I got up on Saturday. Wife dressed me in funny Bright WISH shirt. Wife put me on a big bus and I went far away (EPCOT). Saw other people in bright WISH shirts. Now for my training for the half. I walked from the 1st staging area to the 2nd staging area. Fireworks went off over head, and many people picked me up and pushed me down the course about 11.5 miles. At some point near mile 12.1, I woke up in pain. I kept asking for my wife... but everyone told me the same thing... I would have to walk another 1 mile to see her. Well, since she had the room key with her (and all the money and tickets and plans...and she is a cute girl...) I thought I may as well just go that last 100 miles..... or 1 mile (same thing by then ). A couple of pointer for next time..... BODY GLIDE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BODY GLIDE !!!!!!!!!! BODY GLIDE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok, that was 3 points, not 2. Oh, and get this.... the next day.... up at 2am. I meet some young lady who took me far away in her car (WWoS) , then she leaves me there all by myself..(missed ya Krista)... what the heck.... oh wait, what did my wife mumble to me before I left the room??? oh ya, look for some of those Bright WISH shirts.... they will comfort me....or was it have fun and behave (why does she always say that??? Is she trying to confuse me??? which one????... have fun.. OR behave??? ) well anyway.. I walk blindly towards these WISH shirts (oh, I was also walking in pain... did I mention BODY GLIDE?????) and sure enough, they started talking to me.(Kristi, Judy, Angie, and one other unsung hero).... well, long story short, we put some water on a table, a bunch of people ran past us, grabbed FREE water from our hands, we dumped the left over water on the ground (I wanted to carry all of the full tables of water to another water stop... somehow I lost that one). And then Kristy let me tag along with her to AK. We stood on the curve by the front gate cheering for the WISHERS. Remind me to pass a law stating only WISHERS may wear Bright LOUD WISH shirts... It got confusing there for awhile. Well, I can say I think I saw all of the WISHERS who passed that point. On a sad note, when I saw my DW coming around the corner... I knew she was done. I wish I could have helped her... but by then it was over. I will never be able to thank KRISTI for all of her help and kind words while waiting for me and the DW to catch a bus back to POP. Once again, if any one wants to know what makes a WISHER a WISHER... just talk to Kristi. ... and Judy... what a blast you are... I will pour water with you anytime ...:cheer2: ... and one more thing... thanks ANNE... I think I gained 5 pounds from your cake...

Great report.

It was fun doing the water stop and you were probably wondering why I was talking to you on the bus since I was just some wierd girl with no WISH shirt.:thumbsup2 I'm very sorry your wife's race got cut short.

angie

Ok , alot slow.. but I figured out you were a WISHER... well.... after I asked Kristi and Judy.... I have always been taught not to talk to strangers on a Disney bus...LOL

Jim,
You ate the WHOLE THING??!!!:scared1:

There is so much more to this race then that finish line!! GREAT SUPPORT _ GREAT TEAM SPIRIT!!
:cheer2: for DW!!

Jim... you are a riot!!!! :) I am sooooo happy I ran into you and Pat at EPCOT and ignored my buzzy thing telling me to come and eat!!! :lmao:

I just can't believe we didnt' see each other more often.... and yes.. I too was saying... rats.. I should have gotten their number on Friday! Oh well.... lesson learned!!! I guess I just figured I would have the same Pat karma as the last trip where every time I turned around.. there she was!! :rotfl:

I LOVED your report.. and yes... I own stock in Bodyglide now.. Well.. not really.. I just wish I did! LOL!!

Kathy

I did not eat the whole cake... I believe you and Robert each had a tiny slice... and I let Pat nibble......thank goodness you guys ate what you did... that would have been another 3 pounds !!!!!!! LOL:rotfl2:  :rolleyes1

Heehee liked the report! Altho I feel sorry for your DW, that makes me so sad :( Congrats on your half!

Becky

Jim, Congratulations on your Donald. I am so sorry you missed the discussions about Body Glide and men's running (under) wear. I know you will be an expert on that next time around for sure! Thanks for being there and volunteering to give me FREE water!

I'm proud of Pat for knowing that she needed to get that bus. I know she is disappointed, ok that is probably an understatement, but she is wise too.

Oh Jim, I've been called many things but never a blast. Thanks! :lmao: I had a heck of a lot of fun Sunday morning and I wonder when Pat will let us borrow you again??! :rotfl2:

Umm, how come you got cake and I got.....none?!?!?!

Now Jim, we got you safely to the start and I made sure to ask if you and Angie were okay before I left....and I saw you at the end and you seemed fine then too. Angie, I lost track of but I did see you. You were not the least bit confused and, were you sleeping and keeping all that inside????? Body glide...:lmao: Glad you survived the half and glad everyone had a great time at the full..and after..and dessert.....

What, Anne was passing out cake. She must have run out before I got to her. :lmao:

Glad you were able to finish and thanks for helping out the next day.

Bill

Jim - Congratulations on your Donald. Loved reading your race report. Thank you for being at the water stop & for being out there scream teaming. Pass on my best to Pat. Like Lily said....she is a very smart lady. Not only did she have the courage to start....she had the courage to stop.

JAMES!!!!

Now, team...this is what REALLY happened..

My daughter bought this super rich, utterly delectable ::MickeyMo chocolate cake Sunday night. We each had a piece, but since we were leaving the next morning, there was no way I was taking it back with me. So, I took it over to Pat and Jim with instructions to take it to Boardwalk Bakery and SHARE with the team!!! Really, that's the truth!! ::yes::

I am glad to see I wasn't the ONLY one who felt left out with the cake!!! I mean really.. JIM, Anne... I thought we were friends??? :confused3

And as far as Pat goes... I think she already knows that she is my idol! :) We are all so proud of you Pat for going the distance.. and knowing when to stop... I think that has to be the hardest decision to make. Thank you Pat for leading by example! You Rock in my Book!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Great race report, Jim! Congratulations on your Donald! I'm sorry you didn't get the memo on the Body Glide. Did you hear the one about bandaids on your nipples? I'm just sayin'

Drats! Kathy and Karen beat me to it, Pat! Let me tell you -- no one has any doubt at all that you are a marathoner. You are also my hero. It takes a lot of courage and wisdom to know when your body is sending you a message. I'm sorry your race was cut short due to circumstances beyond your control. I am so glad Kristi and Jim were waiting with you for that bus. :grouphug: And I am sooo glad we all got to see you Monday morning. You really are my hero, sweetie! :worship:

Thanks everyone for your very kind words....I plan to post a belated trip report soon (hopefully tonight), and I really appreciate all the support from my teammates!

Good to hear from you, Pat! I had an awesome trip with Pat when she visited me down in NC for the Run to Victory. I was really sorry that I didn't get to spend more time with you and Jim during my whirlwind Disney trip -- and now that I read his race report, I'm REALLY sorry! What a fun guy!

Pat, the only marathon I've ever DNFed was Disney many years ago (2004 maybe?). I raised money for a charity that year and ended up finishing the half rather than the full (that's when they ran both races concurrently). I remember how I felt telling everyone how sorry I was that I'd disappointed them amd let them down -- and they told me I was CRAZY! Their take on it then, and mine now, is "No regrets!" You trained, you tried -- and there is nothing to feel bad about when you get out there and put your heart on the line.

You keep after your races, girl! I envy you that 50-state-half-marathon goal! I'm so proud of you! It was a real pleasure having you visit me, and an honor to call you my friend!
