My Little Princess is Turning 8 trip report. Completed

DAY 3 PART 1, 2 Meltdowns and a Dream!!

Today didn't start off good to say the least. DH and I got ready for our half day at HS then woke the kids up to have breakfast in the room before heading out to the bus. Kaylee woke up in a good mood like most days but Thomas was very uncooperative. Most of the trip he was like this along with DH a few times.

Thomas decided it was a good idea to play with his very loud Buzz Laser at 7:30 am. I told him to stop several times before thinking well our neighbors woke me up during the night with their Bday party. So now they have to just deal with the the noisy toy ;) for a bit. Then he has a fit because he doesn't want to eat breakfast. Also he said no to taking his vitamin. Which I felt today was not a good day to skip since he sat next to someone with the stomach virus at CM the night before. I was trying to keep him healthy as possible since we had a long ride tomorrow. Well he was not going to eat or take the vitamin but wanted to go to the park with us. So Tom told me to leave with Kaylee and hopefuly Thomas would be reasonable and then they would meet us at the bus stop.

So we get to the bus area and Kaylee is just playing out front so I call my mom to get and update on the dogs. Well she is is a mood too and complaining(like she does alot) about how the dogs are sooo annoying and she is ready to choke them:crazy2: and is never watching them again . Mind you she volunteered to watch them for me. Let's just say she stresses out over everything.

Kaylee had been asking me if we can stay another day and is in the background saying this when my mom is complaining. Well when I hung up I said I don't think that is a good idea with Grandma being so stressed out and that adding a day was not going to happen.

Well Tom and Thomas finally meet us in front of Pop. Well Thomas was still whining & crying and still didn't take his vitamin or even drink his milk. Now I'm really :headache: between dealing with his whinny but all weekend, Tom being a jerk and not reading the plans over, and the phone call with my mom. So I tell Tom loudly that I'm not going to the park and they just go without me and proceed to throw my baggalini on the ground like a 2 YO old :rolleyes1 . Well we had and audience and I'm sure they were quite entertained by my outburst. So I pick up my bag and go back to the room and have a good cry  . I had enough of my family pushing my buttons and I needed a little break. After I was calm I called Tom and they were driving to HS , but he said he wanted me to go and that he would pick me up at front. he also said a 3 day weekend at Disney is not the time to battle Thomas's and his stubborn spolied brat ways. When DH picked me up he apologized for acting like a jerk and was trying to be accomdating for a change. He was even willing to stay another day, that is until I told him about Mom's phone call.

We finally get to HS and park and take the tram. It was about 9:30 so we went to see about seeing Playhouse Disney but it had already started. So we went to see VOTLM
instead. It was a very cute show and Kaylee forgot how much she loved it!!

After we were done Kaylee was begging to go to the animation Studio and do the drawing class. We figured since we didn't want to spend a whole day at HS that Tom and Thomas would go to Playhouse and Kaylee and I would go tp the class. Tom just didn't feel like drawing so I got elected. I'm definately not and artist  . Here are some pics of the new Playhouse DIsney Show which has Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in it, as well as the Little Einsteins. Thomas raved about it!!

Kaylee and I went into the Animation shop so we could go in the back entrance instead of seeing the move again. I asked the CM (Scott was his name) when the class starts. He tells me not until 10:30. I told him we would just browse in the shop and play with the computers in the animation courtyard since that was open. Then he says he would be right abck. When the Scott came back he told Kaylee since it's her BDay that the Artist was going to do a private class just for her. I think Kaylee was just shocked and excited too :yay: . I thanked the CM a 100 times!! Then we went to the classroom and met the artist Shane. He was very nice but on the serious side compared to the other artist that work there. We got to learn how to draw Minnie Mouse. Both of ours turned out alright. Kaylee could use some practice but she loves drawing and we go through toms of paper in my house. When we were finishing up, Scott came in and gave Kaylee got a magical moment certificate. But that is not all he also gave her a bag with the Disney drawing kit that has everything in it, as well as a sketch book we were looking at in the store for her Bday. The artist gave her a roll of paper to take home and even signed his drawing and wrote Happy Birthday Kaylee on it. Kaylee was just thrilled even though she really is shy and said thank you to the CM's. She wanted to go back to the hotel so she could use her new art stuff. I just couldn't believe this!! I could never have imagined a CM doing this for Kaylee and giving her $30 worth of stuff for free just because it was her Bday and to be nice. I was about to cry again with happy tears of course. We thanked Scott and Shane a few more times, as the 10:30 class was about to begin in a few minutes. We were really just blown away. Kaylee talks baout this all the time and asked me yesterday if I wrote about her" Dream" yet. this was her favorite moment of the trip.

Kaylee still wanted to go to the next class and draw another character. So we did and this time we drew Stitch. I have to take a picture of mine, I think it came out alight for me.
I called Tom when we were Donw and he said they were waiting to see the Cars by Streets of America. Now he was using his brain for a change. I told him we would meet them there down that way. We walked down by the HISTKS playground and I called Tom and told him to go there when he was done. When they got there Thomas was telling me all about the Cars. Then runs off to play with Kaylee. Then I showed Tom everything that was in the bag I was carrying. I think he thought I went shopping again at first. Then he just shcked that a CM would do something so nice for Kaylee and that her Bday was really going to be one she would remember and cherish. Now he understands why I made him drive 10 hours each way to Disney for a 3 night Bday weekend.

The kids were having a blast in the playgorund. I wish they had stuff like this when I was little. It's really well themed.

Of course my kids have to climb on the Snowman..

Then we lined up for the Toy Story characters. Thomas loved this guy.

Thomas was having a fit on the line and said he didn't want to see Buzz & Woody . We made him anyway. Now he is glad he saw them. He Even has buzz on his shirt. Kaylee and I have Tink and DH has Grumpy  .
DisneyMarch2008217.jpg

After We finished up visitng with Buzz & Woody we were hungry and the kids wanted to go to Pizza Planet , which we think is kind of gross but we went anyway. This time Tom did the ordering and I had the kids. Probably wasn't a good place to have them since they wanted to play games. Thomas wanted to ride the tractor, why your at Disney?? I told him 2 rides only.

I gave Kaylee $1 to play the claw machine. She was getting very discouraged when a CM came over and started talking to her, he opened the machine and gave her 20 credits on this machine so she could win. Yet another Maigcal Moment for Kaylee :yay: . Well I even helped her some but the claw would just not bring the toys all the way to where it drops them in the door. I swear I always win at the Boardwalk on these dumb games. The CM came back with keys and let Kaylee pick 1 toy out of there. She picked a small stuffed Lady. I thought that was cute since we were staying in the Lady section at Pop. Kaylee made sure and said Thank you again to the CM. Finally I was able to get the kids to sit down and eat. Thomas was even hungry by now since he skipped breakfast.

After lunch our plan was to leave and drive to Typhoon Lagoon. I had already packed a day bag for us with our bathing suits and beach towels in it. This would be our first time at TL so I was excited to go and check out the wave pool.

I'm sorry for this Nichole, but I have to laugh!:lmao: I can totally picture your fit!:rotfl2: I had a mini fit at Chef Mickey's. I'm sorry you had such a yucky morning, but it looks like it picked up. What an awesome magical moment for Kaylee! I've never done the drawing studio, but I hope to some time. Sounds fun! Can't wait to hear about the rest of your day.

Great update Nichole! :thumbsup2 Don't sweat about the fit - I think we have all been there! :rolleyes1

So many magical moments for Kaylee! Amazing!

It's seriously going to be hard to top this birthday, huh? ;)

The Disney Animation sounds like so much fun - I can't wait to try it someday! :rotfl:

Looking forward to TL! I can't do water parks, so I'm interested in hearing all about it!

Hi Monica,
It's always funny reading others less tham magical moments because we have all been there at one or another. I love my little boy but sometimes he is just very stubborn. You must do the animation tour next time. It's so much fun. Usually I get in there and can't help but laugh at my drawing. There is only 2 more mini fiasco's left in the trip. This trip was like a roller coaster with really great moments and some not so great.

Great update Nichole! :thumbsup2 Don't sweat about the fit - I think we have all been there! :rolleyes1

The fit was a bit embarassing and I dreaded writing it. No way can I ever top this Birthday. But I was happy to be able to bring her, it was worth it! She really had a great time and didn't want to leave. try to get to the Animation studio next time, so fun! Why cant you do waterparks?

What a great update!

Don't worry, we all have our moments! :goodvibes Long story, but on a family trip last year I was a little peeved with everyone, so I took DS in his stroller, said he needs a nap and walked around the World Showcase by myself. Enough time for me to cool off, him to take a nap, and meet up with everyone later for dinner. Sometimes we moms just need a breather! :thumbsup2

The photos of the kids are great! And I am so happy that Kaylee had not one, but two very special moments. She's a lucky little girl, and you must have been just thrilled at the kindness of those CMs!

I guess I should clarify. It's not that I CAN'T do waterparks (as in not physically able), it's more of a preference. Even in my pre-baby skinniest of days, I've never been comfortable in a bathing suit in public. Add to that shyness, the fact that I am at a much "bigger" place in my life after my 3 children! :rotfl2: I didn't quite bounce back to my pre-pregnancy size, and then I just kept getting pregnant again! Snowball effect, you know?

Plus I don't like my head to go under water! :rotfl: It would just basically be me, sitting around, in regular clothes, watching everyone else! The germ issue gets me a little bit too for some reason! :scared: Two of my nieces have CF, so when we are with them, we can't go to waterparks anyway (not good for their lungs - too much of a risk of infection).

Back to the regularly scheduled trip report....

What an amazing morning after having such a trying start to the day:yay: . I think we've all had our fair share of meltdown moments....I had mine on Saturday in the middle of Ikea and it was absolutely packed:blush: hey ho it gets it out of your system doesn't it;)

:rotfl: your DS sounds just like mine! Oh how i can see myself fighting with him to take his vitamin too! Or not drinking his milk! :headache: You ask for the milk, you drink it! Espically since the nice CM spent 20 minutes rounding up a bottle of soymilk for you! :headache: I can imagine i'll be having little fits like that too in a few days!

WOW did Kaylee really rack up the magical moments this week! What a lucky girl! That private art class really sounds wonderful! Congrats to her for that one!

Jennifer

Thanks for sharing the meltdowns with us - both the kids and adults! Makes me realize I'm not the only one!

Love the picture of Thomas at Playhouse Disney - so cute! He couldn't have been having a tantrum that same morning. :rolleyes1 So when they redid Playhouse Disney did they add benches to sit on? That always bugged me about that place - sitting on the floor. :scared:

Wow about the private artist meeting! What an experience! I'd love to see your pictures. We've never done the animation studio either but want to.

Great update - looking forward to Typhoon Lagoon!

Thank you. The CM's were wonderful to Kaylee :goodvibes . I don't think we had any less tha ngreat CM'S this trip at all in any park or the hotel. Sometimes we need a break but enough was enough for me dealing with so many attitudes. The walk around WS sounds nice & peaceful. A good place to go when everyone in getting on your nerves.

Completely understandable with your nieces, not worth the health risk. That must be hard on your sister (or is it SIL).
I don't really like wearing a bathing suit anymore in public either. I'm far from my bikini wearing days :rolleyes1 after having the second child. I'm finally to the point where I try really hard not feel bad about my stretched out :scared: belly and just have fun. It's very hard though so I can certainly understand where your coming from. Though at Disney there are plenty of us less than perfect mom bodies at the waterparks so I just blend in. I hear on the germ thing too, even worse at a waterpark.

 That's funny about Ikea, glad to know I'm not alone. Yes the day got much better, though Thomas still tried our patience at times.

I think DS's are harder when their little at least. They like to change their minds a 100 times too. Hopefully yours is at his best on your trip, but if not it's not worth it arguing about on vacation I guess. It can be frustrating sometimes though. We all had fun though and can't wait to go back. Kaylee had the most fun though!! Hope you have a wonderful trip pixiedust: in just a few days!!

I guess we all have our moments, it had been brewing on MK day though and then the dreaded phone call made everything worse.

Thomas loved Playhouse Disney, when he sees it on TV he says that he wants to go back. No benches, just floor :scared: seats like before. We just use some purell when we leave. I hope you get to go to the Animation drawing class on one of your upcoming trips. Are you going in May with Samantha? I will take a picture of our drawings and post them. If Kaylee lets me post hers that is. I will post mine though just for fun.

We had fun at Typhoon Lagoon but my pictures are all blurry :headache: . I bought the disposable water camera just for this day but it didn't work good.

I don't think we are going back in May. :sad2: There is just so much going on right now that I think it will just cause more stress to try and fit something else in. I'm not ruling out a quick summer trip though. Even though I swore I'd never go back in the summer. Not sure I can last until October!

There is no way you will last unitl October  . Seems like a long time from now. I think I would go over summer for a weekend. you'll be alright since you know how to tour the parks with crowds.
I hear on the alot going on. Lately I've been running myself ragged. I have to bring thomas to the Pediatrician first thing in the morning. He has a some sort of a lump in his neck and it's proabably the size of a thumb :scared1: . My mom found it yesterday when she was watching the kids. Now I'm just horrified that I didn't notice it before. I'm praying its nothing and maybe has to do with allergies. Between this and Kaylee's dance recital and end of school year stuff, and making plans for 2 trips , I'm exhausted.

I know! Our seasonal passes are blacked out during July but I though about going around my birthday (July 14) to maybe just hang at a resort, maybe see LaNouba, shop, etc. :rolleyes1

Could the bump on Thomas' neck be swollen glands? I had that once in junior high - huge bumps on my neck. I was a bit freaked out but turned out to be nothing. I know a lot of people's allergies are really bad right now.
It will be nice when school is over, right? Do you send your kids (or at least Kaylee) to any camps over the summer?

Thanks so much for posting about your less than magical moments! I sometimes thought my kids were the only ones that weren't "thrilled and happy" every second of our trip! Our little ds (will turn 3 just days after we return from our august trip) can be uncooperative and stubborn when out of his routine or if we have to wake him. And last year our dd who was 3 was such a beast that by the time we got to do the cinderella's breakfast I was ready to cancel! My DH reminded me that the breakfast was really for me and to try to go and enjoy it. Well she was a beast then too, but now looking back it doesn't seem all that bad! Kind of like childbirth!:lmao:

Two questions.....

How is the new playhouse disney show? My little two love to watch mickey mouse clubhouse and little einstiens so I hope it is good. The last two years when we went they didn't even know who bear or stanley was and they still enjoyed it. Hopefully this year will be better?

How many years has your dd been dancing? My dd4 just started in Sept and I'm so excited for her recital. My mom never had us in dance (I love her dearly but she was never into any girl stuff.....no princesses, no disney, no makeup, long hair or dresses:confused3 ) so I'm going girl crazy with my only little girl! She is dancing this year to "When you wish upon a star" and my eyes fill up every time I hear the music. Do you have any ideas of a cute gift to give her that would commemorate her first dance year? I was thinking of a charm bracelet that I could add to every year.

Sorry to be so long and OT, but can you tell I am so enjoying your trippie?

Great update Nichole!!! I am finally caught up!

Wow, Kaylee is a Disney Jackpot isnt she? It might be tough outstaging this birthday...she will want to be 8 forever!

I have had my fair share of tantrums / melt downs myself - yours sounded like something I could have EASILY done :) Thomas' sounds all too familar with something Abby could do too. Oh well, everyone is entitled to a bad day once in a while. :)

Glad it turned out to be a good day!

BTW - waiting to hear what the doctor said about Thomas' neck.

First off, we all get to have our moments we are human the you know what happens:hug:

How wonderful about the special animation class, that is so cool.

I haven't been near the HISTK playground in years! Nice to see the pics.

That would be so fun to see La Nouba on your Birthday! My kids love just hanging out at the resort even more than the parks :goodvibes .

Just got back from the pediatrician and I have to take Thomas for some tests next week and I'm very upset. He does have allergies so I'm hoping that it's just a swollen gland. Thanks for posting that though at least I'm calmer thinking it could be allergy related.

I can't wait for school and dance to be over! Last year Kaylee went to Bible camp. This year she wants to go to Dance camp. Well see this year with the NJ trip and me planning our trip October trip to Disney. We might hang by the pool the rest of the summer. Kaylee goes back to school the first week in August.

Thanks for reading and welcome!! Even though the little kids act up a bit on vacation we still had so much fun. Thomas is my Disney loving boy. He can't wait to go back! As far as Playhouse Disney, I think your kids will like it better now. Thomas loved it! He watches Playhouse Disney almost every morning.

Kaylee has been dancing for over 5 years and this will be her fifth recital. She started when she was 2.5 years old. She loves dance and is really good at it. I hear on the crying thing. My DH thinks I'm crazy but her 2 first recitals I was in tears. I was so proud of her! I have no idea why I get so emotional :rolleyes1 guess it's just a mom thing. I'm have gotten better at holding it in over the years. Don't want any to think I'm nuts  .

Great update Nichole!!! I am finally caught up!

Yes we all have our moments when everyones negative attitiude just gets to be too much. I expect the kids to have a few meltdowns just not the adults  . The day turned out great though of course. Kaylee always hits the Disney Jackpot!! I will not even try to outstage this Bday since I never could.

The Pediatrician is definately concerned about Thomas's lump. I'm not taking it well at all. Trying to think it's probably nothing and just be strong for Thomas. He really hates going to the Dr's so the test will be torture for all of us. They can't even get him in for tests until next Wednesday :headache: so it will be a long 8 days. I just pray that everything is fine and he is perfectly healthy.

First off, we all get to have our moments we are human the you know what happens:hug:

How wonderful about the special animation class, that is so cool.

Hi Mo,
Thanks for the hug. I guess we can't feel the magic every second of the trip ;) . Kaylee really enjoyed the Animation class and the gift. Even she couldn't believe it!! HISTK playground is really cool. When Kaylee was little I had to go through the whole playground with her which was fun. Now they have each other and stay together and I would look pretty funny coming down those slides at my age  .

Nichole, to you about Thomas. Try not to worry so much over the next few days until you go in for tests. You can't make yourself sick when you have little ones to be strong for.

My story might make you rest a little bit easier. The day after Thanksgiving (which I hosted) I noticed a lump on the upper portion of my bikini line. Almost a the end of my c-section scar by my hips. Showed it to DH who completely freaks out (he worries over anything health related which makes it hard to talk to him when I'm worried b/c I wind up reassuring him!) DH thinks its a hernia from lifting the 25lb turkey in and out of the oven in my heavy all clad roasting pan. After thinking about it, I think so too. Now its a holiday weekend so I wait until Monday to call my ob/gyn b/c its near my section scar and I had had several infections after my last baby so I wanted them to look at it. On Monday the dr tells me its a severly swollen lymph node (and that I had several swollen ones all over my body) and sends me to the regular dr for blood work.:scared1:

Regular dr takes info and also freaks out a little and sends me for cat scan and mri and more blood work. They mention lymphoma.:scared1: And send me to a surgeon. Surgeon sees me the following week and tells me its just swollen lymph nodes and that my body must be fighting off an infection or illness and that its nothing to worry about really. Talk about relieved! He said come back in six weeks to make sure they had gone away (which I did, and they did). But he said a lot of times you can have a virus and not even know it.

Of course this is the first two weeks during the holiday season, and we were stressed to the hilt, scrambling to find babysitters for dd4 andds2 who were home during the day. Thank god it was nothing and I hate to sound like this, but all that stress and worry and sadness was completely unneccessary. I'm thankful for it, but it was difficult.

So long post, totally OT, but wanted you to know that swollen glands and lymph nodes apparently happen a lot and dr's take it seriously (rightly so) but many times its all fine. HTH! Sorry to ramble!
