Thanks everyone for sticking with me even when I am not a good WISH poster. I keep waiting for "normal" to come back, but I think it's gone forever and been replaced by "crazy busy"

It bothers me that I am not logging my food nor posting everyday. I have been eating reasonably well and even got a awesome 50 minute walk in Tuesday morning. I would have walked longer but the tide was in and I ran out of beach! The weather has been warm and beautiful which always makes me feel happy

.
Other stuff to keep me in "crazy busy" mode:
1. DD3 rolled off the couch Monday afternoon and hit her head on the coffee table. two stitches, a lot of blood, and one very frantic mommy later, she is doing just fine. Mommy was doing better that evening after a couple of glasses of wine (one was not enough!).
2. Figured out that ALL three kids have Friday off AND DH can take the day off, so we are going to the Grand Canyon this afternoon!!

I found motel reservations a few weeks ago, but DH wasn't sure he could get the time off until this week. I'm a total nerd planner and don't do well with last minute trips. However, I have done a silly amount of research (what did I ever do before the internet?

) and feel like I have a good plan A, B, and C in place ('cause with kids, you can't just have one plan!

) for our long weekend. We're leaving this afternoon after school driving part way. Friday morning we'll finish the drive and then DH, DD12, and DD11 will take a helicopter tour (I don't DO helicopters

). Saturday we will take a couple of neat hikes and then drive home on Sunday.

Should be a lot of fun and I'm really looking forward to it!
3. DD12 has had a cold for awhile. She groaned about going to swim practice today and then put herself to bed before 8pm (!) Took her temp - 102.7 - Darn! First thing she says "Mommy, I have to go to school tomorrow!" I don't know what kind of brainwashing they do at middle school, but it is impressive. They drum it into their heads to not miss school, NO MATTER WHAT. I have heard this from other middle school parents in the past too. Luckily, Thursdays are her really easy day with only two classes - History and drama. Of course, this puts the whole Grand Canyon trip into limbo. My plan now is to pick her up when she is done at 11:15, take her to the Dr's and figure out what to do from there. DH will pick up the other two from school. If it is an ear or sinus infection (which I suspect it is), then she will be feeling better with antibiotics within 24 hours and we'll still go on our trip. If it is something else, then we'll call it off.
Time to get everyone up and going for the day ....

Tracy - the date was lovely

. And thank goodness the candy is finally GONE!
Amy - My chances of making 43 by 43 are gettting slimmer (If only I was too! - Sorry, that made me giggle as I was typing it!), but thank you for throwing it out there to begin with. I agree with you that just having the birthday challenge keeps me from completely going off the deep end. We may not lose everything we want by our birthdays, but at least we are still trying and someday that weight will all come off!
