Ya got to be old like me in order to appreciate the gift my DH got me for christmas!



I got a new receiver, CD player and ...get this ...A TURNTABLE!!!

I just got them hooked up and I am playing an original Beatles album!

This is GREAT! Anyone wanna come over and listen to tunes?

Remember the speakers that you could use as end tables? mine are in the basement...think I might go get them.

Any requests? I have over 200 albums.

DH got a new belt for the turntable a couple of months ago, he plays his beloved Beatles albums again! We still have about 300 vinyl albums in our bedroom, we just can't give them up.

I have my turntable hooked up to the soundcard on my computer (through an old Carver preamp). That way, I can make CDs of my favorite vinyl albums. I have quite a few albums and over 1000 45's in the basement and it really is nice to be able to do something besides look at them.

Tell them to roll away - young ones make people like myself (of a tender age of 24) look bad - I have tons of 33 1/3rds and 45s that I would love to be able to play again, if I had a turntable. And to think at one point in my life I was excited because I thought I would get to inherit my dad's Alice Cooper Goes to Hell 8-track... I never realized that I wouldn't be able to play it!!

LOL! Vanessa!!! I have a ton of albums but most of them are in pretty horrible shape! I don't think a new turntable or super sensitive speakers would help.....as a matter of fact, I think that would remind me HOW OLD I ACTUALLY AM!!!! LOL LOL

Thats cool! When we moved into the last house we lived in, the people before us left a huge pile of albums they said my son could have....there were Beatles, Rolling Stones, Elvis etc....he was thrilled! We don't have a turntable tho, so he has the albums displayed across his wall on a shelf.

I have some of my old albums--the ones I didn't upgrade to CDs--funny how much better CDs are than CASSETTES--of course I remember when I won an FM converter for my chevelle and how happy I was!
Our turntable doesn't work either. Remember that it was the bigger the speaker, the better? DH never let me use them as endtables in case something spilled. Now it is the smaller, the better.

Cool Vanessa! I still have my technics turntable...with the red strobe light for timing Have all my albums too...although I must confess Cds changed our lives.
My kids are experts at eyerolls...DD specializes in it.
I love REO...went to school with lead singers, Kevin Cronin's younger brother...saw them several times!

You sure you want me to come over while you are spinning Beatles tunes on your turntable? You know how I love to sing along.

I still have my original turntable, still works great! I finally, just last year, got rid of my albums at a yard sale, but I kept the few that were in mint condition. Might have to freak my kids out by putting on an album sometime, I am quite sure they have no clue as to what the turntable actually is.
