This weather in the northeast is a killer on my hands!! They are rough (DH thinks it's funny to call me alligator hands!) and sometimes they even split. I don't have ezcema or any condition like that, just wash my hands alot. Anyone have suggestions of some good hand cream??

Thanks - Lori

Avon makes a silicone glove which is great.. I love it.. they also have a hand exfoliating cream to put on befor eyou put lotion on.. you wash with it. It's my miracle cure and much less expensive than say, Mary Kaye... now... if you have horrid dry hands I find this to work every time...

get vasoline and socks (or gloves.> I always use old socks).. SLATHER Your hands.. goop it on, girl.. don't be grossed out it's ok if chunks are on your hands of the stuff.. put the gloves on CAREFULLY (may need someone to help so vasoline doesn't all roll off (panty-ho style)... do it just before bed. Next morning, take off socks, wash hands and they're BABY SMOOTH:)

IMO, Eucerin is the very best for dry hands. My hands also split in the cold weather ~ I buy the cream in the "tub" not the lotion. It's really heavy, but if you use it before bed each night and then use a lighter lotion during the day ~ you'll be amazed with the results!!

I use Johnson's softlotion, 24 hour moisture. It is great, and was recommended by Good Housekeeping! I got it at the grocery store!

I agree with Vaseline. Just make sure you wash your hands first and leave them damp before you put it on. Vaseline will seal your skin and pores, so the idea is to seal in some water. I have been doing it in the am after showering, after I've put makeup on and dressed, so as not to grease up my face or clothes. Then when I'm at work I wash my hands "gently" with soap but mostly just rinse them, so as not to wash off the Vaseline. I do the entire ritual again after washing the dishes at night, and it has worked like a charm!

Right before I go to bed, I put Aquaphor on my hands-it's too greasy for me to wear during the day, but it really helps!

With all of the hand washing (and also being in the Northeast), my hands have been bleeding they're so dry!

I am here too in the NE, I use Bath & Body Works "Look Ma New Hands" (smells great too) or Crabtree and Evelyn "Gardner's Glove". Both are a bit pricier than drug store brands but I think they are worth it, both seem to soak in & not wash off. Burt's Bees also has several good hand creams.

I lOVE my Palmers Cocoa Butter formula. Also buy it in the tub and it is really cheap...works like a charm....and it is not too greasy..

I love the burts bee's beeswax and banana. It's a little greasy but it works.

But my hands down favorite (pun intended! ) is the Neutrogena stuff in the tube. I can't remember its exact name but it's labelling is red and blue and there's a flag on it. :rotfl: That stuff kicks butt for dry hands. Love it!

I've tried them all - I layer 3 kinds of lotion everyday after my shower and the best I've found for dry hands is Vaseline Petroleum Jelly Cream Soothing Moisture Moisturizing Cream with Cocoa Butter. It is sold in a tube, is very thick and works great. So many lotions sting when I put them on and this one doesn't. It is my first layer for really dry spots. I put it on my feet everyday with cotton socks and it has worked wonders! I've tried Eucerine, and other heavy duty brands and for one reason or another - they don't work - and/or they sting. The only problem with this cream is that the cocoa butter one is hard to find. I buy them 15 tubes at a time through Drugstore.com so I get free shipping. Otherwise, I'd go the plain ol' Vaseline route others have already mentioned. Put it on thick 'n chunky like someone else mentioned and put some cotton socks or gloves on over it and leave it on for a long time;o)

I should've mentioned.. I don't use it but my aunt and cousins ONLY use shea butter

The Burt's Bees Milk and Honey is GREAT for dry skin. Just one or two applications and I'm like new! Plus it's not greasy, not a real strong scent (but a very clean scent), and a little goes a LONG way.

I have a friend who had a laser face lift done - where they burn off layers of skin to get to a smooth layer. Her doctor had her putting Crisco shortening on her face for 2 weeks after her surgery. Now, that is a HEAVY DUTY moisturizer!

I like Camille Beckman- Glycerine Hand Therapy. I get it in card shops, it is easily identified because it has a little fabric rosebud on the lid, it is a creme in a jar. I use it on my feet, too, it is the best I've found.

i have a problem with dry skin but i get it because i have a thyroid problem and i am taking thyroxin to get it levelled out.
for the skin problem i use Creative nails Solar butter works great .
