A few weeks ago someone asked a question "if you had 500. extra dollars what would you do?" My first thought was that KitchenAid mixer that I see Emeril and Sarah use on TV.:) Well, it isn't my Christmas present but it is an early b-day gift (not until Feb. ) but Keith said that was what he wanted to get me. His first reaction was he'd never pay that kind of money for a mixer but someone (who shall remain nameless  ) pointed out to him that he owns an EX-Mark lawnmower ("But honey, it is the last lawnmower we'll ever buy" ) and wants special shoes & clips  for mountain biking.

Of course, it isn't the biggest, most powerful mixer they make but it will suit a family of 3's needs just fine. :) I am so excited!!

PS TonyNJ, you can come down to TN and use it!!:p Oh, but you'll have to bring some good ol' NJ pizza with you!:p

LOL!! It's now 12:05am, and DW is still baking with her NEW Kitchenaid stand mixer...She loves it!

    OMG! When did it get to be 12:05. I read your post and was like "where does Mark live again??" It looked at the clock and did one of these  (well, actually, I'm still doing that! LOL I have to work tomorrow. I need sleep.
But Mark, I'm interested in how many watts she got & what size. I am wondering if I bought the right thing.

My mom has two different kitchenaide mixers. :) a big one and a portable handmixer. They work great. I use the big one to make cookies all the time.

Brenda, I have no clue what you're even talking about, but I just want to say I love reading your posts. . :teeth: ;) :) :)

Merry Christmas to you and yours my friend!!! {{{hugs}}} :) :) :)

DH gave me one of my gifts early - a new KitchenAid mixer! it's the 325 watt/5 quart. Just right for me.

Hi its 12:23am and I just cleaned my new kitchenaid stand mixer for another night of rest, I just finished christmas cookies that I pass around the neighborhood, I dont know how I did this before my mixer. I love mine I have the artisan 5qt 325 watt and I paid 159.00 plus tax, it was 279.00 regular price at Kohls and with all the sales plus additional percentages off that is all we paid. Great deal!!! by the way I have the red one and boy do I feel sassy, its no red covertible but it sure purrrrrrrrrs.

My mother has been wanting one for years now. I can't wait. Next year, for her birthday, I am going to break down and buy one for her. She will be soooooooooo happy! :D

Oh, you girls having 325 watts and 5 quarts. Mine is only 4.5 quarts and 250 watts. Supposedly, I should be able to mix like 2 batches of cookies and 2 knead loaves of bread with this. Any thoughts on that? I haven't opened it. I may wait and see if I can get a deal like Whirlsy's!!!(Good job!)

Oh, and WillyJ, I love you too. Yes, you can come down and use my mixer too. Or do you prefer a blender when mixing that Nyquil???

Merry Christmas to you too. You're very dear to me. :)

I got mine for Christmas last year. It is making gingerbread houses so much easier this year.

Enjoy your mixer! I have a beautiful 350 watts 5 quart Professional series mixer. It is just HEAVENLY! We make like 10 pound of mashed potatos at the holidays and I now get that thing out and it swallows all of them and just happily chugs away as it mixes. I have made bread with it too (nothing like not having to kneed the bread). I even lug the 30 pound machine with me when we need to make mashed potatos and other heavy duty stuff elsewhere. We only got such a large one because it was on sale for $200 (regularly over $300).

I am sure your mixer would be just fine for cookies and bread since mine doesn't even look like it is working hard at all when it makes 2 loaves of bread at once. But look around if you want because there are good deals to be had.

LOL whirlsy... love the red comment! Mine is just imperial black (they only have it out now in the 6 quart series I think) but somehow it looks so fitting for such a work horse ;)

enjoy it! I'd love to have one of those too!!!

I have the 300 watt one... had it for 4 years now. I simply adore the thing! I can't imagine cooking without it. It holds a special place of honor on the kitchen counter. :teeth:

I bought mine using my American Express rewards points... so while not "free" (I had to spend money to earn the points! ) ... I did not have to shell out the $500 bucks to purchase it. :teeth:

It's been a workhorse. Enjoy yours Buckalew!

My DW and I are DEFINITELY not bakers............we have a KitchenAid mixer sitting in the basement which we received as a wedding gift:D :D :D .........

is so on my wish list. I had really hoped to get one for this christmas, but dh was laid of for 7 mos. this year, so no. Also, when I get one I need to really shop for price. My sister and mother got ones this year and the ones they bought came with the full accessory pack of extra blades, pasta maker, and sausage maker.

DW has the 325 watt, 5qt. one. It's the Artisan series, and came with the pouring cover.
She bakes all the time, and prior to getting the mixer, there were certain kinds of recipes she wasn't able to make, until now that is:)

We've had our Kitchen Aid mixer for nearly 10 years. For a while, I was burning through 25 pound bags of bread flour like crazy. I was a bread making fool. Ours is the plain white 4.5 quart model. I recently unpacked the cheese grater that we got with the mixer. It shreds a two pound block of cheese in no time at all. It was well worth the extra money to get such a powerful and versitile device for our kitchen. I don't know how we managed without it.

Wow! Anyone who has time to use a Kitchen Aid mixer gets a star in my book. LOL! :teeth:

:bounce: Jumping up and down for ya, Brenda.

I know how much you wanted one. Congratulations!

Now, when are we getting some homemade bread? :teeth:

Have fun with it!

I got mine about 2 years ago. I'm hoping that the shock of the price has now worn off enough that I can convince DH to buy some of the attachments for me. I'm sure that grinder would help me make cheap baby food. ;) :teeth:
