even put Crystal Palace in it's place since the day I booked is on MNSSHP night and we might miss it. ADR's are alot of work aren't they.

I might have to switch my park days around a bit to fit Sci Fi in for lunch instead. That would mean our first park would be HS though and it's our least favorite. Well except DH, he likes HS  alot. The food sounds good and I have to try the Space Invaders drink. I'm sure the kids will love the atmosphere.

I think you should make and ADR for 'Ohana breakfast, the food is good and the characters are great too. This is the first trip we don't have a dinner ADR there. We usually do quick breakfasts too but on our day off from the parks we will schedule a breakfast. That way we don't miss park time.

Last year we did PSB and 1900 Park fare instead of the castle too. I think you will be happy with those and they are only 1 TS credit which is good. This year it's back to CRT again for us. We have been twice before but I think $140 for breakfast is a little crazy. That was so sweet of your DH to send your DD the glass slipper dessert, maybe I will order one for my DD :goodvibes . I agree time goes by way too fast, I can't believe DD is 8 :scared1: . We loved Coral reef last year, the food and service were excellent. Whispering Canyon is really fun and the food is alright. We we don't go there every trip. Since we are staying at WL now it fits inot the schedule good for us.

Thank you for sharing your trip with all of us! It was so much fun to read. :goodvibes

Thomas and your whole family are in my thoughts and prayers right now.
