We just got back from 13 days at WDW last night. This trip has been my longest stay thus far and I definately could have stayed a few more days
!!! We had such a great time that I want to attempt my first trip report. I will figure out how to add pictures later on if I can.....
This trip was just going to be DD and myself and it would be our first stay at AKV. DD loves animals so I decided that this would be the perfect place for her for the first 6 nights of our trip. DD just turned 21 and was away at college so this trip was partly a birthday celebration but mainly quality catch up time since DD was away all year. I used to do this with DS every May but he graduated college last year and is now working. As much as I begged him to try and come, he could not which made me sad as he is the real disney nut in the family and I just love going with him. (More on that story later!!)
I decided that since DD loves animals, our focus for this half of the trip would be Animal Kingdom and that I would book 3 tours: The Wanayama (or how ever it is spelled) safari tour which includes dinner at Jiko's, the Wild Africa Trek and the Backstage safari tour. We were very excited to do all three
We took the first flight out of NY and were at Jambo by 10 am and of course our savannah studio was not ready so we decide to eat at Mara's and head off to AK for a few hours. AK was not too crowded, the weather was perfect and we had a great few hours at AK. Anyway, at 2 pm we were tired so we headed back to Jambo and our room was ready and off we went. DD and I were in awe of our beautiful savannah view. Lots of animals to see so we were in our glory with our view!!
Since it was just the 2 of us this trip (DH was home working and this was going to be DS first time not going to WDW in May in 5 years
) the studio was perfect for us.
We were pretty tired so we went to the pool for awhile and then at 7:30 headed to Bomas for dinner. After dinner we did some viewing of the savannah with night goggles and spent lots of time looking at the giraffes, explored the lodge and then decided to call it a early night. It was a great first day.
Day 2 was going to be a lazy day by the pool and then our The Wanayama safari tour and then dinner at Jiko's. But since I really have to do some unpacking this will be continued......
