My Fourth Solo Trip - Just Believe and Your Dreams Will Come True

I'm one week closer to my trip. I leave on a Sunday, so every Sunday I get excited that my trip is one week closer. I know I started keeping track of the weeks once I reached twelve weeks or so, and it's so close now, less then a month to go.

I worry about completely stupid and pointless things, and as my trip gets closer and closer, I seem to worry about more and more pointless things. Today I went through the menus for the restaurants I'll be eating at, and checked to see if I have about an even number of beef and seafood appetizers and entrees picked out, since I don't want to eat too much of the same kind of meat.

I kept a tally, and I'll be eating a good amount of seafood, two filet mignons, as well as three other meat entrees, two burgers, and some lamb and duck for my entrees. For my appetizers I have a lot of seafood ones picked out, including shrimp, crab cakes, and calamari. Actually, only twenty-percent of my appetizers are not seafood.

I did desserts to just for fun, and it looks like I have a nice mix of desserts selected, cheesecakes, creme brulee, and some fruit desserts, as well as some oddball one that don't really have a catergory, like the cream cheese wontons at Yak and Yeti.

Of coure I could easily decided to order something else, or the menus could change, which would make this completely pointless, but I love planning what I'm going to eat.

Mmmmm you're making my hungry!!!

My favorite mini bfst (or snack) is at sunshine seasons in the bakery area. They have a delightful little berry and custard tart thingy that is wonderful!! It's less than $4 (I used a snack credit for it if Feb) I can't wait to enjoy one while I'm waiting for my Soarin FP time!!!!

Are you talking about the fruit tulip? I had one of those once at the Fountainview Cafe before it switched to an ice cream place.

I don't know what is was called..I just had it cause it looked so yummy!!
It was a good 4-5"around with a light flan style tart crust, custard filled with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries (and maybe blackberries too) liberally covering the top. I wish I had a picture...my discriptive storytelling has much to be desired!!!:rotfl:

So I have officially decided today that I will not be going to Disney again after this trip until at least 2010. I was considering going again shortly after coming home from this trip with a friend, but the plans for that trip changed, and since it was so close to my current trip, I passedd on it. That will allow me to save more money for a trip, (maybe two trips,) in 2010.

That's my rational thinking. Another part of me is kicking myself for passing up on an almost free trip to WDW. All I would've had to pay for is my ticket, but then I would also have to buy a Universal ticket as well, and food, so it would add up quickly. Plus we were going to drive down, and fifteen hours in the car didn't sound like my idea of fun. Plus, considering who else is going, I think it would make me remember a lot of bad memories, and stuff I don't want to think about.

So I'm thinking now I'll go either for a long trip in the fall of 2010, for like two weeks or more, or a week in the spring, and then ten days or so in the fall.

I'm also highly debating getting another job, since it seems money is a little tight recently. I have enough to pay all of my bills, and take a trip once a year, but there is very little left over, but if I got a second job, I could put all those earnings in savings.

And now I'm blabbering, and not even really talking about my trip anymore. So I'm going to go have dinner, and watch Ariel's Begining, which is the new Little Mermaid movie, which I picked up after work today. That should put me in a better mood.

I hear ya about money. I'm in the same situation. I'm thinking of getting a 2nd job after my trip to help pay for the holidays and stuff. At least we're fortunate enough to be able to one trip, right?

Good plan-there's a free dining bounceback on, though, so make sure your will power is strong, :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yeah, I wasn't going to go this year, but then they offered the bounce-back while I was there last year. :rolleyes1

Absolutly, I am just going to make sure I have a great time this trip. I've gone six years without a trip before, I should certainly be able to make it two years without going again.

I try to go every yr with DS. If there's a good bounceback while I'm there I'll book. If there isn't I'll hope for the best with my AP again. If all else fails AAA at Pop! lol

I'm leaving on a Sunday TOO!!!:cool1:

I hardly have all the restaurants chosen, and never pre-select what I will eat.

Menues tend to change at WDW every season, so even though you may 'thinK" menues posted are current-in Sept that get a overhaul at most venues. It will be fun to choose something new-I can't wait.

Actually, it's better healthwise to eat (not fried) seafood & chicken than beef...so I eat lots of grilled seafood when possible.

I've been reading your pre-trippie but I'm not a planner at all. I'm going to Disneyland Paris in 3 weeks and I have not even looked at places to eat. I do hope the French food is as good as the food at Bistro de Paris at Epcot because that's the only other place to get authentic French food and I can't wait to compare.

Did you select your meals before making your ADR's? The reason I'm asking is have you planned it so that you don't have back to back steak dinners or back to back fish dinners? I never plan what I'm going to order but I know I wouldn't want to eat steak 2 nights in a row.

I know menus change, so it won't bother me if the item I've chosen is off the menu when I go. I have such a hard time choosing what I want, (so much sounds so good,) that it saves time if I choose before I go. Besides it's something extra to plan, and I do enjoy the planning.

I've never eaten at Bistro, though that's on my list of restaurants I want to try in 2010. When I do eat there I want to do the tasting menu thing. I've eaten at Chefs de France before, and liked it, though I haven't eaten there again.

I made my plans so I wouldn't be eating at steakhouses or seafood restaurants back to back. I'm eating at two steakhouses, but one is at the begining of my trip, and one is near the end, same thing with the seafood restaurants. Of course that won't help at all if I decide to get steak at the seafood restaurants, (I've read good reviews for the steaks at the seafood restaurants,) or if I get some kind of seafood at the steakhouses, which going by what's on the menu, I may also do.

I ALWAYS plan my meals when I choose my ADRs lol. I need to plan out every last detail. I also try to plan DS' meals but I know his are highly likely to change. I have OCD so if I don't do it, I start to panic. I also figure out the cost of all meals so I have tips set aside for each meal before we leave. See why no one else likes to travel with me? :rotfl:

And that's one of the reasons I backed out of that other trip, it was just supposed to be me, my friend, and her husband, but now there's like a dozen people going, and there is no planning. No ADRs or anything. It would drive me wild if I went. I need to plan everything. The friend I was going to go with said she'd go with me on my next trip, so I wouldn't "have" to go alone, (she can't grasp the idea that I do have fun by myself, not that I'd mind if we went together,) but my planning may drive her insane.

I love reading about other peoples trip plans! We are going next month and cant wait for it, it will be my first trip with my two daughters so I dont think we are going to be able to go to all of the nicer places, but I sure would like to go to some of these nicers places!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I asked this in another thread but followed your signature here, so tell me:

Our travel agent didn't tell us anything at all about needing reservations at any of these resturants, but so many people here seem to think we need them.

Don't you think we can try to walk up to the poidums and ask the waiter if we can eat? Wont they keep some tables open for people who dont have the reserv. ? Thank you so much and happy Disney'ing!

I think you may have gotten your answer, but you may be very surprised that there are few tables left for TS at dinner. Honestly the best thing to do now is call the reservation center and have them pull up each day and tell you what is available. You may have to do a lot of TS lunches, but with your DDs, that may be OK. Character breakfasts may also be hard to get.

I am not trying to discourage you, but during free dining, things get booked 6 months in advance.

That's the same reason I refuse to go with my family anymore. We usually go with my parents, my aunt and uncle, and their 3 kids. No planning. Minimal ADRs. I can't do it anymore. They drive me crazy!

Your travel agent should of told you to make ADRs. The restaurants always book up during free dining, but maybe you can call now and hope there's some good stuff available. But no, Disney won't hold tables for walk-ups.

I agree. Every time I've called to change something recently it's very difficult to move anything around.

The last time I went with my family, (a group of twelve,) we all wanted to do different things, and my grandmother didn't want us to split up since it was a family vacation, and she wanted us to be together. That lasted until right after breakfast the first morning. Of course it probably didn't help that we ranged in ages from five to seventy-something.
