My first trip to WDW and DH's first time being arrested (Dec 2009)

I left off with Rig and I heading back to our room with mugs in hand.

It really was a shame to waste such a beautiful night, I would have loved to have stayed out but I was so tired.

I got my jammies on in the room and crawled up onto the bed to watch TV and it seemed like as I sipped my hot cocoa I became more energized. I told Rig I wasn't as tired as I had been and asked if he wanted to go for a walk around the resort, Rig was up for that. So I slipped on some flip flops and we headed out.

We took picutres of the buildings and of the icons, Mr and Mrs Potato head were a big hit with both of us. Just because of the movie Toy Story.

We headed down by the lake and walked slowly arm in arm. I never get to go for walks in my jammies at home. But it seems like hangin gout in your jammies at the resort is just the natural thing to do. I even saw some teen girls wearing jammie bottoms at the parks. But anyway going for a walk is relaxing enough but wearing your jammies on a walk is an added bonus.

We walked to the bridge and took pictures of the resort that is being built across the lake, it's all put together on the outside, it just looks like it needs paint, I wondered how they were going to decorate it? What icons are going to be put out front of the buildings. Maybe it would be ready by the time Rig and I went back. (talking to somebody about it later I found out that it's been sitting over there like that for a while)

We kept walking and then cut up throught the 50's and came out by the bowling pin pool, that pool was happening, I very seldom saw people in the computer pool where we were.

Rig was taking a picture of me in front of the Lady icon when we Heard Jenny
holler my name. Her and Grant were walking up from Everything Pop.

"What are you guys doing down this way?" Jenny asked

She came over and we hugged, no awkwardness or anything, she is such a gentle soul I'm telling you.

"Rig and I are just out exploring the property."

Rig had come over to stand by me, he shook Grants hand, They weren't to the point of the man hug yet, (they still aren't) Jenny turned to give Rig a hug and just stopped and put her hands to her mouth. "Oh my God, you look horrible."

"Thanks Jenny," Rig gave her a wink

"No honey, I mean your eye looks horrible, oh my gosh, Grant didn't say you looked this horrible, does it hurt? It's got to hurt." Jenny turned and gave me another hug, "Oh you poor thing," she said to me.

Grant rolled his eyes, "a man takes a whoopin and the woman gets the hug."

Jenny apologized for going on and on about it, she was just in shock for a short minute but the conversation about Rigs eye passed quickly and turned into plans.

"Are you guys done at the parks for today?" Grant asked

"Yea, we're calling it a night." Rig answered

Grant could not believe that we weren't going to take advantage of the extra magic hours, "You can only do things so many times in one day." Rig said

Jenny agreed with Rig. "I'm really not up for going back to another park today." They had gone to Magic Kingdom, and were planning on going to Hollywood studios. Grant seemed upset at first then his eyes lit up.

"Rig lets you and I run out and get some beers and cards, we can stay in tonight and still have some fun."

"I would love to play cards," I said, so of course Rig agreed to it then.

The guys left to go get the beer and cards and were going to meet us girls later in Rigs and my room. Jenny and I went up to her room so she could put on her jammies and then we walked back to my room, that's when I remembered that Rig had the key to the room, so Jenny and I went and sat down by the pool.

We talked about our men of course. Our jobs, our families, nothing major in detail, just hitting on things here and there. The guys were back in less than an hour. They saw us down by the pool and came down to join us.

"Are we playing here or in the room?" Grant asked

Jenny wanted to play in the room because the lighting would be better, so up to the room we went. When we walked in Grant could not believe how tidy our room was, "You must keep a clean house."

That is a compliment to me, because I do keep a clean house, a very clean house. I take pride in that.

Grant pulled a 6 pack out of the bag and I was glad to see that Rig had brought me a pop (pepsi) I can not stand the taste of beer.

We all decided on runs and sets only because that was the easiest game for Jenny and I to pick up on, Grant and Rig both tried to explain Hearts and other games but we couldn't grasp it, it could also be that we were busy gabbing and didn't follow along with the instructions.

runs and sets is sort of like phase 10. But Rig and Grant each had a different way of playing so before we could even start they had to figure out the rules we were going to go by and what not. The only thing they could agree on was that 2 decks were needed to play.

I think the game we ended up playing was part what it was supposed to be and part Rig and Grant rules.

I lost huge, I always lose at cards, no biggie, Jenny was in the lead the whole time, she was even with Rig in points but a hand ahead of him. But he caught up and ended up going out first, he laid his last card down, said "I'm out, and that is how a cowboy does it."

It was a fun night of cards, the conversation was always funny so when the games were done we just sat and talked some more. The conversation went to the night of Rigs fight. Out of the clear blue Grant asked Rig, "Did you win the fight?"

"Nope, I got my butt handed to me."

Grant shook his head, "when you called me and told me that you had been arrested and needed picked up from jail I was like no way, this must be a joke, I mean that is last thing you expect to hear when your at Disney world."

"Well I appreciate you comin and fetchin me."

"So what happened? Did somebody insult Lee?" Grant wasn't being sarcastic when he asked that, I think he believed that Rig would fight over something like that.

"It was self defense," I jumped in, "He was hit from behind and kicked while he was down, it was a dirty fight." I for one did not want to be talking about this But Rig without giving too much detail about his family explained that it was a fight with his brother.

Jenny looked horrified, "Your brother did this to you?" then she looked at me, "and you saw all of this happen? Oh my God, talk about a trip you want to forget."

But Rig told her aside from that night this trip was perfect.

We scooted away from the fight topic and back to our plan for the rest of the vacation. It was starting to get late, and Rig and I had breakfast reservations so we finally decided to call it a night. We confirmed our plans to meet up and do Animal Kingdom together with them later in the week and then we said our goodbyes.

"That was fun." I said after they left.

Rig had laid back on the bed, I crawled up next to him and laid my head on his chest. "Can you believe we made such good friends with them after one day?"

Rig took his hat off and tossed it over to the table, "There's good people every where you go."

"Do you really think this vacation is perfect?" I asked

"Yea, I'm having fun, aren't you?"

"I am, lots of it."

"What was your favorite part of today Babylee?"

"Oh gosh, I have lots of favorite parts, but if I had to pick one I guess it would be dinner at 50's Primetime, that was so much fun and the food was good, what was your favorite part?"

"the beer."

"The beer?"

"It was really good beer."

We turned the lights out and talked for a little bit longer until I fell asleep, or maybe Rig fell asleep first, either way it was a fun day and I was excited for the rest of our vacation.

I will post more tonight, I just need to get dinner going.

Hey Lee,
I think that is soo cool that the four of you became such good friends - and still remain in touch.
They sound like such great people. :goodvibes
Rig is right - good people are everywhere. But some days it can feel like they sure are hard to find.

Can't wait for more!
:hippie:

Never heard of tue card game y'all played. Hearts on the other hand is something that I play well.

Good update. I also think it's neat that y'all made friends so early in the trip; it's like a special souvenir!

We woke up revived and ready for the day. We would be going to Epcot and eating breakfast at Akershus. We didn't need to be at the park too early, but we wanted to get fast passes for Soarin and maybe get a chance to ride once before our reservation time, so we left the room early.
It was nice outside, one of the nicest days since we first got there. I was able to wear shorts again. Of course Rig dressed like everyday Rig, jeans shirt and a cowboy hat.

We got to the park a little after rope drop, like seconds after rope drop and mosied our way to Soarin, remember we are not mad dash kind of folk, we're more of a mosey kind of people.

We got in line for soarin, I kept looking at my watch, I really didn't want to be late for our breakfast, this was our first character meal, and the princesses, I was exicted to dine with them and didn't want to miss my chance.

I remember the day I came home from one of my many trips to Emily's with all of our reservations made, I told Rig about eating breakfast with the princesses, he wasn't very excited about it, "What am I supposed to say to a princess? pass the crumbets Miss Sleepin Beauty!?" I think royalty might make Rig a slight bit nervous.

Anyway I gave Rig a time that if we were not soarin by then we would have to leave. But we just made it with minutes to spare. We were able to ride soarin, we had a foot view again but it was still a spectacular ride. And for me each time going on this was easier than the last, I didn't give the height much thought anymore. I no longer had the feeling like I was going to fall, Rig didn't have to baby me on this ride. I could do it all by myself. (pat on the back)

We got off the ride and Rig got us fast passes for later. I wonder if Jenny and Grant hadn't told us about fastpasses if we would have figured it out on our own.

We made our way over to the countries, Rig looked at the map and found Norway, we needed to head to the right. Norway wasn't too far in, we made it with plenty of time left over. We gave our name at the podium and was told they would call us shortly, we stepped back a bit as it was pretty crowded up around there.

There were a couple of little girls dressed like princesses, some of them really done up with the hair and makeup, it was fun to watch them. If I had a crown I would have worn it.

Eventually our name was called and we went up, we had to wait in line outside, the lady said it was to get our picture taken with Belle. there was a family in front of us waiting for their picture first. The little girl was dressed up like Cinderella, Rig tipped his hat to her and said, "Good morning Princess."

She tappped her mom and said, "that man thinks I'm a real princess." Her smile was stretched from ear to ear. The mom must have been having a bad day, or maybe it was the end of her vacation and she was just dog tired, but she gave Rig a quick glance and said, "He probably thinks he's Woody."

:lmao:I had to bury my face in Rigs chest to hold back that laugh, it wasn't so much what she said but the way she said it. And Rig thought it was funny too, he laughed until he cried from his one good eye.:lmao: Oh I should mention that the swelling in his eye had gone down immensley, he could almost open it. And the colors were actually kind of pretty. I even pointed out that the deep burgandy part of the bruise was the exact color I was looking to redo our room colors in, with a little bit of gold and possibley green. He said, "that's great Babylee, you wanna take a close up picture so you can color match our sheets to my eye when you get home?"

It was our turn to get our picture with Belle, Rig always removes his hat indoors, (restaurants and church, not stores or his buddies house) He took his hat off and Belle asked him to put it back on. I think she liked the idea of posing with a cowboy. they snapped a picture and then we were taken in and shown to our seats. We had a cute blonde guy as our waiter. Rig said everybody that worked there looked related. They kind of did.

The interior isn't what I expected, I thought it would look more castle like inside, it was still pretty but not as majestic as I had imagined it to be. And I thought it would be bigger too.

The waiter explained how the restaurant worked, we were to go up and get breakfast from the bar, yogurts, granola, fruit, things like that and our eggs and meat would be brought out to us.

I filled up my plate mostly with fruit, I love fruit and they had the biggest juicest blackberries, Rig just kind of passed by and looked but ended up not getting anything, he did nibble some fruit off my plate but he was planning on loading up on hearty food. He says granola is rabbit food. I like rabbit food I guess.

The princesses started to come around. Sleeping beauty was first, she didn't have much to say, Rig took my picture with her but he didn't want a picture of himself with her, like I said before I think royalty makes him nervous.

Snow white was next, she spent a little more time with us, it wasn't a quick get your picture so I can leave type of thing, I think she liked Rig and even convinced him to get a picture with him.

Cinderella was next and she was the best of all the princesses, she talked to us the most, asked us if we were enjoying our breakfast, And when we told her where we were from she said, "Oh my that must have been a long carriage ride."

Ariel came by for a visit too, she was the prettiest of all the princesses, but Cinderella is still my favorite.

Somebody brought us the picture that we had taken with belle, I didn't know that this was included in our meal, Emily never mentioned that to me. so it was a nice surprise for us when they said it was ours."

"I could totally do this whole princess thing," I told Rig, walk around in a gorgeous gown, talk to people and pose for pictures, I am down right jealous Rig."

When breakfast was over and we settled up the tip we headed back towards Future world. We had planned to ride test track and soarin and then head back to the countries and spend the day touring them.

Test track had a 30 minute wait, we had nowhere else to be so we just got into the line. lines move fast when you have somebody there with you and you can have a pretty decent conversation. Now reading that you probably think that our line moved fast because Rig and I had a decent conversation, but no, it was slow moving and I was bored, Rig had nothing to say, he listened well and that is a great attribute in any man, but sometimes a girl needs a little feedback.

The ride was just as exhilerating this time, it is such an awesome ride. And I think the weather made it more enjoyable this time, not to say that last time wasn't enjoyable, I just remember freezing on it.

When it was over we took the time to look at the cars in the showroom, I saw a few I wouldn't mind owning.

We were going to go to Soarin next and was sure we knew the way without looking at the map. We did end up at Soaring eventually, but we found club cool first, it was fun trying all the different pops, I liked the mezzo mix, a couple of guys were standing around the fountains trying drinks and they all agreed the Beverly was the best. (why would someone name a drink the beverly?) they were carrying on too much about it that got suspicious, I still had to try it though, I just didn't try it infront of them. It was horrid and I want to know who in the world drinks that? Somebody must like it somewhere, probably somebody who has never had a pepsi. (just so you know, my pop of choice is Pepsi) that was just liquid nastiness. if you want to induce vomitting, skip the epicac and go for the beverly.

"Rig, have you tried the Beverly yet?"

"No, is it good?"

"It's my favorite so far." ( my favorite drink to hate)

Rig tried the Beverly and made a face, "Do you really like that lee?"

"I do Rig, I wonder where I can buy some."

"You're sick," he laughed

We left club cool and went for another ride on Soarin, I don't think I will ever grow tired of this ride.

We wanted to tour the countries so we headed back that way. We decided to tour counter clockwise. Canada was first. We went into the shop and felt right at home. We see alot of decor like this around our way, boss mans wife has the den all done up in plaid and moose. We wanted to get them a gift but wasn't sure what exactly to get them. I mean why buy them something here when they can get it close to home, so we skipped any spending that we might have done.

We just kind of passed by United Kingdom, France and Morraco, we stopped into the shops but we didn't spend money, Except in The united Kingdom where Rig got a beer.
I was most excited to see Japan and Germany. I just think those would be 2 great countries to visit. I'm sure they are all great countries but If I were ever given a choice I would want to go to Germany and Japan in that order. But today the order would be the other way around.

I like Japan, they had people, woman mind you, playing these huge drums, We stopped and watched them for awhile. they were amazing. We went into the store, but first we stopped and watched a lady making candy art.

Inside the store wasn't as cool as I thought it would be, I don't know what I was expecting, but this just seemed kind of department store-ish not tourist type of store. We walked through and stopped to watch people pick a pearl. That was fascinating, I wanted to do it then too. Rig went and bought me my ticket with my number, I was watching the tank and trying to pick one out. how are you supposed to pick I asked Rig, it's like playing the lottery. some people got huge pearls with a beautiful color, one lady got 2 pearls, and the CM doing the whole ceremony said "You so luckeeeee."
But then some people would get sorry little puney pearls. when it was my turn I asked the CM to pick for me and she said, "No, is you special luck." but I couldn't decide, so Rig just pointed and said "that's the one."

She opened it and it was a pretty peach colored pearl, it wasn't huge which I liked because I don't like big gawdy jewelry. she cleaned it and showed it to everybody. Alot of people ooohed an aahed, Rig took credit for picking such a pretty pearl, I guess he was allowed to though since he did pick it. We looked at settings, but I didn't like anything I saw, so we left and I still have the pearl in my jewelry box until we decide what to do with it.

We came to america next. We went in, Rig loves American history, I am always asking him questions cause I never much cared for History in school, but now I find myself fascinated with it. sometimes I get a long drawn out answer with lots of information, that happens when he is in a talking mood, or a look at me I'm so smart mood. other times I will ask him a question about why a war started and he'll give me an answer like "Somebody said something about someones mother and it all just escalated from there."

Inside there was a group of carolers dressed in what I would call "charles Dickens Christmas carol clothes." they sounded so beautiful, now that would be a fun job too, especially if you can sing, it proabably wouldn't be such a great time if you sounded awful, everybody would blame you for it and it's no fun being blamed even when it is your fault. We listened to them sing a couple songs before they were all done. People were lining up by a rope then, so we just followed them. when they all started moving we moved with them. We went up some stairs and there were all kinds of flags hanging down, it's hard to go up stairs and look at flags, people can trip doing that, people did trip doing that, I won't tell you if I was one of them:rolleyes1. We went into a huge theater, it was a super nice one, I thought ok Rig will be taking a nap soon.

We got great seats towards the top in the center of the theater. there wasn't anybody infront of me, I had a clear view of the stage, I didn't even have to sit on my feet. I was a little chilly in there, Rig did his best to keep me warm, he wrapped his arms around me and I rested against him.

"Don't be kissing on me and making any enemies today Rig."

Rig gave a little laugh and kissed the top of my head, "Don't tell me what to do woman."

"Oh I am telling you."

A CM came out and talked about a few things, he first introduced a family who was celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, how neat is that?

The lights went down, and the show began, omagosh for a history lesson this was phenominal, I found myself so into it and trying to study each word, I wanted to come out of there smarter, this is huge for me, because when something like that holds my interest, it makes me feel smarter for listening.
The music was so pretty too, I cried, I'm not sure what I cried at, the music, the pride I had in america, both? But it was such an inspiring show I left there loving my country more than I ever did and having a new appreciation for history. One thing that really stood out was the phrase, "I will fight no more forever." If only right?

We went to Germany next. Rig wanted a beer, so he got that and a pretzel for me. he offered me a sip of his beer, I tried it, I didn't think German beer would be any better then any other beer I have taken a sip of, they all stink and they all taste like yuck! My pretzel was good though.

We went into the shops, I saw the haribo gummie bears, when I was in 5th grade our class all got pen pals, my pen pal was a german girl named Dachmar. We lost touch once the whole pen pal thing was done, but I remember she once sent me a bag of haribo gummie bears, they were so good. So I bought a bag. I also bought a bag of the alphabet gummies, I thought I could write Rig a little love note one day using them.

I think we spent the most time in Germany, we sat and watched people there for quite some time before heading into China we walked around the shop but didn't buy anything, We did the same in norway and Mexico, we had to get pictures in the viking hats and of course in a sombrero. Rig wanted a beer in mexico too and I wanted a churro. I hadn't had a good churro since the days I would go to Juarez Mexico.

So we had walked around the world in a just a few short hours, it was early afternoon by then. I hope this doesn't sound wierd but we wanted a nap so we went to the Ellen Degeneres energy ride, not a nap nap, just a relax and rest your eyes nap, and that place was perfect for that.
It was nice too, once we got through the screen part in the beginning and were able to go sit down on the ride. We tried to sit as far in the back as we could. The ride started and we had every intention of resting, we were even talking about it on the way in. All we needed was a power nap. But you get yourself in the dark with the love of your life, there isn't anybody sitting behind you that you might offend or annoy, and plans change........
I like this ride for one reason:rolleyes1

moving on!

After that we went into Mouse Gears and I found a gray Walt Disney world tshirt in my size with the year on it, so I got that.

We couldn't think of anything else to do then, we felt like we had seen it all, some of it we saw a couple times, so it was time to go back to the resort, we would come back later in the evening for Illuminations.

lovin the updates lee!

what did you think of akershus? we have an ADR there for character breakfast in december.

I was just getting ready to call it a night & saw your TR update so I had to read. I don't think it sounds like the mom was in a bad mood, I think her joking your DH thought he as Woody was pretty funny & clever :goodvibes

I have never taken the time to do the pick a pearl but have read about it. I'm going to have to do that some day. Have you ever gotten around to putting your pearl in any jewelry?

Sounds like a good day in EPCOT, worldshow case plus TT & Soarin :thumbsup2

I thought it was great, the breakfast was really good, their service was excellent, I think yoo will love it *Meagan*.

the Moms joke about Rig was hilarious, but she didn't look like she was joking, she really looked worn out, I picture it to be that kind of tired when you just don't care and you don't watch your tongue, I wish I could explain it better. I know she wasn't trying to be mean or hurtful though.

No, I haven't done anything with the pearl, it's in my jewelery box and I haven't given it much thought until today.

Great update! We plan on doing pick a pearl too. I can't wait! I ordered Cinderella's carriage pearl cages to put my pearl in. Not nearly as expensive as the settings there I have heard. The pearl cages were on ebay. I got 2, 1 for me and 1 for DD, and they were less than $10 with shipping for both!!! I got the idea off the Disboard.

'Bout lost my coffee on that one... poor gal, she was probably exhausted! Everyone warns you that Disney is tiring, even moreso with young'uns in tow. It's like running a marathon!

Have you looked on Ebay for the Cinderella carriage pearl setting? I've seen pictures of them and they're really pretty!

Thanks for the report on Akershus! We're headed there in a few weeks. My kids both love the princesses - I can't wait to see their reactions! Same with Soarin' - my favorite ride at EP... someone is going to have to pull me off of it - it's been 7 years since the last time I rode it!

Great updates last night!

I have finally been able to catch up and I am still as entranced as ever. Last week DH would take a moment before we went to bed to read me some of the updates to put a smile on my face and it definitely worked. I can't wait to read more. And i am with you on Soarin'. It is such an amazing ride and seems to pull you right into the moment. I can't wait to ride it again when we go in October. Reading your TR just gets me more and more excited to go! :cool1:

I was waiting for you to say what you thought about the Beverly...that stuff is awful!!! I still remember the first time I tried it. Some of the flavors are ok but Beverly is like poison! Who drinks that stuff, really? :confused3

Glad to read the rest of the trip is going great. I'll have to make a few notes to self. Stay away from Beverly, she's no good. I mean its not good. German beer is just ok (even though I prefer Margaritas personally, and Epcot now has the tequila bar. YIKES! :scared:) and get a seat way in the back (alone with DW) on Ellen's Energy Ride so you can do; well, stuff. :rolleyes1. As nebo would say, does it have anything to do with "bumping uglies?" :confused3 :lmao: Guess I'll find out in October.

But you get yourself in the dark with the love of your life, there isn't anybody sitting behind you that you might offend or annoy, and plans change........
I like this ride for one reason. :rolleyes1
DW are reading this, take note. We have to see what Lee is referring to here.

Oh! Thank you! That was a nice length chapter! I am loving it.
And, I'm glad that you mentioned that Beverly is a weird name for a drink. I always thought so but no one else has said anything. I do have a nice photo of my neice gagging when she tasted it though!

You're getting really brave on some of the rides! I remember you were so afraid earlier in the tr and now you're loving them. Test Track and Soarin are two of my favs, but I do have a bit of a heights phobia, so I don't mind seeing the feet hanging in front of me, it just means I'm not as high up!

Terri

I ordered them for my 3 girls too, can't wait to have them do it. It is one thing we have waited till they were all old enough to do. We meant to last trip but let time get away from us. Glad we waited though, cause now we have the cages!

Thumper Man, you HAVE to try The Beverly, just a sip, yeah, it's gross, but it's an experience you don't want to miss out on.

Wow, what a fun TR! I have such a soft spot for cowboys. ;) They are altogether too few and far between here in Michigan.
