My first trip to WDW and DH's first time being arrested (Dec 2009)

Hi everybody, I am so sorry, I didn't realize it had been so long since my last post, I am going to finish this I promise, If I don't get a post up tonight I will definitely get one up tomorrow. Thanks for not giving up on me.

Sorry for being pushy. You have us all hooked. When you get a chance. We know you have things to do. We all get busy.

It was such a nice day, not too hot, just enough sun and warmth to enjoy laying by the pool. After Rig filled our mugs he met me there.
Rig had pulled his hat down over his head and dozed off so I started reading my book again.
Earlier in this trip report somebody asked me what I thought of the Glass Castle, I thought it was sad, it made me angry at times and the ending was just wow, I couldn't believe it. ( the mother had to be crazy) But reading it at Disney, even after everything that had happened it made me appreciate everything I had. I had found my love and happiness early in my life.

But anyway, I was having a hard time cocentrating on the book, I kept reading the same sentence over and over and finally gave up.

"Rig wake up and talk to me."

Rig put his hat on and sat up, "what do you want to talk about?"

"I don't know, just talk to me."

"You can't put me on the spot like that babylee, give me a subject and I'll talk about it."

"You really stink at this, go back to sleep."

He pulled his hat back down and laid back in the lounge. We were having one of those off days when communication wasn't what I needed it to be, we weren't mad or fighting, we just weren't talking much. It happens now and then.

I had decided to just let him sleep and I would go swimming. The water was nice, like luke warm bath water, kind of like when you settle into a bubble bath with a good book and an hour later you realize that the water had cooled down alot, not cold but barely warm. either way it was perfect for that day.

I get bored easily, it would have been nice if Rig could swim with me, but like I said before he doesn't even own a pair of shorts or swim trunks.

My cell phone had started ringing. Rig sat up and grabbed my phone. "It's Shannon," (a friend of mine from back home)
I told him to let it go to voice mail, but Rig can never resist teasing Shannon, he accepted the call

"what do you want Shannon? you know we are busy at Disney World."

He was silent for a few seconds, "I'll ask her, Lee, shannon wants to know if you are having fun?"

"I'm having a great time."

"Shannon, Rig said, "Lee says she hates Disney world and you are interupting her from trying to drown herself in the pool."

He was quiet while he listened then said, "Ok, I will tell her."

He closed up the phone. "shannon said I am a liar, she told me where to go and you are suppose to call her when you can."

"I'll try to tonight."

Rig pulled the lounge chair closer to the pool. "How's the water?" he asked

"The water is nice but I am bored out of my mind." He still had my phone and was going through it looking at my pictures and reading my texts. He doesn't speak I.M. so I had to do alot of clarifying for him. He doesn't get the whole txt message thing, "why can't people just talk on the phone?"

"Put my phone down Rig."

He ignored me so I splashed him.

"Lee."

"Put my phone down." He ignored me again, so I splashed him even bigger this time.

"Leela _______ (insert my middle name, it starts with an R or you can just make up something else) Behave!"

"Put my phone down and pay attention to me."

He put my phone down on my towel but not right away, he was up to something, I could tell by the crooked grin on his face, I splashed him a few more times but then thought I might mess up my phone doing that, so I quit and threatened him with something else. he tossed my phone over onto my towel and turned his attention back to me.

"Alright Lee, I will give you one prop for every second you can hold a handstand in the water."

"I don't want to get my hair wet."

"Those are easy props, are you sure you want to give that up?"

Props from Rig are hard to come by, usually something insane will get you props, Rig once got 30 props from Charlie for taking a shot of Everclear followed by a hot sauce chaser. He would have gotten another 10 if he could hol dit down but he drank milk to cut the burn and it just wasn't a good mix, :lmao: The whole props thing came around on card night not long after we were married. It just kind of stuck and people keep a running count of their props. I once got 5 props for saying I didn't care about getting props, they (Rigs friends) said it fell under the too cool props category, there's a funny props, logic props, a new category was created for me, the "stop talking and I'll give you 5 props" (most my props come from this category) and then there is the scandalous props, which nobody has gotten yet, they usually turn that down and instead get a couple props for being responsible.

Per the rules, you are not allowed to give yourself props, but I give them to myself all the time. In my book I have accumulated a million props for riding Rocknroller coaster.:cool2: (I am winning):woohoo:

By the way, you all get props for sticking with me:teacher:

We spent a couple of hours by the pool before going back to the room and getting ready for our night at Epcot.

The bus ride was uneventful, Rig and I were able to sit together, I rested my head against him and just basked in the relaxing feel that the evening was bringing. It's not always easy for me to just enjoy the quiet of the moment.

We had planned to have dinner in Epcot, we asked a CM where there was a good counter service place, he had many suggestions but we went with Electric Umbrella because it was the closest, we're not lazy I swear, we were just really hungry, me especially, swimming always leaves me hungry, even if I don't really swim, just being in the water for a while makes me hungry.

Electric Umbrella wasn't fancy, it didn't really have a theme as fas as Disney goes, but the food selection was decent. We both got chicken tenders and fries. I skipped the fries and gave them to Rig since I knew I would be eating half of his dessert, strawberry cheesecake and I are best friends.

We ate our dinner slow and then lingered a little longer sipping on our pop and trying to come up with a plan until Illuminations. We talked about Jenny and Grants hard core tour plan, we could never do that everyday, it was nice just going whereever whenever. We did say that if we ever came back we would get the park hoppers just for a little more flexibilty, even though we were doing fine without them on this trip. We knew would never add water parks, I doubt they let you do that in your street clothes and I would never go alone so it would be a waste, I would like to do Disney Quest, but Rig wouldn't have any fun there, he can't play video games, he is no good at them.

We left Electric Umbrella and decided to do Spaceship Earth, it's a nice relaxing ride for after dinner, and an awesome dark ride, you don't have to worry about people telling you to get a room, we were told that a couple times, and once someone even told us to get get a back seat. :lmao:

I will be honest...we never really saw much inside this ride, but the memories are great:rolleyes1

After that we got out the map and looked for things we hadn't done yet. Journey into the imagination was one we hadn't done, so we headed that way.

there wasn't a line, we just walked right on. This was a cute ride, but probably something I might not do again. I found myself wanting it to be over because I was getting a little bored with it. It's a good snuggle ride, you can settle into your mans arms on this one and enjoy the closeness of it.

They had an interactive play area once you exit, now that was fun for a while, what made it the most fun though was watching little kids play there and seeing their excitement from the music they were creating.

By then our food had settled enough to go ride Mission space, I wanted to try the green side, just so I could know the difference.
If the green side was the first side I had ever gone on I would say it was enough, but once you have ridden the orange side, the green side is like hot fudge suandae minus the fudge. which really is just then vanilla ice cream, I like vanilla ice cream, but toppings make it so much better.
Rig liked the green side better, he thought it was still fun without the spinning. but then again Rig likes vanilla ice cream without any toppings.:confused3

We had discussed doing Ellens energy ride again, on the way over to it Rig said he wondered if they had infrared cameras on the dark rides to make sure people were staying seated and what they must think of us by now.

"I wonder if they make copies and have a collection of all the people who make out on the dark rides."

:scared1: "I never thought of that Rig, I don't want to be somebody's Friday night entertainment."

"I doubt we would be in "THAT" collection, we are probably in the drinking game collection." Rig laughed, "Kissing again, everybody take a shot!"

I was mortified at the thought of being a drinking game, Omagosh those people must be fall down drunk.
So I changed my mind and we didn't go on that ride after all, after that discussion and Rig knowing I was freaked out, he would have played it up even more on the ride, I wasn't about to risk being kicked out of Epcot.

The wait for test track was pretty lengthy, we had nothing but time on our hands but neither one of us felt like waiting in a line. So we skipped it and headed towards world showcase. We didn't go into any shops we just walked stopping at different points to look out at the water.

We stopped in Germany and sat down for a while, Rig got a beer.

We weren't sure where to be for the fireworks, I mean at Magic Kingdom you want to be in front of the castle, I wan't sure where the best spot was for Epcot so I decided to text Jenny. My texts were not reading the way I wrote them, I thought maybe I had ruined my phone when I was splashing water at Rig, maybe water got into the keys.

"What is wrong with my phone?"

Rig smiled, "You can text in French now Babylee."

"What? I don't know French, what did you do to my phone? Why does it even offer that option?"

Rig started laughing. "Serioulsy Rig, you need to change it back."

"I'll try," he said taking it from me, "I'm not sure if I can remember how I did it now."

"You better." I was thinking there is no way I could go the rest of the week only being able to text in French. In the mean time I took Rigs phone and texted Jenny, she said that anywhere along the lake is a good viewing spot, but the closer to the front of World showcase would be best for not being stuck in the crowds as they exit.

Rig fixed my phone, then finished his beer. We continued our slow walk around World Showcase. we still had an hour to wait before illuminations, we decided to watch from right infront of the water fountains in future world. I asked a lady if that would be a good a viewing spot, she said it wasn't the best but it would be ok, we wouldn't be able to see the globe, I didn't care about the globe, I just wanted to see fireworks. This lady was a Disney professional, she had on the shirt, the ears, the "I'm celebtating" button (which Rig and I had yet to wear ours) and she had pins, even her shoes had Disney on them, they were crocs, with Mickey heads. So I took her advice to heart, obviously she knew Disney. It showed in her fashion.

We found a bench kind of off to the side, we figured if the fireworks started and we didn't have a good view we could always try and move, Jenny said that spots were taken quick along the lake, but we didn't have to right up on the lake. Rig went and got me a bottle of water and then we waited. We watched people and made up stories of their lives. Teenagers are the most fun to watch when it comes to making up stories about their lives.

It was funny, on one of the episodes of Big Brother it was Brittany and I'm not sure who else but they were watching Rachael and Brendan from the window and making up a conversation that the two were supposedly having.
We have never done that, but now we want to. Next time, people watching at Disney is going to be taken to a "Whole nutha Level"

Rig called Charlie and I called Shannon, we both kept the subject to Disney, neither one of us mentioned what happened with Rig's brother. Something like that you need to tell in person and then stick around for damage control, small town gossip has a way of spreading into wild fire if you're not there to stomp the embers and even then you still have some trouble with brush fires.
Not that shannon or Charlie are gossipers, but still, why bother saying anything now.

Now moving on, Illuminations, We probably should have watched from world Showcase, the Disney professional was correct, we did have a decent viewing spot, it just wasn't the best. We could hear the music and see the fireworks up in the air, but I think we lost something being so far back.
I love fireworks anyway, I wasn't let down or disapointed, but according to Grant we could have had a better experience. The fireworks at the christmas party in Magic Kingdom brought me to tears, Illuminations made me happy, and I had fun, but that was it. But again don't think I am saying they were bad or less, it could just be where we were that took away from the spectacularness of it. (you can add ness to almost any word, you know, and it still makes sense)

We didn't want to have to wait long for a bus so we started heading out to it as soon as it hit the finale.
We still had a wait, but we did get on the 3rd bus. Rig offered his seat to a lady who was standing and she declined. Some people did that every now and then. They were just happy to stand.

We got back to the resort and followed our regular routine. I got on my jammies and we both went to fill our mugs. By then the mugs had paid for themselves. We walked the long way back. we left Everything Pop and walked straight past the flower pool and followed the lake. I don't care where you are or what lake it is but walking along a lkae holding hands is always romantic, the perfect way to end a day.

We watched a little TV in the room, before shutting out the lights.

"Babylee, what was your favorite part of the day?"

"The whole day was my favorite, what about you?"

"Ellens make out ride."

I just found your TR. Here it is a beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon on a holiday weekend and I can't tear myself away from the computer. Thanks so much for sharing your very engrossing story. It really is like reading a book.

So glad you are back enjoying your trip report/story and is helping my wait time to go to WDW easier. :yay:

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Props for your trip report (I wasn't sure I could put as many as you deserve)

Nice update. DH and I (and out kids) are park commandos, so we would probably be better with Jenny & Grant than you and Rig. Different strokes for different folks is part of why Disney is so great. During our Christmas trip we were give a free fireworks cruise from a CM on the Boardwalk. Now that is how you watch Illuminations.

Love it!! Changing my phone settings is something my DH would do to me...just to get me to stop texting all the time! :rotfl2:

I wanted to give props too!
So.... Props for the great report and for bringing some reading happiness to the Dis.
Also, props for having a good sense of humor. And props for looking at the happy side of life (and ignoring things that are not so happy).

Great update.. Its funny my DH and I will sit and make up stories about random peoples lives too. We do the conversation thing too.. We were actually at a convenient store doing it the other night and realized we sat there in the car for like 10 minutes.. then felt stupid that the only reason we sat there for so long was because we were making 2 young boys (who looked like Ken dolls:rolleyes:) talk about their plans for the night..

Thanks for the great update.. every time I read your TR I get more and more excited for our trip to WDW in 3 weeks!!:goodvibes

RigLee,

I must admit I have been reading this trip report from the beginning (skipping all of the naysayer comments) and I am truly enamored with your story! I don't normally post my thoughts or opinions on trip reports, but this one is too wonderful to not.

You have a writing ability like I haven't seen in quite some time and the way you tell your story is truly captivating!

I am so very glad you did not stop writing due to all of the negative comments because I feel like we all would have truly missed out!

I wish you and Rig many, many wonderful years and I hope to read another trip report in the future!

Hi Camille.:

Hi Ty. Sorry I didn't see this right away.

I've noticed that Ms. Lee doesn't get on here as much as I would like so I don't get on here other than to read her stuff. To many people being not so nice so I usually don't read the comments. Love ya girl!

Hi Ms. Lee. I hope you keep writing, I love your style and I think you are truly a gifted writer.

Ok just started reading this trip report today. First drawn in by the title, then reading Lee's edit about question of fact or fiction.
I was reading the first few chapters thinking why is no one claiming fiction here.
Your relationship is so sweet, I began to not care what was real.
I now just want to keep reading! Fact or fiction I am a fan!
Back to page 33!

Wow! I just found your trip report and am joinng in! I love to read and your first 8 pages have definitely lured me in! :surfweb: I started a book yesterday morning and finished it already this afternoon! You are an amazing writer...You seriously should do this for a living. :worship: I love to hear how others get so emotional when they are at WDW because I do too.:wizard:
Can't wait to read more but tomorrow is the first day of school and I still need to get things sorted for the kids. :teacher:
