My Little Princess is Turning 8 trip report. Completed

I just found your trip report. I'm only on page 2, but had to post and tell you that I am loving it. Your kids sound like mine, a bit. I totally know what you meant about the after Disney depression! Got to get back to reading......

Just found your report and caught up to now. Your kids are just adorable and it looks like Kaylee certainly had an amazing birthday trip! Can't wait to read the finale (even though its your last day :sad1: )

Erin:cool2:
:welcome: and thanks for reading!! We had a great trip!

Hey Nicole! Glad you finally got to see Illuminations. We love it too, but missed it last time. It sounds like you had a good time considering the time of year. You've barely mentioned the crowds. I don't blame Tom, I don't think I'd like eating at Morocco either! I can't believe it's already your last day. I think you've written two trip reports in the time I've written my one!! Glad the kids liked it at Pop. I can't wait to stay there in December. Looking forward to your next installment.
Hi Monica,
We loved Illuminations! Morocco is not going to happen unless DH stays home. I hope to finish my trippie on Tuesday. You will like Pop, it's nothing fancy but you all will be mostly at the parks in December.

I'm up to page 9 now, but just had to stop and post about that "severe bun" you mentioned at BBB. I am still laughing!!!!

DD9 had the makeover at BBB on her birthday, too. By the end of the day, the poor thing had such a headache. She even fell asleep at Chef Mickey's and didn't want her birthday cupcake. (We give it to the kid at the table next to us.) I SWEAR it was all from the tight bun. (We had a couple of cranky moments right after the BBB, too, almost at the same exact locations as you.) How funny!!!!!

Ok, back to your TR. I'm really interested. We have stayed at the POP many times. Have stayed at POFQ and CBR, and will be staying at POLY this July. We were supposed to stay at CSR once, but ended up switching it. Can't even remember why or to which other resort????

You are going to love Poly :cloud9: . It's just out of our budget this year since we are taking 3 family trips. Kaylee also had a headache and Ihad to take out the crown becuase it hurt her head. She left the bun unitl the next day though. Too bad your DD fell asleep at Chef Mickey's, I think I would have just taken her hair down. The problem is it's so heavily hairsprayed  so not sure if you would be able to take it down without shampoo. What did you think of POFQ? Is it much nicer and quieter than Pop? My kids would be fine staying at Pop again but I want to stay some place a little relaxing. Poly & WL are my favorite.

I didn't even think about her hair until the next day. I just figured she was exhausted and it had all caught up to her. (It was a Thanksgiving long weekend/birthday trip, so we left the house at 4:45 am on Thursday, spent the day with my Mom, the next day in a park, and then met my mom at MK on Sat., her birthday. We flew back Sun. night so it was a whirlwind trip.)

When she mentioned the bun the next day, it started to make sense to me.

I liked the POFQ. It was quieter and more relaxing. I would love to stay there again someday. We've stayed at the POP a lot, and we really do feel at home there. The kids love it there. I've never seen the Big Wheel races. We will have to check that out next time we're there.

I'm really looking forward to our stay at the POLY.....

Love the picture of Kaylee and Thomas when he was just born - so cute!

Great update too - even though I could sense the sadness of your last night. :sad2:

We've never seen Illuminations either - hopefully in October or December this year!

I just saw those parasols and DD wanted one too!! I had to be mean and tell her no, we weren't buying an umbrella. How in the world were we supposed to get it home!??!?! And i really wanted a pastrie from France also, but we had an ADR for 1900 Park Fare in a few moments with a special cake ordered, and i didn't want to ruin my appetite.

Hope everything turns out ok with Thomas!

Wow sounds like your DD had a really busy Bday trip. I think Disney Birthdays are the best. I plan to take Thomas for his 5 or 6th Bday at least fro a long weekend. Thanks for the info on POFQ. You are going to have so much fun at Poly.

Thanks :) . The sadness was not fun we had two spolied crying children on check out day. I felt like joining them :sad1: . You must see Illuminations on one of your upcoming trips.

Welcome back Jennifer! How was your trip? I guess I better come read your trippie now and see how things went. We drove so it was easy fro us to get the Parasol home. I think I should stock up on big gifts next trip if we drive because we might start flying in the futre and it would be so hard to get all the stuff you buy home. I would have saved room for the yummy cake too, maybe next time you can get a patry in France.

There's definitely nothing like a birthday at the World. We've all had at least one there, except for the little one. She's a Sept. birthday, so we'll have to do that in a few years. Hey, maybe it will be a free dining birthday trip. LOL...

Something's up with my PMs. I didn't get this last one you sent. It just kept popping up that I had a new message. It did id three times and no PM there.
:confused3

That's strange as I have been logged off DIs before when I tried to post a PM. I think that was yesterday though. Nothing important in my last PM just cruise chit chat :) .

I just spent 2 hours reading your reports and all the posts!
Thank you for sharring! :) What a lucky DD you have  We are going to POP August 25 tho Sep 4th. My sons Bday is Sep 25th now I wish we were going later. Although he call this his Bday trip!!
We are taking my MIL for her first trip to WDW!
Can't wait!!!!:rotfl:

HI Nichole,

I've been offline for about a week, preparing for two bouts of company next week. Crazy busy.

Great trip report updates!

About Thomas, sorry you are having to go through this. I just cant imagine how I would be reacting if I were in your shoes. I will put a reminder on the 28 and say extra prayers for Thomas that day. Please keep me posted if you get moved up on the waiting list. Surgery on a toddler is never easy to think about. Take care!

Cathy

I owe you a huge apology, I just realized what is going on with Thomas.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers until that report comes back!

Back to you trippie.

That is awful about Kaylee's foot at TL, hope it didn't bother her the rest of the trip.

I do lilke Illuminations and make sure to see it each trip, but I agree nothing can hold a candle to Wishes:goodvibes

(and you are not a bad mommy for making her pay for the umbrella, more parents should teach their kids responsibility like that :goodvibes )

Thanks for reading!! Yes Kaylee seems to get lots of pixie dust at Disney :) . Your DS is going to love Pop :goodvibes .

Thanks Cathy :goodvibes I apprecaite so much eveyones thought and prayers. My reactons haven't been great all the time, lots of crying. But I have been holding it together exceot Thursday after his Appt with the Specialist and yesterday when I was alone for a bit and had too much time to think. I'm hoping we get moved but it doesn't look like it so far. Thanks so much!

Thanks so much for the hugs , prayers and thoughts for our family. We appreciate it so much :goodvibes . I can't wait until Thomas recoveries and the report comes back benign. I will be so thankful and ready to celebrate. Trying really hard to think postive and not get so upset around him since I'm the mom and he needs me.

Kaylee's foot did hurt her a bit, we just put a bandage and neosporin on it and she rode with Thomas in the stroller the whole last night. It has finally healed now, took forever. Loved Illuminations :thumbsup2 . My kids are pretty spoiled but I try to make them responsible and accountable whenever I can. I enjoy spoiling them to a point but I don't want to get into the real world someday and think they're entitled either :goodvibes .

I finally got caught up with your TR Nicole! What a great day Kaylee had for her birthday. She looks so adorable in her sleeping beauty dress and her hair up done up! You were so lucky winning the Dream Fastpasses and getting picked to ride with Goofy on Barnstormer. Sounds like a nice birthday dinner at CM and what a delicious looking birthday cake you ordered.:) Glad you enjoyed your stay at Pop too. I know it's not a deluxe resort but for the money you really can't complain.;)

Thanks for reading :goodvibes and all the nice comments. Pop was fine for a long weekend. On a longer trip I think we would need more space.

Departure Day and Final Thoughts.

When we woke up, we all got ready and finished packing. Then Tom took the luggage to to car. Kaylee was crying her eyes out when her dad took the luggage. She really wasn't reay to go home so soon. I think we all prefer our usual 8 night stays but 4 nights would be more doable for a long weekend. I reminded her how much she had and that we would be taking a Disney Cruise in just 6 months with a couple days at the parks. (those plans changed as you know).

After the kids were dressed we headed to the food court for breakfast. Kaylee had kids eggs and bacon platter which she liked. Thomas had Pop waffles. I had the kids french toast and Tom had chocolate chip pancakes. The food was actually really good considering it was a foodcourt. Thomas enjoyed sitting by the big screen TV to watch Playhouse Disney. It was very crowded in there this morning though since the Spring Break crowds had arrived. It was a major pain just to get a drink refill.

We checked out of our room and took a nice long walk around the resort. Which was great since we would be in the car for 10 hours. We took a ton of pics, and saw ducks and bunnies and the unfinished Legendary years .

Continued...... Departure Day and Final Thoughts..

We walked back through the lobby for any last minute restroom stops. The lobby bathroom was very clean BTW.

DisneyMarch2008263.jpg

Tom brought the car around and Thomas wanted to see the Disney buses while we waited. Then Thomas decided he wanted to get on a bus to Magic Kingdom :sad1: and there was more crying in front of Pop :rolleyes1 . I finally somehow got him excited to go home to this McQueen room and bed. When I put him in his carseat he wanted to play his Disney buses.
Kaylee was still tearing up too but tried to smile.

DisneyMarch2008264.jpg

Then we drove away from Pop and out of the Disney gates. Kaylee and I made sure to read the "See Ya real soon" sign out loud. I was dreading going home for many reasons I guess. Reality isn't always fun and a longer break would have been great! As we were driving down 429 we passed so many lovely houses in nice subdivisons and even Tom was looking at them  . Moving to Florida might definately be in our future, as we both think we want to now. We just have to have time to research areas and look at houses. More on that another time though. We were getting further from Disney :sad2: and onto 75 North with all those digusting billboards from North FL all the way to almost Atlanta.

DisneyMarch2008265.jpg

DisneyMarch2008267.jpg

We stopped for a late lunch at Chick Fil A and then back in the car. It was just getting dark the last hour of the drive which was good because we get sleepy. Tom drove the whole way home but it's not like I sleep. I have to stay awake and make sure he is driving safely with my babies in the car :snooty: and to nag him every so often ;) . He is a good DH sometimes :flower3: as he hardly complained about driving all that way to Disney just for DD, well maybe once or twice. We made it home in just over 10 hours.

Final Thoughts...... Future Plans

Kaylee had a wonderful Birthday at Disney, better than I could have ever imagined! We were very sad to leave. We did lots of ups and downs but it turned out good. On future trips I will call home once at most since it seems others like to riun the Magic ;) .

Our first stay in a non deluxe resort was absolutely fine and I would do it again for a short trip like this. It was a fun place and our room though small was nice and clean. The kids loved it and really do want to go back there again next trip. Poly is still the family favorite.

Our next Disney trip will be in October 2008  . I was really not sure which resort would be best. First I booked WL because we love it there and Thomas was not here yet on those trips. He would love it there. Kaylee also voted for WL. Well then I decided to save a few $$$ this year because we want to get new furniture for our house and some new stuff for our yard and pool this year. To save a bit I switchd to POFQ. Hopefully we will like it, at least it will be sort of quiet and relaxing. But I have 5 months so may change to WL, AKL, or maybe a split stay with Pop/ BC.

Friends of ours form NJ who have DVC will also be there the same time as us. We have plannd some Grand Gathering events together, so it should be really fun. My GF is a planner too which is awesome! She already booked the Fireworks Cruise from CR which is a must do. Also thinking of doing the Safari Dinner at AK. The MNSSHP is on our list too! This year I'm going dress up with the kids. I have already made our ADR's and we are trying a couple new places this trip. I'm hoping and praying everything goes well with Thomas and we have a good summer. He asks everyday when we are going back to Disney?? Also he is so shy but if you ask him question about the trip he will talk to you for hours :lmao: he already has a ton of knowledge. It will be great to have this trip to look forward as sort of a celebration for gettting through everything that is ahead for us later this month. Please keep Thomas in your prayers. even though I'm done with my trip report I will try my best to keep you all posted on his recovery.

Thank you all so much for reading :grouphug: without my DIS friends it would be no fun to write.

Nichole, it sounds like a lovely trip and thank you so much for sharing it with us! I was tearing up at the end, thinking of how painful it is to leave. Loved all the pictures of Pop (since I will be staying there in December :rolleyes1 ), so thanks for the tour. :goodvibes

Your October trip sounds amazing! The fireworks cruise from the Contemporary sounds like a lot of fun as does the Safari! Do your friends have children? That will be fun for your kids! What's your costume gonna be for MNSSHP?

I look forward to hearing about the trip and I will be thinking about you and Thomas and praying for a quick recovery!

Sara

What a great trip!! I really enjoyed reading it! Our quick 4 day was too short for us too! No one wanted to leave, but it was enough for a quick fix! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much Sara :goodvibes for reading and all your kind words. Yes my friend has children too. She has a DD8, DS6 and DS who will be 2 in September. They are going to Disney next week for 10 days!! I wish I were going twice a year for 10 days at a time. Our DD's were great friends until we moved away. Well see them in July when and if we make it to NJ.
Anyway if I can lose a few lbs. before October then I want to be Tink this year before I get any older and chunkier :rotfl2: . thomas keeps changing his mind but I think he wants to be Captain Hook or a pirate. Kaylee wants to be Wendy this year. Of course she has a new Snow White Costume with the shoes and everything but why would she want to be that :headache: . I told her I'll make Thomas be her dwarf. Looks like we are all finishing our reports around the same time.

It's a quick fix but not long enough for me either. Thanks for reading.

Thank you for your wonderful report. Prayers to Thomas and your family. Please keep us posted!
