My Journal to Me - Comments welcome!

Hi Anna,
Sounds like you are doing well with your food. Before company comes, I always find it very difficult to work in healthy eating and exercising between all the cleaning, cooking and other stuff company entails! Have a great Sunday and keep up your good work!

Spent the morning with more chore stuff, then took a break in the afternoon after a late lunch and sat out by the pool for a couple of hours. :sunny: Still have a lot to do, but it was nice to take a time out too! Food was pretty haphazard.

Food:
9:30a - 6oz FF yogurt, 12 oz skim milk
1:00p - granola bar
2:00p - small serving BBQ tri tip, small serving BBQ sausage
5:00p - 100 cal pack PB cookie crisps, 8 oz skim milk
6:30p - taco casserole, 1 margarita
Resisted: extra fritos w/ casserole, another margarita

Water: 105 oz

Exercise: lots of chore stuff, but no real exercise. :sad2:

Tracy & Amy, thanks for stopping by my journal. Definitely did not eat healthy today. I avoided the bad stuff for the most part, but didn't have a single veg or fruit. 1st Company arrives thursday night and then it is a steady stream of visitors until July 10! Got a lot to do still between now and thursday, but I am really going to work hard to get my exercise in now and when everyone is here too.

hey anna....like i told kim & amy....i haven't been posting as much lately...something about summer time and sitting at the computer...i just have a hard time doing it. I'll try to do better, i promise!! Thanks for keeping my journal from falling off to page 2! Also thanks for the support and kind words as well!

Hi Anna~

It's a new week and I know you'll do great! Keep on keeping on! You CAN do it! :cheer2:

When do your houseguests arrive? Were you able to get everything done that you wanted to before they arrive?

Hope you have a wonderful week! :sunny:

Even though you are not exercising, you are still being active! That's better than sitting on the couch eating Ben & Jerry's right out of the container, right?!?!?

I'm glad to see you are getting ready for your visitors. I am always still running the vacuum when they ring the doorbell... :confused3

Great plan to get those workouts in when you have company! Maybe some of them will want to go on your walks with you.

Sometimes I feel like I use up MORE calories doing housework than working out! Have fun with your guests and don't get stressed out!

Yesterday was a non-stop day - no time to even eat bad stuff (or good stuff either, for that matter.) Every meal except lunch was on the run. I did drink a lot of water though. I keep a Costco flat of water bottles in the car and went through quite a few yesterday. Day started with a "Retro Bill" assembly for the kids at school, drug awareness and general safety. In the afternoon, there was a parents forum "Preparing for the Social Pressures of your Middle Schooler". Both were very good, but frightening as to what kids are getting into at such a young age. :sad2: In between the two, I had a delightful picnic at the park with a fellow DIS'er! :sunny: and DD2 got to have some play time. The planned walk during swim practice didn't happen, unfortunately. DD2 was sound asleep in her car seat practically before we left school for the pool. If I tried to move her to her stroller she would have woken up and she really needed that nap. The evening was also jammed up with a meeting for some work we're having done at the house and then finished up the final edits to the PTA newsletter at around 10:30pm.

Food:
8:10a - 6 oz FF yogurt, 12 oz skim milk, 2 bites chocolate croissant (DD2 was not interested in sharing much with mommy :rotfl2: )
11:45a - McD Asian Chicken Salad, 1 french fry
3:00p - granola bar (need to find a new summer snack to leave in the car. It was very sticky after a hot afternoon in the car.)
5:40p - 3/4 pc grilled sausage
Resisted: DD's french fries (They weren't that good.)
Totals:
Cal: 895, Fat: 26 oz, Carbs: 103g, Fiber: 9g, Protein: 68g

Water: 122 oz

Exercise: none.

Marie - welcome back! I've missed your "tell it like it is" advice. :teeth: Confession: I like to journal right after dinner, so DH gets to deal with the bickering DD's doing the dishes, etc.

Tracy, still have quite a bit to do before the first wave of houseguests arrive on Thursday night. It will be a busy week.

Amy, my leg muscles are sore today! I don't even know what I was doing sunday, but something was using muscles that hadn't been used for awhile. I'm sure I'll still be running around doing last minute stuff as people are arriving :rotfl2: I know my DF visiting this weekend will walk with me, and hopefully my DSIL will walk with me too next week.

Jane, I hear ya on the housework! All of the houseguests visiting are close friends or family, all of whom I like. They will be great visits, just no "breathing space" inbetween each visit. It will be fun and worth it, but exhausting and hopefully not TOO diet destroying.

Thank you all for stopping by. I appreciate it. I'll try and get to journals tonight. Darn, I just realized we can't walk to school today. DD10 has to take her keyboard to school for class talent show practice. Gonna have to work the walk in somewhere else in the day ...

You'll get that walk in somehow! The one good thing you have about all these visitors is that it is at YOUR house, therefore you have control over what food is being served, etc. That is a big plus and should help you behave! :teeth:

I forgot to say that WI yesterday was 171.5 - so I took of the nasty 2.5 lbs from the week before plus another .5lbs. Got the PTA newsletter done and to the printer and then spent an hour on the couch with DD2 watching Sesame Street. She has definitely not gotten a lot of attention the last couple of days so we did some bonding. Andre Bonicelli (sp?), Italian opera tenor, did a duet with Elmo. It was hysterical. Ok, I just reread that. I am pretty pathetic to be amused by Sesame Street. Oh, well. I have no life - but it was funny! :happytv: Did get a walk in finally in the afternoon. DH has a bunch of stuff going on at work so when he wanted to share his 3 Musketeers Ice Cream bar with me and wanted teriyaki take out for dinner, I agreed.

Food:
8:10a - whole wheat toast w/ PB&J, 10 oz skim milk
9:45a - granola bar (on the way to the printers)
12: 15p - 1c tomato & red pepper soup, 6 triscuits, 1 slice cheese
3:00p - 1/2 papaya, 1/2c FF cottage cheese w/ olives
6:00p - 1/2 3 musketeers ice cream bar w/ DH
6:20p - teriyaki steak kabob, 1.5 chicken kabob, 1c cabbage salad (FF dressing)
Totals:
Cal: 1781, Fat: 74g, Carbs: 134g, Fiber: 15g, Protein: 155g

Water: 120 oz

Exercise: 45 minute walk w/ jogger stroller, then 30 minute walk home from school (75 minutes total)

Amy, I did get my walk in. It is good to have control of the food definitely. It is going to be the nightly poolside drinks that could do me in

Hi Anna, hope it goes well with your company. When I have company, I need those nightly drinks more than ever! Sounds like you are doing really well with your food, congratulations on your weight loss! You are doing great, have fun with your out of towners!

Hi Anna,

It sounds like you are busy, but you got your walk in! Yeah!!! :cheer2: I hope that you have a great time with your houseguests when they arrive! :goodvibes

Have a great Wednesday! :sunny:

Great job getting that walk in!! :cheer2: I'm glad to see your eating is back under control. Could you please send some of that power my way?!?

I bet you can mitigate some of the poolside drink damage by alternating cocktails and water. I have started doing that and it really does help.

You are going to have a great time with all your company, don't worry about it, just enjoy it! :teeth:

You're smart to keep water and snacks in the car. Alot of times thats my downfall. I get hungry running errands and then stop by McD's or get pizza cravings. Smart idea! Have a great time with your visitors.

Great day eating wise, not so good exercise wise. I had planned to squeeze in a quick 30 minute walk at swim practice before running down to pick DH up from his office (His car is still not done! Repair place rented him a car tonight until his is ready so I can go back to being taxi mom for the kids only.) Walk didn't happen. DD10 forgot her suit for swim practice so instead of my walk I ran her to Big5 and bought a new suit. She needed one anyway, but sheesh! How can you not pack your swimsuit into your swim bag for swim practice? Of course, DD12 did exactly the same thing last week only I had just bought her a new suit and wasn't about to shell out another $60 for another suit -- so she didn't swim that day. I think DD10 was a bit bummed that she still had to swim, but she does like her new suit and she did need it. Enough rambling ...

Food:
8:10a - 1c GoLean Cereal, 12 oz skim milk
10:30a - 11 baby carrots
12:00p - 2c lettuce, chicken breast, 1/2T teriyaki sauce
2:30p - 1/2 papaya, 6 oz FF yogurt
6:00p - 3/4c LF split pea soup, 1/2 serving pita chips, 12 oz skim milk
7:00p - 1/2c golden crisp cereal, 12oz skim milk (needed something sweet - TOM)
Totals: cal: 1269, Fat: 12g, Carbs: 179g, Fiber 22g, Protein: 122g

Water: 108 oz

Exercise: none - darn it!

Amy, When DH's family visits I definitely need a drink (generally have to start drinking mimosas by 8am on Christmas morning! :rotfl2:) to get through the visit. The visitors this time are not in that category for the most part! :rotfl2: We just have an awful lot of fun together. :teeth:

Tracy, thanks for your encouragement. I am really looking forward to my visitors.

Amy, Nearly lost it tonight when I started thinking about the last giant macaroon in the freezer - too much mac talk - but settled for the cereal. Good idea on the water. I have done that in the past (not for caloric reasons, just to slow down! ), but I had forgotten about it. Definitely will have to do that! Thanks for the advice.

Jane, I spend so much time running around in the car, it really helps to have something readily available. I do need to find a better "summer" car snack. Melty granola bars just aren't right. I think I am going to try Amy's almond snacks, but I don't know if I can just eat one....

Great job on your food yesterday! I've had DD forget her tap shoes before. I made her go without shoes... Needless to say, she only did that once - I bet it's hard to tap with no shoes on! :rotfl:

You can control yourself with the single serve almonds! For me, it is just the thought that another baggie would be another 210 calories and I am not willing to take that hit. And there are about 20-24 almonds in the bag, and that seems like a perfect amount. They would go great in the car - I keep one in my desk.

Have fun with all your guests!

Congrats on another day of good eating! Those almonds Amy mentioned sound good - they won't melt in the car & they're high in protein. I keep slivered almonds in my fridge and they're great for adding to salads, cereals and oatmeal to increase the protein content.

Sounds like your kids are keeping you busy with all of the swim practices, errands & stuff. Sorry you missed your walk but I know how that goes.

I thought of you all this evening at my PTA board meeting/party. I grabbed a bottle of wine from DH's wine frig to take to the party. Guess it was a really good one 'cause people were impressed. (Heck, It was at the front of the wine frig and it had a pretty label! :rotfl2: ) It was good and so were the other 4 glasses of wine and the hurricane! :rotfl2:

So this morning I WI - 169.5. This is my new base. My goal is to be at or below this for the next 25 days of houseguests. At the party this evening, I was pretty impressed with myself food wise. I dipped jicama into the guacamole dip instead of chips, ate small portions of the other stuff, and skipped the bread. All in all, it was better than I thought it would be except for the drinks. I did drink 3-4 bottles of water - alternated 1/2 bottle water w/ each "other" drink. :teeth: Now I am just trying to stay awake waiting for my houseguest to arrive - not an easy task since it is way past my normal bedtime and wine makes me sleepy besides.

Spent the day in frantic "get ready" mode, then picked the kids up from school. DD12 had the meltdown I have seen coming all week "I don't want to go to middle school!" She loves school and hates for it to end every year. Finishing elementary school is only making it worse. Finally I decided that she would skip the club swim meet this afternoon, but DD10 still wanted to do the meet. Took DD10 to the swim meet and then swapped cars/kids w/ DH at the after swim pizza party. Came home got a 2 minute shower and ran off to the above mentioned PTA party.

Food:
8:00a - whole wheat toast w/ PB&J, 12oz skim milk
2:00p - 2 hot dogs, 4 oz blueberries, skim milk(?)
6:15p - 5 glasses wine, 1 hurricane, jicama & guacamole, tri-tip, assorted salads, 2 slivers of chocolate cake, bite of PB brownie/cookie thing.

Water: 90oz before the party + 3-4 16 oz bottles

Exercise: none :sad2:

Anna

We are in the same exercise rut! :guilty: I thought of you yesterday - I was getting the kids bag ready for today (they go swimming 2x a week at their day camp) and asked DD7 to get me her swim suit so I could wash it. She couldn't find it and started crying. We looked all over, I think she left it at the camp. I told her she wouldn't be able to go swimming (it was 7pm, not like I was going to run out and get her another one!) and she proceeded to cry for about 1/2 hour! Lucky for her DH was out and about and picked her up a new one. We told her next time she will have to go without swimming to learn a lesson about responsibility...

Congrats on the weigh-in! You can kiss those 170's goodbye!

You did great at the PTA party. I love jicama with hummus. You enjoyed some things in moderation, which is exactly what you are supposed to do!!

Have fun with all your houseguests!

Way to go with hitting the 160s!!!!! :woohoo: I love those milestone numbers! You did a great job of eating at the party - how was the hurricane? Those are good and I haven't had one in ages.

Yesterday was hectic, but ok eating wise. Drank a lot of water instead of munching. Got the kids to school (not easy since they were excited about their friends being here). I got a walk in when I picked the kids up from school. :cool1: DHouseguests are former neighbors so we picked up a few extra kids for the afternoon. At one point we had 8 kids: 2, 5, 7,8,10,10,11,12 - fun, but wild. Houseguests went to another friends for dinner so DD12 and I ran out after dinner to find shoes for her to wear at 6th grade promotion next week.

In the middle of all of this crazy end of school/houseguest/etc time, DH accepted a new job offer yesterday.  so we have spent long evenings this past week discussing +/-'s. He loves his current job, but this is such a good opportunity we decided he couldn't pass it up. So he is going to be super busy getting things in order at his current job then coming up to speed at his new company. With all of this I am not getting enough sleep. Every time I have sat down for the past week, I start to fall asleep. Not good when watching 8 kids in the pool! I did get to sleep in this morning until 7:30 so I hope that helps.

Food:
7:00a - oatmeal, 1T slivered almonds, 8 oz skim milk
11:45a - 5 blueberries (all I could get from the kids)
1:30p - 2 tortilla chips
2:00p - 3/4c LF split pea soup, 6 triscuits, slice cheese
6:30p - 1/2 chicken breast, 1c broccoli, 3/4 wheat pilaf, 12 oz skim milk
Resisted: Mrs. Fields cookies and Coldstone Ice Cream while DD shoe shopping.
Totals: cal: 1097, fat: 30g, Carbs: 132g, Fiber: 20g, Protein: 83g

Water: 124oz

Exercise: 60 minute walk w/ jogger stroller - yay!

Thanks for the kudos on 169.5! Breaking 170 is a huge incentive for me to be as good as possible for the next several weeks. Thanks so much for stopping by my journal. I really appreciate it. I apologize upfront if I post somewhat erratically over the next several weeks whenever I find spare minutes.

Jane, hurricane was good! I hadn't had one in many, many years. Good thing I had the houseguests coming in later that night or I would have had more hurricanes! Hurricanes and wine really improve a PTA board meeting. Do ya think we could have them at our regular 8am monthly meetings? :rotfl2: Guess not .... :rotfl:

Amy, our swim team is associated with the Boys & Girls Club. They have a LARGE lost and found of swimsuits so your DD is in good company leaving her suit at camp. :rotfl2:
