So I'm trying to speed DIS!! Get all the birthday; congrats; and  lined up. Hope I don't miss anyone before it blinks out!!

This is the perfect smilie for how I feel about my cable company right now!! :furious:

Let me preface this by saying I am *NOT* a "techie", but here's something that immediately popped into my head...

Do you happen to turn your computer off every night?

I'm thinking that when you start up, everything works fine, and then something, through the course of the day, interrupts your internet connection.

If this is the case, reboot when it stops working. If it starts to work after a reboot, chances are it's something with your computer, not necessarily the internet connection.

Now, I have NO IDEA what could be causing this. Perhaps a "techie" can offer some suggestions.

Hope this may be of SOME help!

I wish mine would only work in the mornings and maybe I could get someting done around here. LOL

LOL! Unfortunetly things don't get done because I can always sit here and play Boggle!!!

Rayelias, what we're starting to wonder so I guess I will ask you and others around here; We notice my computer does this when the other computer (DH's and son's) is on. Could it be something in our router or is that just a coincidence??? I really have no idea. :confused3 Our cable company says they're getting a good reading of data when checking our house.

btw, I have rebooted my computer but when I did the net still blinked on and off. :( Right now it's working fine but the other computer is completely off. I hate to turn it on.

I've been having a problem staying connected for the past week or so. This has happened before but not as bad. Of course the cable co. says that there's no problem. Usually, after a few days, it will be weeks before it happens again. It's getting very frustrating! :furious:

That sounds exactly like my problem. It's crazy but I can almost predict the time my internet gets "spotty". On weekdays around 5 pm and on weekends after 11:00 a.m. In other words it just started for me a few minutes ago. It's been fine all morning until now. :furious:

I'd check to make sure all your fans are running. If the PC is on all the time this is probably not it, but if you turn it on at breakfast and by lunch things go on the fritz you could have something overheating. Check the fan, make sure all the vents are clear (look in to them and vacuum if necessary).

Good luck. I had a bad run with my cable service a few years ago. It would go out every weekend. They sent service techs out and everything was fine. Finally I called and said you're about to lose a customer. I don't have any more vacation days allocated to Time Warner. I want this to work, now! They sent someone to check the connection at the house. The splitter fittings on the side of the house were not weather proof. It had been raining most weekends. New gizmo and it was better.

When machines have a pattern there's a reason, it's just hard to find.

This happened to me two summers ago. After three visits from the so-called repairman, I called the cable company and told them to cancel. I wasn't paying nearly $50 a month to only have Internet in the mornings. After they offered me nearly two months of free service, I agreed to let one last person come out and check. It turns out that it was something out on the pole that wasn't equipped to handle Internet. The people who lived here before me had had cable, but no Internet, so it hadn't been noticed before.

Your problem was the same as mine. Your cable comes in fine all day but your internet connections only works at certain times. I am not an expert, but an electrician told me it is a frequency problem. In layman's terms he told me I have too many cables split from the main line coming into the house. My house was built in the early 90s before internet, so they did not care as long as the tv worked. Also, many more houses have cable tv and cable internet sucking cable frequency at certain times. I was told the weather has something to do with it as well. The little light blinking steadily on your modem indicates that. I solved the problem by 1) Putting my cable modem on a seperate line (no tvs sharing) and 2) going to Radio Shake and buying a cable amp. The main wire goes into the amp and the signal is boosted out the 4 wires that lead to tvs on each floor and the 4th to my cable modem. I have not have a problem since. Try that before you :badpc:

Hmmm. I might have my DH read your post. See I was gone the rest of yesterday after about 11:00am. Right now (it's morning) it's working fine again but off I go to school....then when I get home it will be sporadic again. :(
