My Fourth Solo Trip - Just Believe and Your Dreams Will Come True

I'd recommend Wolfgang Puck Express for your arrival day lunch, we've always found the food there "a cut above", and they bring the food to your table, so there's no tray "juggling". :cool1: They have great little pizzas and their bbq chicken quesadilla looks just like the one at the Puck Cafe (had it there and it was fabulous, haven't tried it at the Express so can't vouch for it 100%, just going by what I've seen in pictures).

Also, you can get a decent creme brulee for dessert on THE PLAN, or a lot of people have said the packaged cookies are good (and portable, if you don't have room for dessert right then and there).

Hope that helps! Good luck with your last minute dining decisions.

Planning is .5 of the fun, isn't it? :goodvibes
I love planning, I agree that it's part of the fun as well. Maybe not a whole 50%, but close to it.

I always keep track of where we went and where we ate ......everytime we get back to our resort..either in the afternoon to go for a swim I start my writings...I keep every receipt so I can see what the cost of things were each trip and what the taxes were.....I know that a few months ago we went to Le Cellier with our friends......so five adults and one child.....all had appetizers and entree and one had dessert.......our total was 228.47 then we had our DDE card and got rid of 36.73....The Waitress (who was fantastic) received a tip of 36.73... Automatic gratuity......

What I wish is that Disney would leave the total cost on the final reciept with the dining plan, since if I forget to write down what it was right away, I know I won't remember the exact cost later.

Last year I was so obsessive about keeping exact track of the costs, that one day, when I got a CS breakfast, and forgot what it cost, a few days later I got the same exact meal, just so I could know the cost.

Perhaps I'm just a wee bit excessive with that. :rolleyes1

I have a lot of meals planned, as well as a lot of days that I am pretty much in the parks from opening to closing, only taking breaks for my meals, but even on the days I have three meals, my breakfasts are before park opening, and my dinners are usually after park closing, so my only break on those days is when I stop for lunch.

I wish I could go as long as you but I would be exhausted! :sad2:

Trust me, last year I had a ten-day trip with my mom, and while that was nice and all, I prefer being solo. A lot of people think it's crazy that I enjoy vacationing by myself, and even more so that I don't have a problem eating by myself, and don't I get lonely? But I really don't.
I'm not working right now so I spend most of the day by myself, and I'm perfectly happy with me! Good for you. :thumbsup2

I'm sure if I had longer trips, and was there for a month or so I might start to get a little lonely, and I do miss my pets, but other then that I am always glad to leave work and my family behind for a few weeks, and just do whatever I want with no worries or responsibility.
You're right about the pets. :rotfl2: We went on a 10 day cruise and as much as I didn't want to go home, I wanted to see the cats. :cat:

Yeah, and I know they'll be fine, since my parents will be there to feed them and stuff, but they won't be spoiled. My one cat is really funny, she gets mad at me when I come back and ignores me for a few days.

Loving your pre-trip report - I'm a foodie too, and wish I could eat everywhere at WDW. Keep 'em coming!
A goal of mine is to eat at every Disney restaurant at some point in my life. The problem is I have so many favorites, that I always have to repeat a bunch, and that leaves less days to try new restaurants.

I'm thinking about changing two of my ADRs. Not the restaurants themselves, but the times of my dinners. One is because I think I may do something else later that night, and the other night I'm concerned about transportation.

Looks like I may be calling Disney Dining again after all.

I'm reading along too!!

Great start...my 1st SOLO is coming up in October...I'm so hooked on other DISers SOLO trip plans!!

I got a packet from Disney in the mail today, the vouchers for Planet Hollywood, and my Year of a Million Dreams luggage tag. Even though I knew what the papers all said I read over all of them anyway.

I took pictures of the t-shirts I have picked out for my character meals, that coordinate with where I'm eating, I'll be posting those later.

Here are the pictures of some of the shirts I'm taking with me.

001-1.jpg
I'll wear the Cinderella one to CRT, and the Snow White one to Akershus.

005.jpg
I'm not sure when I'll wear these two, since I have three different meals at restaurants where the characters are Mickey and friends. I do want to wear the Donald one when he's at a meal, but the only restaurant I remember him appearing at is Chef Mickey's.

004.jpg
This one is for the night I go to MNSSHP, though I have been hoping for a shirt with Maleficent on, but haven't seen one available anywhere.

006.jpg
For Crystal Palace, I also have an Eeyore one somewhere, but can't find it, which is a shame because I like Eeyore better then Pooh, and would rather wear that one.

008.jpg
These two aren't for any particular restaurant, but if you noticed, all of the shirts I have are part of the Studio Collection that Disney Shopping had last year. They had them reduced to $5 late last year, so I bought every one that they had for women, as well as the Mickey and Donald ones that they had for men, though I bought them in a small size. The Tinker Bell one I'll probably wear to MK one day, and I'll probably wear the Alice one to Epcot.

I've sworn to myself so many times that I don't need to call Disney dining anymore, but now I'm debating wether or not to change a time of one of my dinners.

I have a late dinner one night, after park closing, at one of the resorts. I'm not worried about getting there, but I am worried about getting back to my resort. I'm sure I could always take a cab, but I'd rather take the free Disney transportation. I could always try to change my ADR time as well, but I made it late so I'd be able to see the park's evening entertainment that night.

I think I'll have to ask on the main restaurant board about this. . .

I'm having a similar debate with myself over my Cali Grill ressie. This was a late addition to my list after we upgraded to DxDP so there was a 6:30pm and a 9:35pm. We HATE eating early so I took the 9:35pm. Then I started reading about how long meals take there and figured out that I might end up with a 2-3 hour dinner and wouldn't be back at my resort until 12:30am. Plus, we won't be able to take the boat from CR to WL at that hour. We'll literally have to monorail to the MK, then take the boat from MK to WL. What a hassle!

I've literally been calling every day to see if I can get an earlier time and they are booked solid. (Sigh.)

Good luck with your changes!

Looks like everything got moved okay. It's a little confusing to read, since a lot of the posts are out of order, and don't make sense, LOL, but it's still easy enough to follow along.

The basics is I'm taking a solo trip to WDW next month, am staying at a value resort, have the deluxe dining plan, and am very excited about it.

Just tonight I was dreaming of the day I get to take a solo trip and eat my heart's content instead of worrying about kid friendly meals :cloud9:

For now I'll live vicariously through you!

I liked the shirts!!
You made a great deal for $5 each!
I was so happy I got such a good deal.

Good luck with your changes!
Hopefully all of my timing works out. Right now I still have that late ADR, but if I see Fantasmic before that night, I'll try to get an earlier one. If I can't, I'll arrive early, and hope to be seated.

Moving to pre-trip reports and merging threads together :)
Thank you for taking care of that. I didn't want to lose all of my posts, so this was the best solution for me.
