My Journal to Me - Comments welcome!

Yes, you mentioned the pickle eating contest, but failed to mention exactly how many you ate... :rolleyes1

Sounds like fun - I'd love 12 hours to scrapbook! I'm lucky to get 3-4 hrs every quarter!

You can get back into the workout routine, don't worry! You are still doing way better than before you decided to change your lifestyle, so that has to count for something! :thumbsup2

Your scrapbook marathon sounds like a blast! :Pinkbounc Sign me up for the 15 minute massages. When I went to Curves we had a masseuse who would do 15 minute massages. I signed up for about 5 of them. I liked them better than the hour long massages.

I don't blame you for putting on the headphones. I'm not a big karoke fan either! Its either really good or just plain BAD!

I was super tired and pretty cranky today. I think I'm too old for "all nighters" and all the usual weekend chores, like laundry are still waiting to be done. DH called to say he had a dinner meeting, so no walk after dinner for me - bummer! DH will be travelling again which is fine, I'm used to that. However, he suggested that since his trip next week would end in Boston maybe he would spend the weekend at his sister's. Not fine. I don't remember the last time we went out on a date (July maybe?). Finally found a weekend where his mom can watch the kids and guess which weekend it is?!!? DH says to just move it out to another weekend. Right, the next possible weekend for us would be in December and his mom will probably have some christmas thing to go to. Sorry, I am whiny and cranky. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

b- 1c honeynut cheerios, 12oz skim milk
s- 10 grape tomatoes, LC cheese wedge
l - 1c roasted corn & red pepper soup, 12 grape tomatoes, 11 PB pretzels
s- 4 cookies (2 actually made it all the way to the oven!) :sad2:
s - 15 PB pretzels (mad at DH so I ate pretzels. Stupid, I know!)
d- grilled chicken, green beans, 3 cookies
4 f/v
84 oz water
no stupid exercise - maybe I'll try an exercise video after I get the kids in bed...

Amy - pickle contest was not qty, but speed. How fast could you eat a pickle the size a hoagie roll! I didn't win, but that is a lot of pickle in a short period of time. The 12 hours of scrapbooking was good, I just wish I could have kept going. I was working on our DCL cruise from June 2005. I need probably another 12 (or 20!) hours to finish it. That's not happening any time soon. You are right, I am doing way better lifestyle wise than before. I still don't always make good choices (PB pretzels, cookies), but I do feel guilty about them. Now to get the exercise thing back into place...

Jane - I love long massages, but the 15 minute ones were perfect for the event. They were just enough to work out the major knots, but no enough to make you want to curl up and go to sleep. Kareoke could be tolerable after several drinks, but not at 3am and sober. I guess I was sort of antisocial with my headphones, but at 3 am I really didn't care. Enya was what I needed at the moment.

I still have my May 2005 cruise scrapbook to complete. I could have used that marathon. It sounds like it was a blast!

You are doing so well. Keep up the good work!

 Anna,

I hope you and your DH get a chance to have a date night soon. :goodvibes Right after I got married, a friend of mine said that it was important to have date nights especially after having children. She is right, but it is hard to find a babysitter on a continual basis. I hope that everything works out for you to go! :goodvibes

It sounds like the scrapbooking went well... How cool that you could get messages while there! :cloud9:

I hope you are feeling better today and that you have a great week ahead! :sunny:

Maybe you can use some of DH's FF miles and fly to Boston to meet him! That way you can have a date weekend!!! :teeth:

There are certain things I just don't buy and PB pretzels fall into that category. When we were at Costco, DH bought a mongo bag of chocolate covered pretzels. They are calling my name. The bag has not been opened and I am hoping it remains that way until our Halloween party this weekend. Then I can put them out and hopefully get rid of them!

Did you get your exercise in? Sometimes that makes a grumpy day into a better one. You are still doing great, don't fret! You'll work out when you get a chance, you've come too far to fall back into old habits. :)

Anna, its tough when your kids are young finding enough time for a date night. We used to watch our friends' kids one Saturday night a month and they'd watch ours the next. We also had several good teenagers in the neighborhood that we were able to use. I remember when our kids were really young and we first moved to Florida having a hard time finding someone to watch them. The older they got, the longer we lived here, the easier it got. However, just as we'd get used to a babysitter they'd turn 16 & end up getting a job at the mall. I remember one year when dh had his birthday he took the day off work. We went out for lunch because the kids were in school & we couldn't find a babysitter for that evening. I don't care what you say, its just not fun going to Red Lobster at noon! I hope you find a solution soon!

The scrapbook marathon sounded fun...too much rah rah for my taste as well, but fun nonetheless. I'm trying to find a weekend where I can just lock myself in my bedroom and scrap. I know that will never happend...but I can dream, can't I?!
Have you heard of the Cricut yet? I bought one 3 or 4 weeks ago and have used it once.

hope you get your date soon....that'll take care of the grumpies!!

Hi Anna, if dh does go to Boston, still have Grandma watch the kids and go out with a girlfriend! And tell DH he had better bring you back something very nice from Boston. Sounds like you had fun on your scrapbooking thing, I need to do that sometime. I worked last weekend about 12 hours for the first time in over a year and actually fininshed my WDW 2004 trip. I am so behind but it was so fun to haul the stuff out and actually do it for a change of pace! Your pickle thing sounds fun yet that was one big pickle! I hope you are having a great day. Getting the walks in on these shorter, busy days is tough huh? Hang in there and keep up the good work!

Hi Anna!

Hang in there, hope you and DH can find some adult time together. I know that's a tough thing with young kids!!

Try to have a good weekend. :sunny:

Hang in there!!! If it makes you feel any better, I've been a little cranky too. :confused3 My mom told me today that she was tempted to give me a kick to have me "snap out of it"! Did you and dh resolve your alone time weekend issue? I hope it all works out for you quickly. Be sure to find a little time to take care of yourself even if it's just a bubble bath. Remember we're all here to listen so feel free to vent or write whatever is going on. I hope you have a great week ahead!

ok Anna~ it's been a week....where are you??? :confused3

Sorry guys for going AWOL. DD11 is on Fall Break last week and this one, but DD12 is still in school. I've been busy finding "fun" things for us to do while still being home in time to pick DD12 up from school. One is cranky because she is on vacation and can't play with her sister, the other is cranky because she ISN'T on vacation and has to do homework - Sheesh! We had a fun, short trip to DL one day, and we'll go again tomorrow. Going to see "Flicka" this morning, I think. DD11 flew up to my parents and went to Portland with them last weekend. She had a good time being the "only" kid for the first time. :teeth: Someone at the airport was surprised about DD11 flying alone. The kids have been flying since they were infants and flying alone up to my parents as "unaccompanied minors" for the past three years. I never really thought about how unusual that is, I'm just so used to it. Pretty lucky kids, I guess. :teeth: I didn't fly "alone" until I was in my 20's! :rotfl2:

As for me, my water intake has been either great or nonexistent. My meals and planned snacks have been good, even at DL and when eating out. The random snacking is ridiculous however, generally involving chocolate, PB pretzels, or cookie dough! ugh! Exercise has been sporadic. Not even going to come close on the exercise challenge. I need to think about what I am going to do about that going forward. :confused3

As of TODAY, I am getting back on track! I have to or I will never get through the holiday season. Thanks WISH buddies for being there. :grouphug:

Turns out DH can't make the last flight out of Boston on Friday anyway, so he will be flying home Saturday morning. Had a discussion about HOW he presents things impacts HOW I react. I told him I wouldn't have gotten mad if he had just told me he couldn't make the flight and would be spending the night at his sisters. Also, he is going to take an AM flight saturday instead of an evening flight, so he should be home in time for a nice dinner out. His mom is supposed to still pick the kids up Saturday morning, but I'm not really holding my breath on that one. We'll see...If she does, then I will have about 6 hours completely to myself :cloud9: I'll definitely take a long walk and maybe I'll even get to scrapbook!

I had a whole day to myself a couple weekends ago and I swear, I didn't even know what to do! It was a really weird feeling... But I was glad I had that time and you will be too! :thumbsup2

Yes, you can get back on track today. It's so hard to plan things, especially when the kids are on different schedules. What a nightmare!

We are thinking of sending DS10 (who'll be 11) to my dad's in MI next summer about a week before we get there. Both my kids are frequent flyers, so I'm not too worried about it. I'm glad to hear you do it too!

Halloween was probably not the best day to "Get back on track". It wasn't too horribly bad, I guess. Lots of running around carving pumpkins, costume details, etc. DD11, DD3 and I saw Flicka in the morning. Cute movie. Headed to DL for a few hours this today. I'm wondering if they will have all of the halloween decorations down and the christmas ones up??

9a - 3 pancakes (no syrup), 12oz skim milk
11-1: most of child's popcorn (shared with DD3, but I think I ate most of it. :sad2: )
4p: turkey sandwich on whole wheat, 7 baby carrots, apple, 12oz skim milk
5-8p: 5 mini assorted candy bars
16oz water :sad2:
exercise - just running around

The different schedules are definitely a bummer. Next year they will both be on the same schedule again. If the flight to MI is nonstop, then definitely send DS early! We started sending the kids to my parents in Northern CA 3 years ago and they LOVE it. Southwest has a really good/easy/"make mom feel secure" procedure for unaccompanied minors. I'm sure other airlines do the same.

I used to get about 5 weekends a year all to myself when DD's did Indian Princess with DH and it was great. It was so nice to eat when I wanted to, sleep when I wanted to, and not have to worry about what anyone else's schedule was. I don't think I have had anytime all to myself since DD3 was born though.

You sure are getting your use out of those DL season passes! :thumbsup2

I did OK with the candy (only 3 mini bars) but fell apart with the cake and cookies... :confused3

Yes, the flight to MI is non-stop. We'll see how it goes this summer.

I think you should be able to get back on track after your DL trip! :cheer2:

I hope you and dh manage to find some time to spend together alone. Hopefully, your MIL will pick up the kids for you. How was DL? You must've had a blast. Thank God the holiday is over & we can get back to eating right!

Had a great, but short, time at DL yesterday. Went with a fellow Dis'er and her DD (also on fall break) while are older ones were at school. Parts of the parks were done up for christmas while a few places still had halloween stuff up. It was sort of funny to see. Ate not great, but ok, while there and then had a complete breakdown when we got home :confused3 . Back on track for dinner though.

8:30a - breakfast bar
11:00a - 2 bites DD's dole whip
11:30a - 2 safari skewers (bacon wrapped asparagus - yum!), 1 beef skewer
12:15p - DD's rib platter leftovers: small coleslaw, small baked beans, 2 bites cornbread -- really didn't need to eat these :sad2:
3p - 2 mini butterfingers, mini snickers, 2 fulll size PB cups -- :confused3
7p - 1 serving LF tortilla soup, 2c salad w/ 1t LF feta, LF dressing, 24oz skim milk
3 f/v
84oz water
3hrs at DL - counting this as 30 minutes exercise, mostly the fast walk to/from the tram.

Anna

I love our DL passes. It gives me the freedom to just "go with the flow" for the day. The kids spent 30 minutes watching/feeding the ducks on Tom Sawyer Island, and that was fine. No worries about seeing all the stuff.

I hope my MIL does take the kids - we'll see.
