My Journal to Me - Comments welcome!

You are falling into the leftover Halloween candy trap! GET RID OF IT!!!! Those mini candy bars add up!

Sounds like you had a great time at DL.

Anna, why do the mini sized candy bars taste better than the full sized ones? :confused3 I rarely eat a Snickers or Milky Way but miniturize them and I can't stop!

I took DD3 in to the Dr today because she started a runny nose last week. She was up coughing Monday night and has been congested Tuesday, Wednesday and today. She was not lethargic or anything though, not even super cranky. I just wanted to get her checked out before sending her off to MIL's on Saturday. Apparently DD3 can have a double ear infection and a sinus infection and not ever run a fever over 99 - who knew? Then I think I blew a fuse in the van tonight at swim practice. No clock, no vanity lights and no "beep, beep" for my car alarm. When I called DH on the east coast, he made a smarta$$ remark about actually using the key to lock the car - I think my key might break if I tried to turn it in the little key hole that I have used ONCE. I'll just leave the darn car unlocked! Not a good day food wise -- too much candy, not enough exercise :sad2: AmyM is gonna yell at me, I know. The candy will all go away tomorrow morning. I'm too tired to deal with it tonight.

Food:
8a - PB cup :sad2:
11a - carmelly thing :sad2:
12p - 1c tortilla soup, 2c salad w/ cucumber, grape tomatoes, LF dressing, mini butterfinger bar :sad2:
3p - full size babyruth  , apple, LC wedge
8p - chicken breast, asparagus, 3c salad w/ tomato, cucumber, LF dressing, 12oz skim milk -- maybe a glass of wine after I get everyone in bed ....
4 f/v
80 oz water
no exercise, but way too many miles on my van!

Anna

Jane, yes, the mini ones are better - except for PB cups, the chocolate PB ratio is off on the small ones. :teeth:

And Amy, yes, you are right too. Those mini ones really do add up! The kids already know that after they go to bed tonight, that's it. The candy is gone.

 Anna,

It sounds like yesterday was a rough day for you. :( I hope that your DD3 is feeling better soon. :goodvibes

I hope today is a much better day for you and that you have a great weekend! :sunny:

Hi Anna, sorry I have been MIA from your journal. Had major computer problems this week and only managed to get one post in on my journal before it crashed! Sounds like DL was fun, I really envy you! I am right with you on the leftover candy crisis. I am going to allow my kids to eat it all this weekend and throw it out afterwards! Just keep hanging in there, this time of year is tough, plain and simple. But we can do it!

I'm sorry, but your food yesterday just cracked me up! :rotfl: It reminded me of my college days (well, without the chicken and asparagus of course!).

I won't yell at you, but only because I am on :cloud9: anticipating leaving for my cruise tomorrow! And you can yell at me when I come back and weigh 200lbs... :teeth:

And I am with you - you can actually use the KEY to lock/unlock the door? What will they think of next?!?!?

Hang in there, you can get back on track before the holiday madness strikes!

Hi Anna!

Hope things are going better today. I totally understand the candy meals. I've done too much of that myself lately!! :rotfl:

Hang in there, and have a good weekend! :sunny:

I hope dd gets feeling better. I can't relate - my older ds always ran a temp of 104!

Don't feel bad - I've NEVER used my key lock! Thats not the point anyway - dh should know better! I'm sorry that all this stuff happened while he was away. I bet you can't wait until he's back. :tinker:

So glad the past week is over. Food was ok except for the candy binge at 3pm (I have no will power!). No exercise, Not enough water. Time for everyone to get back to school so they will stop bickering with each other!

MIL did actually pick the kids up about 30 minutes ago (yes, I am pleasantly surprised!). DH's plane left on time, so he should be home around 5pm and he made dinner reservations for 8pm. I am going to have lunch, take at least a 60 minute walk and then scrapbook until he gets home. I am not even going to waste my precious alone time taking a shower. I can do that after he gets home!

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend and I'll catch up on journals tomorrow. Off to eat, walk and scrap, in that order!

Amy - Turns out the little button on the door that unlocks & locks all the doors doesn't work either! This morning I had to either lock each individual door or take my purse onto the field with me at DD11's soccer game. I decided to look like a dork locking all the doors rather than look like a dork with a purse on the soccer field. I'm guessing that you have never even come close to 200lbs, even when pregnant! :rolleyes1 Have an absolutely wonderful week on your cruise!

Kate- I get so mad at myself when I eat well and then blow it with the candy, and yet, I keep doing it. :confused3

Jane - I was surprised about the no fever. At the Dr's office she was 97.9. DD#1 runs high fevers and usually DD#3 does also. DD#2 almost never does, though. If she is anything over 99.5, I know she is really sick. Yes, I will be happy when DH is home. I can handle pretty much anything on my own, but I really don't like dealing with car stuff (or lizards....)

Hi Anna,

Hope your date night went well for you and your DH! :goodvibes That's great that your MIL was able to come and pick up the kids for you!

Have a great Sunday! :sunny:

Hey Anna~
Glad to hear you got some alone time!! isn't that the best??!!
Sorry to hear about the van problems.....I've never used the key to lock my van....didn't know you could do that!! I've also never used the actual button thing on the inside to open the doors....they're power doors and I always push the buttons...heck, if that broke, my kids would have to walk cuz they wouldn't know how to open the door manually!!! :rolleyes1

Hope you are having a great weekend!!!
marie

Hi Anna,

I am so jealous - you get to go to Disney when ever you want!!!!! That must be so much fun!!

I hear ya on the candy, I don't have kids, so I don't get to rifle through the sacks, but I do have to buy candy for DH. I usually try and get the stuff that I don't like that way I am not tempted. It goes pretty good until I come into work!!

You're doing a great job! Keep up the good work!!! I hope you had a great night out with DH for dinner

Have a great day :)

Hi Anna, hope you had a nice night out with dh! Scrapbooking, alone time and a night out with hubby, what is better? I am with you on needing the kids back in school! Its nice when they are home (no homework is nice especially) but its nice when they go back too! Hope you had a great weekend, its a new week with a fresh start (and not trick or treating) for all of us!

What a wonderful relaxing weekend! I was completely alone all afternoon on Saturday and scrapped for several hours. DH and I went for a 35 minute walk. We had an absolutely wonderful dinner Saturday night at a new place that was really nice. MIL took everyone out to Brunch on Sunday too. Foodwise, I was completely off, but it was a needed rejuvination.

WI this morning was 165.0. Up a bit, but it could have been a whole lot worse considering the week of candyfest! :sad2: DH forgot to take the candy bag with him to work today, so of course I had to have a mini snickers & s'mores for lunch. :confused3 BUT, I am getting back on track right now!

Anna

Tracy - the date was wonderful :cloud9:

marie - I really enjoyed my afternoon. DH replaced the fuse in my van so everything works again - made the weekend that much better. :teeth:

Jaime - it really is fun to just go to DL for a few hours. We can just enjoy the decorations and not have to rush around.

Amy - definitely a great weekend. And I am also glad to start a new week with kids in school and no more candy!

Hi Anna,

I am so glad to hear that date night went well!

I hear ya about the candy.... My girls still have two huge bags filled with the stuff!

I hope you have a great week this week! :sunny:

Anna that sounds like a nice weekend, just what you needed! That weigh in was very good indeed given your eating out and Halloween, so pat yourself on the back, ya done good! Hope this week is a good one for you. I still havne't forgotten my 42 by 42, know I won't make it but it keeps me from just throwing in the towel all together.

Thanks everyone for sticking with me even when I am not a good WISH poster. I keep waiting for "normal" to come back, but I think it's gone forever and been replaced by "crazy busy" :confused3 It bothers me that I am not logging my food nor posting everyday. I have been eating reasonably well and even got a awesome 50 minute walk in Tuesday morning. I would have walked longer but the tide was in and I ran out of beach! The weather has been warm and beautiful which always makes me feel happy :cloud9: .

Other stuff to keep me in "crazy busy" mode:
1. DD3 rolled off the couch Monday afternoon and hit her head on the coffee table. two stitches, a lot of blood, and one very frantic mommy later, she is doing just fine. Mommy was doing better that evening after a couple of glasses of wine (one was not enough!).
2. Figured out that ALL three kids have Friday off AND DH can take the day off, so we are going to the Grand Canyon this afternoon!! :Pinkbounc I found motel reservations a few weeks ago, but DH wasn't sure he could get the time off until this week. I'm a total nerd planner and don't do well with last minute trips. However, I have done a silly amount of research (what did I ever do before the internet? :confused3 :rotfl2: :surfweb: ) and feel like I have a good plan A, B, and C in place ('cause with kids, you can't just have one plan! :teeth: ) for our long weekend. We're leaving this afternoon after school driving part way. Friday morning we'll finish the drive and then DH, DD12, and DD11 will take a helicopter tour (I don't DO helicopters :sad2: ). Saturday we will take a couple of neat hikes and then drive home on Sunday. Should be a lot of fun and I'm really looking forward to it!
3. DD12 has had a cold for awhile. She groaned about going to swim practice today and then put herself to bed before 8pm (!) Took her temp - 102.7 - Darn! First thing she says "Mommy, I have to go to school tomorrow!" I don't know what kind of brainwashing they do at middle school, but it is impressive. They drum it into their heads to not miss school, NO MATTER WHAT. I have heard this from other middle school parents in the past too. Luckily, Thursdays are her really easy day with only two classes - History and drama. Of course, this puts the whole Grand Canyon trip into limbo. My plan now is to pick her up when she is done at 11:15, take her to the Dr's and figure out what to do from there. DH will pick up the other two from school. If it is an ear or sinus infection (which I suspect it is), then she will be feeling better with antibiotics within 24 hours and we'll still go on our trip. If it is something else, then we'll call it off.

Time to get everyone up and going for the day ....

Anna

Tracy - the date was lovely  . And thank goodness the candy is finally GONE!

Amy - My chances of making 43 by 43 are gettting slimmer (If only I was too! - Sorry, that made me giggle as I was typing it!), but thank you for throwing it out there to begin with. I agree with you that just having the birthday challenge keeps me from completely going off the deep end. We may not lose everything we want by our birthdays, but at least we are still trying and someday that weight will all come off! :cheer2:

Quick update: DD12 has a sinus infection and DH is on his way back with her antibiotics. Dr's said the trip is still ok so we are off!

Well Anna, when it rains it pours huh? Stitches with one daughter, (so glad she is okay but what a scare that must have been, I would have had the whole bottle!) and a sinus infection with another the same week before a trip? I am glad you are still going to the Grand Canyon. I hope you guys have fun!

And some random thoughts, I think this time of year it is just hard to stay the course day after day with food and exercise. I feel like my whole life is in high gear now and it seems like others are feeling the same. I won't make my 42 by 42 goal either (unless I am stricken with a long bout of food poisoning or locked in a cell for the next five weeks ;) ) but I am still glad I set the goal. All we can do is try. Maybe 42 by 42 days after my 42nd birthday is in order! I need to see when that is... And don't worry about not posting everyday. I am not either right now and again, all we can do is try. A lof of us regulars around here are just busy so post when you can as we all will! Hang in there, we can do this, slow but sure and we will!
