So, I come home last night at midnight from work, walk in the house and notice it was hotter inside than out. I look at the thermostat and it is set on 74, but the temp is 85!:earseek:. I go wake my husband up and ask him if the air is broke. He says yeah, it's been like since he got home from work (5pm). I asked him why didn't he call someone or tell me when I had talked to him on the phone at least twice while I was at work. He didn't really give me an answer, just kinda said he didn't know what to do about it he'd just wait till I got home. AGHHHHHH!!!!!
I cannot believe this!!!! he could have at least told me about it on the phone! I work for an answering service and we answer for like 10 different a/c companies in our area! I have numbers right there where I can reach someone! I know most of them on a first name basis!
That isn't even all that I am mad about. The a/c was on when I came home and blowing out hot air. He actually told me it hadn't cut off since he was home. So I said to him, You mean to tell me that you didn't just turn it off when you realized it wasn't working? You just left it on blowing hot air and wasting electricity, and our light bill is high enough in the summer already?! He didn't answer.
I opened all the windows and in like 5 mins the place was cooler. It really made me mad also because one of our 4 year old twins, Ian is autistic and can't control his body temp so he really shouldn't get that hot. All three of my kids were asleep, but their little bodies felt so hot. I got wash clothes and cooled them down while they were asleep.
I called someone I know this morning and he will be here before 1pm. What makes a college-educated man so dumb in real life?? I told him that when our water heater explodes (which is one of the other top problems I get at my job besides the a/c) that I hope he will call me instead of waiting till I get home.
Thanks for listening. I needed to rant. Now I can have a good day!:wave2:

Feel Better. I am sure he is not a moron about everything!LOL! I hear you though. DH wouldn't wait for that, but I could come home after being out all day and say "what did you feed the kids?" He would say, "I didn't, I dont kow what to feed them." So I come in and the kids are telling me (and crying to me) that they are hungry! HELLLOOOO!! For smart people...they sure a dumb!

Try to identify the things he's good at, his gifts, and focus on those. My dear DH will not cook, but he always cleans up and he's constantly fixing things around the house. We all get different gifts and different weaknesses so I'm thankful for the gifts he has that I don't.

Since I know he won't cook, I buy gift certificates for local restaurants and keep them at home so if he's in a lurch, the kids will get fed - at least from Wendy's or Pizza Hut! :sunny:

I know your DH isn't perfect (no one is) but I'm sure he's got some great qualities. If this is the worst thing he does, you're pretty lucky!

If this was just a fluke and he's normally level headed and logical than I'd just let it go. We all have blond moments occasionally ;) . However, if this is typically how he handles problems than I'd be a little worried. The fact that he didn't shut off the a/c and open the windows is a little mind boggling  . It's lucky no one got sick. I don't want to make a mountain out of a mole hill but people have died doing things like that.

As an aside, running the fan on the a/c actually helps draw the humidity out of the air and cool things down. Our a/c broke last summer and our repairman recommended doing that. Some days when it's cool but humid out I'll have the windows open but the fan running. It won't overheat the unit or run your bill up too much.

I feel for you... sounds just like DH. I'll come home from work, and our conversation will be like this:

me: what'd you have for lunch?
him: nothing
me: why not? we have plenty of food.
him: but it all needs to be cooked
me: huh? nothing that can be nuked?
him: I can't find it

Ah... story of my life. :teeth:

Cheer up... you're not the only one with a hubby that's follow-up challenged!
