My Fourth Solo Trip - Just Believe and Your Dreams Will Come True

If you are on a package then you had to pay the balance 45 days before your trip. Why didn't you book airfare then? This seems like such a waste to not go now after all your planning. The trip is paid for and you will incur a penalty fee for cancelling that may be more than your airfare, it it really worth it. Just seems odd that you waited so long to book a flight. I booked my air for a May trip last month. Yes, the times may change, but the price was too good to pass up. Wow, very odd indeed???????

Oh dear. I'm so sorry to hear that you're stressed out and considering canceling. I hope it all works out.

Hate to tell you but I really don't think your trip insurance is going to cover your cancellation fee - and I am not even sure you get a refund for paying for trip insurance.

It may cost you more to cancel your trip then it is to go. Isn't your whole trip paid for, except for maybe tips for your meals. What else is there to pay for?

If she has insurance through Disney, it will only cover for "unforseen circumstances", such as illness, death in the family, etc. And you are also correct that the insurance is completely non-refundable. So, the OP will be out either $100 if canceled 6 days or more out, or $200 if canceled 5 days or less prior, PLUS the cost of the insurance. Sounds like a lot of money to lose over missing one meal, if you ask me.

so has OP decided if this trip is on or off yet? Seems very sad to cancel completely because of an airfare. I would have dropped the dlx plan to the standard and still gone..... but that's just me.

maybe she is there now??? things that make you go hmmmm....

OP went and is doing her dining report on the dining page now if you guys are still interested...OP has a fantastic line up to report on and tons of pics coming

Hello everyone, my pre-trip report can be found here;

Pre-Trip Report

I just returned from my fourth solo trip to Disney, where I spent twelve-nights at Pop Century, on the magic your way package with deluxe dining.

I had a great trip, and can't wait to relive it through this report.

If you read my pre-trip report you know that I waited until the last minute to book a flight hoping for a deal. That was a bad idea, and caused me much stress that was completely unnecessary. I ended up flying out of a different airport then I usually fly from.

My flight was scheduled for 8:00 on the dot, and being who I am I decided I had to be at the airport at least three hours early. I didn't want to risk traffic, or missing my flight for any reason, so I woke up at 3:00 AM, hoping to be out of the house by 4:00.

I ended up being ready to go by 3:30, and after giving my cats a lot of pets goodbye, I left the house around 3:50, ahead of schedule. Of course it was 4:00 AM on a Sunday morning, so there was virtually no traffic going into the city, so my mindless worrying about being stuck in traffic was completely uncalled for.

I have flown from this airport before, and have found the customer service to be lacking there in the past, but I guess Sunday is a good day to fly, since I was able to check-in and get through security with no wait.

I arrived at my gate a couple hours early, but I had my iPod with me so I killed time by listening to the most recent podcasts of the DIS Unplugged, which I had saved to listen on during the trip. I was glad I had them, it made the time go a lot faster.

My flight took off on time, and landed in Orlando about a half hour early, so I was very happy about that. Within a half hour after landing I was on a Magical Express bus, and on my way to Pop Century.

I can't wait to read about your trip! I would love to do that same thing! I have started posting my trip report -- At WDW with someone who doesn't "get it" --which explains why I think your way sounds better!

I can't wait for the TR either. I read your pre-TR and got hooked. Now I have to hear about your trip and how it all went. I go down on the 16th for 4 days so I'm in Disney mode.

Kristi

Well I signed up for your food reviews and since like I said in the post that you're are my new SOLO travel hero :cheer2: I wanted to follow this report too! I'm going to use you as my mentor for making that first solo trip I've been dreaming about. Hoping that I'll maybe get a bounce back offer on our December trip coming up and if so I will book that solo trip for myself with that offer. Wish me luck and pixie dust :tinker: ! pixiedust:

I am looking forward to hearing about your trip. You have inspired me to start planning my next trip. Not sure when I'll have off though. I have 6 days at Thanksgiving but too crowded and $$$$ and I have a week at Christmas but again too crowded. My next time off will be in July again crowded and HOT. But my boss is pretty cool and I think I can talk him into giving me a long weekend somewhere early next year.

Glad you were able to go and that things worked out for your airfare.

Disney's Magical Express took just over half an hour to get to Pop, which was the first stop. On the way to the resort we were shown a movie I've seen a couple times before which shows the characters checking into the resort, and talks about the Disney parks and such. Even though I'd see it, and already knew all the information the video was providing I watched it anyway.

A bus passed us on the way that advertised Mickey's Phillarmagic, one of my favorite attractions. I had never seen that bus before, and seeing Donald Duck's butt as part of an ad made me chuckle.

When the movie ended it was only a few minutes later we were driving across the welcome to Walt Disney World sign, and just after that we passed the Wide World of Sports, so I knew we were just minutes away from arriving at Pop.

I was at the check-in desk at 11:30, and got a room right away. Usually I request a room in the 50's, but I hadn't requested anything this time, but I still got a pretty good location in the 70's building, on the second floor, just down the hall from the main staircase. (I consider the staircase by the elevators, in this case just behind the giant Mickey phone, to be the main one.)

I unpacked the few things in my carry-on quickly, and changed my shirt, before heading to Downtown Disney for lunch. I got to Downtown Disney at 12:30, just an hour after arriving in Disney. I was making excellant time! I had lunch at Planet Hollywood since I had a $15 voucher for it. Lunch was good, but I found it to be over-priced basic food. My full review can be found here.

After lunch I walked through Pleasure Island to the Marketplace, where I stopped at Basin to get some bath salts and bath bombs. I walked around some more shops, but didn't buy anything else. I then went to Goofy's Candy Company, where I used my first of twenty-four snack credits on dark chocolate-covered pretzel sticks with pecans and caramel. These turned out very nicely, but I was never hungry, so I ended up only eating one throughout the whole trip. (The other two I took home, and I've eaten one more since getting home, but I have to hurry up and eat the other one since the pretzel is starting to get stale.)

Looks like the T-Rex restaurant is almost done!

I headed back to Pop around 3:00 to try and take a short nap before dinner. When I got back to Pop I picked up my refillable mug, which was included with the deluxe dining plan, before heading back to my room. About fifteen minutes after I got to my room there was a knock on my door, my suitcase had made it! So instead of taking a nap, I decided to unpack.

I finally laid down around 4:00, after setting my alarm for half an hour later, I did not want to sleep through dinner! I never actually fell asleep, but it was nice to be able to lay down and relax for awhile, remember, I had been up at 3:00 AM that day, and I had only gotten a couple hours of sleep that night. I got up at around 4:30 to get dressed for dinner, and was thankful my suitcase had come when it did because I completely changed my mind about what I wanted to wear to dinner.

I got a bus to the Magic Kingdom at 5:05, and made it to the Contemporary by 5:35, where I checked in for dinner at California Grill. Dinner was wonderful, and my full review can be found here.

After dinner, instead of taking the monorail back to the Magic Kingdom, I took it to Epcot, and then got a bus to Pop from there. I got back to Pop at 9:20, where I bought my first souvenier, a very pretty purple princess photo album. Even though I don't really buy souveniers the first day, since I like to look at all my options before I start spending money like crazy, I do get a new photo album every trip, and as soon as I saw this one, I knew it was the one I wanted.

I went to bed around 10:00 that night, since I had an 8:05 breakfast ADR the next morning.

I'm in! Looking forward to more! I hope I make as great time as you did from the airport to ME to resort! Wishes from the balcony looks amazing. That is definitely going on my to-do list for a future trip!! :goodvibes

Thanks for the picture of the new T-Rex, it is supposed to be open by our trip in December, I'm hoping to give it a try then! We are staying at POP in December it will be my first time in a value resort and I'm really looking forward to our trip. Did you take pictures from the outside showing where you room was located? Would love to see those.

Eager for more, keep it coming and thanks for sharing your vacation with us!

December is a great time to go. I don't think I took any pictures at Pop with the exception of a couple of the courtyard. Sorry.

The next morning I woke up very early at 6:10 AM. I was very tired, and running on empty, but so excited to be going to the Magic Kingdom. I got up, and got ready for the day, and got to the Pop bus stop at 7:00. A bus came soon after that, and I was at the Magic Kingdom by 7:25.

I had an 8:05 breakfast ADR, so I was able to get in the park before it opened to the masses, and had a wonderful breakfast in the castle. My full review is located here;

After breakfast I stood at the edge of the castle waiting for rope drop. My first plan was to go to Dumbo, and ride that, since I haven't riden it for a few years. But on a whim I decided not to ride Dumbo and go and ride the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh instead.

Before riding Pooh I grabbed a Fast Pass for it, so I could ride it again later in the day, I was very pleased when instead of just the Pooh Fast Pass popping out, one also came out for Mickey's Phillarmagic, which is my favorite Magic Kingdom attraction.

I walked right on to Pooh then, and enjoyed the ride. As my hunny pot was pulling up to the exit ramp I noticed a Dream Team cast member standing there. I got excited, and my first thought was maybe I was that lucky, and had won the Cinderella Castle suite that night.

No, I wasn't that lucky, but I did get a dream Fast Pass, which had me about ready to skip all over Fantasyland like a crazy person. My first ride of my first day, and I had won a dream. I am so glad I chose to ride Pooh over Dumbo.
