My Journal to Me - Comments welcome!

I've never had a mai tai. They sound so good but I've never been brave enough to order one. In college I remember a friend going out for mai tais one night and the mai tais won.

Anna, just wanted to stop by and say great job maintaining the weight!! I know how difficult it can be especially with guests in the house....and mai tais....mmmm!!

Have a great weekend!

Did sort of ok yesterday until the evening. Major food fest started with hummus & pita, wasabi peanuts, 2 mai tai's, then dinner was ok except for the 2 glasses of wine. After dinner we played in the pool & spa and had another major smorgsbord: more wasabi peanuts, chocolate toffee macadamia nuts, TJ's peanut butter cups - and all this is after 9pm at night - ugh!

Food:
8:30a - 1c GoLean cereal, 12 oz skim milk
10a - 1/4c honey roasted mac nuts, 1c watermelon
12:30p - slice sourdough bread, slice cheddar cheese, 1/2 dill pickle, 1 chocolate toffee mac nut
4:30p - too much hummus and pita, handful of wasabi peanuts, 2 mai tai's
6:00p - large serving asparagus, 1/2c tomato & mozzarella w/ basil, 2 glasses wine (the family was having salmon - I don't do fish!)
9:30p - more wasabi peanuts, chocolate toffee macadamia nuts, TJ's peanut butter cups
Resisted - nothing! Totals: 10,000???

Water: +130oz (the only good thing I did was keep drinking water between "other" drinks!)

Exercise: none - I actually slept in for the first time in I don't know how long.

Tracy, thanks for stopping by my journal. I really am having a wonderful visit with my family, but I am going to need to do some damage control after everyone leaves.

Amy, I am definitely an "umbrella" drink girl :rotfl2: and my SIL makes an awesome mai tai! I have been using the measuring spoon on the mac nuts, but after the drinks & wine, I did not behave well. :sad2: We are having a great time though.

Jane, never had a mai tai? If you like juices & rums you definitely need to have one! They are yummy. My DSIL's recipe is actually not as sweet as most, but really good. We've been making them by the pitcher. :bitelip:

Scott, thanks for stopping by. We are having a good time. I don't know why my weight is staying, but I'll take it. :confused3

Thats my kind of food fest!!!! You're having way too much fun for one summer. I don't think I could have resisted choc toffee macadamia nuts either!

I am exactly like you! Once the cocktails start flowing, any sense of responsible eating magically disappears...

Just enjoy yourself and don't worry about it. If you put on a couple lbs while your family is there, OH WELL. You know when they leave you will get back into your exercise routine and eating right. This is just a little blip on the weight loss radar screen and you can get past it!

Sounds like you are having a fabulous time! :cool1: :yay:

Anna, enjoy your family and your Mai Tai's! Of course this coming from a self admitted Mai Tai addict! Seriously, having fun with the ones you love is never a bad thing, you can get right back on track once things settle down! Thanks for all your support and have fun!

Amy

Sounds like you had a good time, i agree with Amy, family time is precious :)
I must try a Mai Tai never had one but sounds delish!!

Sorry to be MIA for so long. I got the stomach flu saturday night. and it was not pretty. I was completely out of it all day sunday and it wasn't until about 7pm monday night that I was even able to think about eating anything more than chicken broth and toast (moved up to crackers and a slice of turkey!) Even though Dbro's family was "all better" when they arrived here last week, somebody was still a carrier 'cause he said this was exactly what they had. I haven't tracked the little I've eaten, no exercise, and even drinking lots of water still doesn't sound good, but WI this morning was 168. (the silver lining!)

Houseguest situation is calmer. Dmom & Ddad left Sunday midmorning (very vague memories of them leaving.), Dbro's family went to the zoo all day yesterday and I just let the kids watch TV, etc while I took it easy and washed down everything I could with chlorox - don't want anyone else to get this nasty thing! Dbro left early this morning. DSIL and kids are staying until next week though. DH took DD10 to the fair today, but the rest of us opted for a stay at home, hang out day. Still want to go to SeaWorld, but probably not until later in the week.

I think I am done with the mai tai's and mac nuts for awhile. Plain and bland are definitely the only things that sound appealing right now. DH wants to go out tomorrow night to celebrate his new job. Hopefully, I can find something that sounds appealing.

Sorry to hear you were under the weather. Are you sure it wasn't the Mai Tai Macadamia Nut Flu? :lmao: At least no one else got sick...

Congrats on DH's new job. I hope you are feeling well enough to celebrate at least a little bit! :wizard: I did 3 straight days of celebrating my new job...

Sounds like things are calming down - you'll be back into your routine soon!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: That actually was my initial thought except that I only had 1 mai tai that night and then I just kept being sick for close to 24 hours. :sad2: Dbro said that it had been exactly the same for him the week before. The good news is he bounced back pretty quickly afterward. Food is actually starting to sound a bit interesting this afternoon so hopefully, I'll be feeling much better tomorrow. DSIL will watch the kids (all 5!) if DH and I go out for a celebration dinner. That alone is pretty good incentive to try and get better. :)

Hi Anna, hope you are feeling better! I am glad food is sounding better, although you may go out just to sit and have a conversation with your husband with no kiddies around! Hope nobody else gets the crud you had.

Hi Anna,

It sounds like things are beginning to calm down at your house. I'm sorry that you aren't feeling well. :( I hope that you start to feel better soon! :grouphug:

Have you and your DH decided where you are going to celebrate his new job?

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! :sunny:

I was actually able to function as a mostly normal person yesterday, running kids to orthodontist, pay bills, etc. I even ate a small turkey sandwich w/ a glass of milk last night for dinner! Ya know I gotta be sick if even my beloved milk doesn't sound good. :rotfl2:

Food:
b - plain yogurt w/ 3T some kind of granola (all sorts of different foods in my house after other people have been doing the grocery shopping!)
l - turkey slices w/ crackers
s- 1/2 banana
d - small turkey sandwich, 12 oz skim milk

Water: ?? maybe 30 oz??

Exercise: none

Anna

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I am finally feeling decent again. I knew I was better when I felt like a glass of milk. I haven't felt lik having milk since last Saturday - has to be some kind of record for me! :rotfl2:

Chart House is DH's favorite place. He is thinking it might be better to go out Friday night though. We are going to just play it by ear for now.

I'm glad to see you are feeling better! Oooh, a Friday night date, how exciting! Be sure to go and celebrate while you have a "free" babysitter! :thumbsup2

Let's see, I haven't felt like drinking milk for about 20+ years... :rolleyes1

Glad your feeling better :)
Hope you & Dh get your night out!!

There's nothing like the flu to get you back on track with your diet!! Glad to hear that you're feeling better & your houseguests are winding down. Take some time for yourself!

Hi Anna, hope everybody is feeling well in your house! Is tonight your night out with dh to celebrate? Hope you have a great weekend and are fully recovered!

Hi Anna,

I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better. :goodvibes Hope you and your DH had a great time yesterday on your date night! :goodvibes

Have a great weekend! :sunny:

Hello All. Thanks for stopping by while I was MIA. By the end of last week, I was feeling back to normal, and luckily, no one else got sick. DH thinks DD3 may have had a touch of it early in the week, but it wasn't full blown.

DH and I did get a wonderful evening out on Friday to celebrate his new job. I still didn't eat a lot, but it was nice to just have some time for the two of us. Took DSIL and kids to the airport Monday afternoon. Dfriends are visiting now until next sunday. They actually arrived 7/2, but are staying at a hotel. We had a BBQ with them for the 4th and then we all went down to watch the fireworks at Seaworld. It was a nice day. It was also nice to wake up yesterday morning and have it be just my family in the house :rotfl2:

Back to the real reason for this journal -WISH! WI monday morning was 170. I was actually down earlier in the week but as I started to feel better I ate more. Also, water has not sounded good at all so I have been drinking ginger ale -- those calories add up, I think! However, since I have been at or below 170 since 6/15, I am going to change my clippie - down 15 lbs since I started this journey in mid April. :cheer2: I did miss the June exercise challenge and haven't signed up for the July one yet - I know I should though.

Starting today I am tracking my food intake again and trying to get more water in too. Exercise wise I have been a slacker. I walked a lot of SeaWorld on two separate visits and we are going to the zoo tomorrow I think, but regular exercise has not happened with all the visitors. :sad2:

Hi Anna,

It sounds like things are starting to calm down at your house. :goodvibes I think that you are doing a great job with your food and exercise with all the busyness that has been going on. :cheer2:

We used to have a Sea World here in northeast Ohio. I loved going there and walking around and seeing all the different show. Some of my favorite childhood memories come from going to Sea World with my family. I really miss it here in Ohio. :( Maybe we'll see it in Orlando one day, but it probably won't be the same.

Hope you have a great day today! :sunny:
