My Journal to Me - Comments welcome!

Hi Anna,

I'm glad to hear that you had a great time at Disneyland! :cool1: One of my favorite things about Disney is that you can escape from reality for awhile and enjoy being like a kid again in a magical place. I am sooooooo looking forward to my WDW trip in December! :Pinkbounc :yay: :woohoo:

That is great that you got that nice walk in at the beach..... :cloud9: You are doing a great job! :cheer2:

Have a great Thursday! :sunny:

OT: Is anyone else having trouble with it being October already? Every time I write the date I automatically start S-e-p then have to start over.

DD3 and I went to the zoo again this morning. We got kind of a late start and DD3 wanted to walk (run!) herself, mostly on the downhills. (Never seemed to want to walk any of the uphills though :rotfl2: ) We didn't look for the animals from her book in order (didn't want to crisscross the park 3-4 times again), but I still got a decent work out and she had fun. I brought a stop watch with me and used it every time I was power walking then stopped it when we were looking at animals or she was walking/not in her stroller. For our 3 hours at the park, I got 59minutes, 29 seconds of power walking. I'm rounding up to 60 minutes.

Food:
8:20a - 2 scrambled eggs w/ LC wedge & green onions, 2 slices Blueberry Crumble toast, 6oz grapefruit juice
1:15p - 2 granola bars (I had brought a sack lunch for DD3, but didn't think to bring anything for me :confused3 )
4:45p - another granola bar
6:30p - 1.5 servings carbonara w/ whole wheat pasta, 2c salad w/ 1T goddess dresssing, 14oz skim milk
2 f/v
82oz water
60 minutes total walking (mostly uphill) w/ jogger stroller

Amy - I decided on 1000 minutes for this challenge. It equates to a 60 minutes 4X/week plus a little more. My hope is to blow right on by that, but the second half of the month gets crazy, so we'll see. :rotfl2: about PBS kids. I can relate!

Kate - I remember when the kids where little, I thought I was busy. People with older kids kept saying, "just wait. This is nothing." :moped:
I can also remember people saying boys were harder to parent when little, girls were harder to parent as teenagers. I get it now, I think ...

Jaime - Come to DL so you can compare and contrast! :cheer2: DL is not a week long vacation, but great for a long weekend. and the flight is shorter for you too!

Scott, Jaime, Jane - My beach walks really are wonderful. I really enjoy them. I get the exercise and it is so peaceful at the same time.

AmyM - smart DH! :rotfl2: My DH should try that.

Jane - DH will come wandering in asking where is such and such? My reply, "it's open, it's gone. kids and I (mostly I) ate it ."

Tracy - I agree there really is something magical about Disney. Maybe it is the childhood memories. Your WDW trip is coming up really soon now. What a wonderful break that will be for you.

Wow, Anna! Beach & Zoo.... It just doesn't get much better!!

Are you going to the San Diego Zoo? I forget where in CA you are. I've only been there once, but could have stayed forever!

Have a great weekend!

Hi, Anna! Wow! I am so impressed with all you manage to squeeze into a day! How awesome that you got in an hour of power walking while at the zoo. I think all the other walking has to count for something, too, don't you? I think everything you do to keep up with 3 kids is wonderful. Mine are 5 years apart and I really feel like I was able to parent DDnow18 very very attentively at the ages where your DDs are now, because DS wasn't pre-pubescent, and his activities weren't too demanding on our schedules. But the way you juggle schedules for your older DDs while still taking care of everything for your younger DD is very impressive. You are such a great mom!

I hope you have an awesome day! :goodvibes: I hope it is nicer where you are than it is here. It was gorgeous and :sunny: the entire time we were in California, but everyone there kept on saying the weather would be very different in a couple of weeks. I hope it is still nice for you!

Thank you for stopping by my journal. The support I get here from my WISH friends is absolutely a life saver. :grouphug:

You're doing a great job, Anna! :thumbsup2 Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

Hope you have a wonderful weekend! :sunny:

Thursdays have a crazy kid schedule and today was compounded with a PTA board meeting in the morning and a parent youth group meeting in the evening. Ugh! I did get lots and lots of deep knee bends in while shelving books at the media center :rotfl2: . I swear all but maybe 2-3 books ended up belonging on the bottom two shelves. I was tempted to just crawl around on the floor, but decided that would look too stupid. Besides, then I wouldn't have gotten in all those squats :teeth: . My backside and quads are sore this morning!

The scale has said 165 for the past two mornings. I'm not going to count it until my official WI on monday, but I am excited to finally see some movement down again. Also, for all of this week, the scale has always been sub-170, even in the evening and when I am fully dressed! I think maybe I have finally left the 170's behind FOREVER!!! It has started to cool down here. I put on a long sleeve top this evening and it was definitely too big!

Food:
8:15a - Apple (resisted pumpkin bread at PTA board meeting)
9:45a - another apple
11:45a - turkey hotdog w/ 1 slice wholewheat bread, 6 red pepper strips, 1 serving wheat thin Crisps, 12oz skim milk
5:45p - 1/2 turkey sandwich on wholewheat
3 f/v
51oz water (ran out of water bottles and my pitcher at home needs a new filter)
30 minutes of exercise

Anna

Julie - yep, SD zoo. When the older two were little we would go to the zoo and see the elephants or the gorillas or whatever, but not see all the animals and traipse up and down all those hills with a double stroller. Now I really look at it as a great exercise opportunity. It is interesting for me to see how my perspective has changed.

Cam - Thank you  . It really helps to hear that, especially when I feel like I am just barely keeping it together some days. The weather is still nice, but you can feel the change coming. Yesterday for the first time, there was a little chill in the air. Of course, for us, chill is anything below 70. :rotfl2:

Tracy - thanks for your support as always. Many days it is WISH and all of WISH friends that keeps me on track.

Yeah Anna! :cheer2:

I am glad to see that the scale is cooperating for you! :goodvibes You are doing a great job with exercising and eating! Keep up the good work! :thumbsup2

Have a great weekend! :sunny:

Hi Anna,

I am so glad that the scale has started to move the right direction for you. If only I could get mine to move again!!!! Soon!!! Congrats really :)

Not sure what we are going to do on the DCA or WDW yet....I would love to be able to do both, but I think we are leaning more towards WDW but not till next year. We will see though!!!

What a smart idea to do at the zoo....there is tons of exercise to be had in those places!!! Way to go!!!

You're doing a great job...keep up the good work!!!

Happy Friday :)

Hi Anna, your food looks really good, so i'm not suprised the scale is tipping in your favour :)
Sounds like you had a lovely day at the beach & zoo, thats much better than being stuck in the gym:)
Have a great weekend
Tracey

Congrats on the great weigh in! Between your zoo walks, beach hikes & library squats you must be in great shape! :flower1:

I've gained and you've lost and now we're almost the same. At weigh in the morning I was 163. Watching your weight will definately motivate me. I've gained 13lbs since spring. Ouch!

I had no energy this afternoon, but I did manage to get out and walk for 40 minutes during DD11's soccer practice. Spent the rest of the time reading a book in the car. Dinner was tasty, but way too much salt. I feel super bloated this morning. I need to drink lots of water to wash all this salt out.

At swim team practice, the coaches announced that they have decided to take the younger teams to an "Away" meet. For her ISPE DD12 needs to swim in a certain number of meets (I need to find out how many). This meet will be 2 nights at a hotel. Also, DD12 needs to compete in a long distance event being held Friday afternoon, so she will have to miss her afternoon class. I'm going to need to think on this one. All of our meets have been within the county up until now. Next year she will be on the older kids team and they definitely travel to meets.

Food:
8:45a - 1c GoLean Crunch, peach, 12oz skim milk
11:25a - granola bar
1:00p - 1.5c tomato & red pepper soup, 1/2 ham sandwich on wholewheat, 12oz skim milk
7p - 1.5 servings smoked turkey sausage w/ 3/4c saurkraut, 1/3c carrots, 1/2c broccoli, 1/3c mashed potatoes, 2 coors light
4 f/v
64oz water
40 minute walk

Thanks everyone for all of your support on both my good and my bad days. I really couldn't do this without my WISH friends. :grouphug:

Jane - I'm still not in great shape, but I am in better shape than I was 6 months ago, so that's good. Sorry you found my lost lbs. You can turn it around though. I know you can!

Tracey - I've never been good at going to the gym, so I'm glad I have some great outdoor choices. We'll see how well I do when the weather is not so nice though. That is going to make a lot more dedication.

Jaime - With DL or WDW you can't make a bad choice. Either one would be wonderful.

Tracy - Thanks. I feel so much better when I exercise and eat right.

Wow, you resisted pumpkin bread? That is AWESOME! I can't resist anything with pumpkin in it. And if it's pumpkin cheesecake, WATCH OUT!

That is great news about kissing those 170's goodbye! :thumbsup2

Keep it up with all your walking and squating, it's obviously doing the trick. :cheer2:

Yep, once you see the scale staying below a certain number when you're clothed at night, you know that DECADE IS GONE FOR GOOD :cool1: ! That is great news for you! Resisting pumpkin bread is like Nobel Peace Prize effort in my book. Pumpkin bread and me go way back, I am suitable impressed! Good luck with the decision about your daughter and her swimming, parenthood gets complicated sometimes. Your eating sounds great and your exercise is really good too. I mean doing a 40 minute walk when you are worn out is awesome. In the old days of your life that would have never happened. See how far you have come! :thumbsup2

Hi Anna,

Congrats on scale going down and too big clothes!!!

You are lucky you can do your outside exercise. I miss that all winter. :sunny:

Bad day food wise! :sad2: DH made breakfast this morning and I ate way too much bacon. DD's Swim Club had the Grand Opening for the new pool today and I ate way too much of everything. Dinner was a bit better, but not much. I did drink +100oz of water, but I am going to have to be super good tomorrow if I want a decent WI on Monday. :sad2:

9:15a - 2 waffle squares, egg, 3 pcs bacon, peach, 12oz skim milk
12:45p - hot dog w/ bun, bag of cheetos, bag of doritos, mango smoothie (yum!), lots and lots of water
5:45p - 1/2 steak, green beans, 1 slice sourdough bread, screwdriver
2 f/v
+100oz water

Anna

I'm not a huge pumpkin bread fan, banana bread on the other hand ....

Thanks guys for all your encouragement. I hope I didn't blow it too badly today. :confused3

Hi Anna,

Tomorrow is a new day! :goodvibes I wouldn't worry too much about today. You drank plenty of water so that should help. :goodvibes

Keep on keeping on! You are doing a great job! :cheer2:

Have a great Sunday! :sunny:

I don't think you did that bad. Keep drinking water and you will probably be able to flush everything out. We all have those kind of days (I ate a huge tub-o-popcorn at the movies yesterday) but we just have to do better the next day. As long as you are eating well at least 80% of the time, you are doing awesome! :thumbsup2

DD3 woke up at 4:35am this morning (bad dream, I think). She went right back to sleep, but no such luck for me. I finally gave up and got up at 5:20am. I've been cleaning out my office ever since. All of the flat surfaces (desk, shelves, window seat) are clear, and all of the baskets, etc are cleaned out! My normal floor piles (of things that need to be put away someplace else) are even gone!!! I don't think my office has been this clean since we moved in 7 years ago...

I've been drinking water at every opportunity. I really want to flush out as much bad stuff as I can. Normally my WI's on mondays don't bother me (because I weigh everyday  ), but for some reason this one really does. I reallly want to be at 165 or better. That will be 20 lbs since I started this journey with WISH 5.5 months ago, and it will be back to my pre-baby weight exactly 4 years later.

8:30a - 2 eggs, 3 slices ham, 1/2 english muffin, 3/4 peach, 12oz skim milk
12:00p - 2.5T hummus, cucumber slices, red pepper strips, peach
3p - 2 graham crackers, 8oz skim milk
6:15p - 1c chicken & sausage gumbo (2.5g fat), 3c salad w/ cucumber tomato, feta & goddess dressing, 1 slice sourdough bread, 1/4 slice garlic toast, 12oz skim milk
4 f/v
104oz water and still drinking ...

Anna

Tracy & Amy, Thanks for your encouragement. It is really hard for me to remember to move on and not dwell on the bad days. I'm getting better, but I appreciate your support and reminders. :grouphug:

Anna, I hope your weigh in today is what you hope it will be! If not, then its a new day and a fresh start. I think your food looks really pretty good. Weekends are tough plain and simple! If you don't get to that 20 pound goal this week, you will next. Just keep focusing on how far you have come because you have. And great job drinking that water, it really makes a difference. Happy New Week!
