My husband will kill me but...

I am 5'10" and weighed in at roughly 275 last time we visited Disney World. My legs are kind of on the short side, most of my height, and weight are in my torso. I have big feet at 13W, and wide shoulders. There were a few rides where it wasn't necessarily comfy for me, but nothing where I felt like I totally didn't fit.

The tea cups were a bit squishy, more on the legs, and not enough foot room though. I didn't really have any trouble fitting my behind into the seat, or having my belly hit the spinner wheel, just had a tough time getting my feet somewhere other than wrapped around my neck hahaha.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, I felt that the restraint was really squeezing my knees / thighs together, which wasn't necessarily comfy um . . . well . .. where the legs meet the torso if you get the drift. I fit in the seat just fine, just the manly parts weren't really happy with the restraint system.

Other than those two, I have no problem fitting on anything. Tell him to settle down, and have fun, it will be fine!

Yes, as most have said, Disney is pretty accommodating to larger folks. I travel with some friends much bigger than your husband, and they have few problems at Disney. Space Mountain is very uncomfortable, mostly because of legroom, and 7DMT is a squeeze for sure, but I think your husband will be perfectly fine on most things at Disney.

If you're thinking about Universal, things might be a little different there. A lot of the thrill rides can be tight. Though at 250, honestly, he's probably well within fitting most things and they have the larger seats on a lot of rides too should that be needed.

I am not tall but on test track i banged my knees up. Not sure where i was sitting (front , back or side). But one spot was not good for knees

My DH is 6'3 and weighs more than 250. He fits on most everything. Sum of All Thrills was not possible for him, nor was Virtual Space Mountain at Disney Quest.

There are a few rides that can be more or less comfortable for him though. He likes the front row of TT since his legs are so long, and he likes the back of SE for the same reason.

Yes - I'm not as tall as others here (just 6 feet), but I have a lot of trouble with AstroOrbiter. Last time I made it even worse by trying to ride it with someone (never again).

I'm a big guy (well over 6 feet) and DS is about 6-2 240. We went to ride Astro Orbiter 1 time and for some reason the ground-level CM thought we could both fit in 1 ride vehicle. We had a good laugh trying to wedge ourselves into that thing. The CM at the top apologized--DS rode by himself, and he gave both of us anytime FPs (which we promptly used on 7DMT).

So yeah, big folks on Astro Orbiter--tough fit, especially for 2. :D

I'm 6'4 and wish I was only 250. every ride is fine for me. The only recommendation I have is space mountain, he should not ride in the front of the car (rows 1 and 4), it's not obvious at first but your legs go under the seats in front of you but the first seats in the car there is less leg room.
Very true. I'm 6'3"/245lbs. Wear 48" shoulders coat and 36"waist. Never had any issues on any rides except this. Avoid the front seat at Space Mountain.

We went with my very overweight (350ish) parents last time and they were able to get on everything they wanted to, even BTMR. The "at large" resource on allears was helpful.

There is a test car for Everest hiding behind the gift shop exit.

7DMT is probably going to be the hardest with the narrow individual lap bars.

Just as the other posters have said, he'll be fine! My dad is 6'3" and around 300# he always fit on everything. This past January we took my BIL he's not that tall prob around 5'10" but around 300# so he's more round than my dad and he didn't have any problems either. I do know SM will be harder on taller people but it's not like he won't be able to fit. I wouldn't suggest Astro Orbiter either lol and whatever they tell you don't ever put two average sized adults in there...torture pure torture! :sad2:

I'm 6'3" and 250, he'll be fine. I'm able to ride all of the rides. Sometimes i have to cross or position my legs a certain way to get lap bars down, but I've always made it work.

I'm 6'2" and 300 pounds (working on getting the weight off.) I didn't have any problems, except on 7DMT, where I had to put my backpack above the bar (it wouldn't fit on the floor of the car) and on the Mad Hatter's Tea Party - there wasn't room in the tea cup for me, my family and our backpacks, so I took their packs and sat that one out.

I did notice on some rides, like Its a Small World and Pirates of the Carribean that the seats were low to the floor of the boat. It felt like my knees were in my chest.

7DMT and the Barnstormer are the only two I think he might be uncomfortable in. Possibly also Space Mountain. He should be allowed on all of those, however.

Hopefully this thread and "everything pooh sized" and also allears.net the WDW At Large section will reassure your husband! You have very little to worry about at WDW as far as ever doing the "walk of shame" away from a ride you couldn't fit on. This is quite different from many other amusement parks. The allears site also includes descriptions of turnstiles, more discussion of comfort depending on height and where one carries their weight, tips on how to easily hadle restraints, seat belts, leg room, etc.
I was sure my dad would be offended last trip when I started talking about these sites, but I was so glad he read them and felt more confident! He was considering not doing the family trip out of this fear, but of course wouldn't actually explain that. I'm glad my sister guessed the reason and we helped him through it. At 6'3" and 300 lbs he came along, rode everything and had a great trip!!

My husband is 6'4" and he won't go on Space Mountain again because he says it's hard for him to fit because of his height. (Once our DD is tall enough that may change.) We did rider swap for SDMT, so I didn't see how he fit, but he didn't say anything about it being uncomfortable. He's too much of a baby for RnR. Lol.

My son played offensive line for Appalachain State University, so he was very large. 6'3" 290-300. Huge arms, legs, shoulders. Only thing that was tight was mine train. Everything else wasn't a big deal. Was he comfortable on most rides? No, but he made it.

My boyfriend is 6'4" and about 240 and he said 7DMT was a little tight and that BTM was tight for him as well. He banged his knees the entire time. He loved Space Mountain although I was worried the entire time that he would hit his head. Can't say other parks - because he hasn't been...but that will change in Sept! woo hoo

I could have a blast at WDW and never step on a ride but aside from that.. there will be some tight rides on the big coasters... but nothing he won't be able to manage..
FYI, do NOT sit in the FRONT of the car on Space Mountain.. that front seat has zero leg room for me and I am on 6' . The ones behind have plenty..

I'm about the same size and I have no trouble riding anything at WDW.

7DMT feels a bit tight when I first get in but it's a short ride so I just deal with it. Space is just an uncomfortable ride for me in general. As long as he avoids the front seat he will be fine as far as fitting. If he ever gets back pain for any reason I would tell him to avoid Space though as it always messes with my back.

Not sure if you are planning on visiting the other Orlando parks but but Sea World and UO have rides that are quite uncomfortable for "Big and Tall" men. The dragon challenge was not made for men over 6 feet that have large shoulders, arms, chests or even beer bellies. I always ask for the "big guy" row on that one.

im 6'6" 330 and i fit on everything just fine. 7DMT and Space Mountain are the ones i have trouble with, 7DMT because of the width and SM because of my height, but I still fit. here's me on space mountain with my knees practically in the seat in front of me. (excuse my stupid face)

Lol, not a stupid face. Thanks for your reply. I showed my husband. Hopefully he won't be worried any more

Thank you for your post! That "Walk of shame" is exactly what he's worried about. Although, he'd never tell me that.

6'3, 275 lbs here. This is the only issue I had on my trip last week. No leg room on the front cars of Space Mountain. Other than that he'll be fine.
