My FIRST EVER August 2012 PTR :) (Updated 08/13)

I think a trip to Hot Topic is in my future. :) Stitch is one of my favorite characters! Maybe even my number one favorite, but sometimes I have a hard time choosing.

That's too bad! You will definitely have to go this year!
I haven't been to Club Cool in years. I'm actually not even sure where it is.
So, I have a question. I'm going with my friend to WDW, and since I want to go to Club Cool, I think it would be fun to try and get the classic Beverly reaction photo, since I doubt she knows about it. But how do you do that without being totally obvious about it? Like, here, drink this cup of soda while I conspicuously hold this camera up? I'm probably overthinking this haha.

Stitch is DEFINITELY one of my favourites as well!!

hahahaha you might just be over thinking it! maybe video tape it instead? that way you can walk into the store with the video camera on and there is nothing really strange about it! you can always take a screen capture of the video to make a picture of it? also, some point and shoot cameras are pretty slow so you wouldn't want to miss the shot!

Thought of you when I saw these...so cute! I was thinking about getting them for our trip, Idk if I could wait until we go to get them :goodvibes

25% off parks merchandise this weekend on Disney Store website...

OH MY GOODNESS. those are absolutely adorable!!!! Do they sell them at the parks? If my boyfriend was coming with us we would definitely have to get ourselves these hahaha and I might get them anyways just for fun!

Awww I live in Canada so shipping is kind of dreadful otherwise I would be doing a full Disney store haul with a sale like that!

Park Plans: Magic Kingdom

IMG_5060-2.jpg

Alright, so it's been a little while since I had a real update.. (it's been a somewhat busy summer for me.. but i love it!) So today I finally have some time off to talk about our park plans, specifically for Magic Kingdom in this particular update!

I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before but Jesse is completely terrified of most rides so we have to be really careful about the rides we decide on because there always needs to be another ride or something close by that he doesn't mind to do on his own while he waits for my mom and I. It gets to be a pain sometimes because we know that he would have a blast on the rides if he just gave them a chance! Anyways, we've all made a list of "must-do" rides for each of us so that we can plan ahead what we will and won't do together.

My list of rides that I absolutely can't miss are:
Space Mountain
Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin
Splash Mountain
The Haunted Mansion
Mickey's Philarmagic
Peter Pans flight
Magic Carpets of Aladdin

of course I want to do just about EVERY ride there is but I needed to make a small list just in case something happens and I can't get to all of the major rides I love that way I won't be too disappointed (does that even make any sense? haha). That, and I've NEVER ridden Peter pan *GASP!* :sad2:.

My moms list is just about that same as mine but her mentality is - hit as many rides as you can

My BROTHERS list on the other hand is considerably smaller:

Pirates of the Caribbean
Small World
Mad Tea Party
Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin

so of course it looks like Buzz is going to be one of our first stops since it's on all three lists (technically)!

so those are the rides we will be focusing on, among others hopefully, we also have to watch the MSEP and we've got preferred viewing for Wishes on our first night there!

I've heard about silhouettes that you can have done in MK and I'd love to do those, does anyone have a clue where you can get those done?

We also desperately need to see every inch of adventureland because we have somehow missed it on ALL of our previous trips!! how that happens I have no idea..:rolleyes1 . Finally, a trip to the main street bakery is a definite must, YUM!

We'll be having dinner at Chef Mickey's on our MK day because they are so close!

Does anyone else have any suggestions of must do's at the MK? What are your must do's? :goodvibes

Love your report!
We bought that tea cup last trip too, along with the tea pot.
What is the Universal dining plan? I didn't realize they had one.
Looking forward to hearing more!

The online store says that they are sold in the parks, so hopefully they will still be there when you go!

Thank you so much! I'm so glad to have some readers :)!
We were going to get the tea cup and tea pot on our last trip too but decided against it... I have no idea why but I definitely regret it because they are adorable!

As for the universal dining plan - It's called the Universal Meal Deal and it is about 19.95 per person per day if you are only doing 1 park since we are only going for one day to one park it's about 20 bucks a person and you have the choice of 3 "quick service" type food establishments (for example, if you're going to IOA the 3 restaurants would be circus mcgurkus cafe, comic strip cafe and the burger digs) and you can eat as much food as you want all day from lunch until 30 minutes prior to park closing! Unfortunately this does not include drinks - but you can buy a refillable souvenir cup for 8.99!

Ps. I'm from Ontario near toronto too! :goodvibes

MORE SHOPPING!

I've got another park planning update on the way for you wonderful readers, but until then I thought I'd show you some MORE stuff I bought for the trip!

First: An Atomizer! you can store your favourite perfume in there and travel with it, for some reason this makes me VERY excited haha $15 at sephora!

I also bought a package of paper soap! (this isn't an actual image of mine but mine looks similar to this!)

and of course I'll be bringing a few of my beloved pocketback's with me from bath and body works, this is my favourite of their scents right now!

If anyone is interested I'll eventually be doing a post on the beauty products I'll be taking with me to the parks! (But that's for another day :))

Haha I really am probably overthinking the Beverly thing. But the video camera is a good idea. :)

I'm pretty certain I saw the silhouette cutters in Liberty Square when I was there last December.

You've never ridden Peter Pan or gone to Adventureland? You definitely need to remedy that on this trip! :goodvibes Peter Pan is my favorite dark ride, even though it's kind of ridiculously short.

Also, those PocketBacs are the best! I love that scent you posted.

Hahaha unfortunately everyone in my group knows about the beverly already so I don't get to be sneaky about it :sad2: , but i'm definitely going to video tape it!

Thats awesome :) thank you, I definitely want to have the silhouette done.

I KNOW, I'm an abomination to all things Disney! I have no idea how I managed to miss an entire land since I've been to the Magic Kingdom so many times! The reason we've never done Peter Pan is because it's always been an insane wait whenever we've gone so we just skip it, this time I am determined! :goodvibes

Hi Alyssa!!!! You are doing such a great job on your first ever ptr!!! I watched your video, too. So cute! I'm here to plan along with you and look forward to more of your report! :goodvibes

Subscribing! your PTR is off to an awesome start, and your trip is really really soon!,

another update is coming soon, I promise!

TICKET UPDATE!

We finally purchased our universal orlando tickets today (now to wait 10-13 business days for them to arrive in the mail:laughing: ). The total came to $402 for only 1 day  !! If anyone is curious here is the breakdown of what we purchased:

1 day 1 park ticket (IOA) for 3 people = $264
1 park 1 day meal deal for 3 people = $63
3 souvenir cups = $27
and then we had to pay 20 dollars for international shipping and 30 for shipping and processing!

crazy expensive if you ask me but it will still be a total blast!! We can't wait to get back to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (huge HP fans over here!) and we can't wait to explore the rest of IOA because last time we went we were not informed that the park would be closing early due to a celebrity renting out the park so we didn't get to see much more then WWOHP and suess land:sad1:

ANYWAYS, since I'm already here I might as well add a second update, so without further ado,

PARK PLANS: UNIVERSAL ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE

IMG_5417-2.jpg

Man, I am ridiculously excited for this day trip (and luckily, so is jesse for once)! We're planning to visit US on august 23rd which is a thursday and the park is planned to be open from 9am-9pm, hopefully, with any luck it will stay that way! We are hoping to be up super early this morning and at the park at least 15-20 minutes before opening so that we can rush our butts over to WWOHP and get on the forbidden journey ride right away! We absolutely LOVE this ride so we may have to hop on it twice ;)! We'll also try to get in to see the show at Olivanders because we missed it last time due to an insanely huge lineup! annnnd of course dragon challenge has to be done! after we finish up with the rides and shows at WWOHP we'll probably head over to the jurassic park ride because thats another ride I definitely do not want to miss this time!

Besides all of that we will probably just play the rest of the day by ear because we are not all too sure what else to expect! anyone have any suggestions of rides we definitely have to try? or any other things we have to do or see while at IOA? tips, tricks? I'll take anything! :rotfl:

We also want to get pictures with the Marvel characters (also big avengers fans :lmao:) and ride the newly redone amazing adventures of spiderman!

We've also heard of the new cinematic spectacular show.. is that able to be seen from IOA? or only universal studios florida? haha i feel so unprepared for universal in comparison to the Disney parks!

all I know is that I can't wait to have another one of these babies, YUM!

MOUSEKEEPING TIP ENVELOPES

I know, I know, I already had an update today but I came across the idea of tip envelopes for housekeeping here on the Dis a few days ago and i just had to make some.. and then once they were made, well, I had to share them of course :goodvibes !

I stole a few of the templates from the internet and from the Dis but I made 2 of my own and my brother made one of all of his favourite characters (see if you can spot which one his is :rotfl:)

photo-1.jpg

photo-1-1.jpg

I would have made mine so much better but I won't be getting photoshop until my birthday in July and I just couldn't wait (maybe i'll make more?) So I just put these the ones I made together really quick on microsoft word with the help of some awesome disney clip art websites!

I think they're adorable, does anyone else do this? ...now that I've made these I need to find something else to do to prepare for the trip and get me excited! Ideas anyone? :)

Hey!! Just started following your PTR! I love you plans so far and i'm equally excited for you for WWOHP!! I went in 2010 with my DBF who has never even seen HP, and didn't get to see most of it, so I'd really like to go back! This is coming from someone who has whole matching hogwarts outfits!! (gryffindor and hufflepuff!! actual sweaters worn in the movies and everything!) :rolleyes1

We didn't ride forbidden journey cuz it was an hour and a half wait on our first pass by, then the rest of the day it was down! and I knew Matt wouldn't want to see the little show at Olivander's.. Oh well.. another time I'll drag him back!! ;)

I also LOVE the mousekeeping envelpopes! Do you have a link to where you got the templates or where you got the clipart??? I might just make some in powerpoint or word or something cuz I don't have photo shop or anything!

I have a PTR going too if you wanna follow mine as well!!

Can't wait to hear more of your plans!

ps. heading on over to check out your PTR now! :)

Oh man, I love WWoHP! I went in 2011, and I'm such a Harry Potter nerd, so it was like a dream come true! The Forbidden Journey ride is so amazing. And I was chosen in the wand show at Ollivanders, which pretty much made my life.

Anyway though, you definitely should check out the Spiderman ride. That's probably my second favorite ride at the park, and I'm not even a big fan of super heroes. The Hulk is pretty great coaster too. Are you going to the Universal Studios park at all or just IoA?

How did you get to meet Tom Felton? That's awesome!
