My fellow contact wearers, what do you do?

I also wear 2 week Acuvue contacts. I get dry eyes a lot and last time I was there I would sometimes have to take my contacts out at night and wear glasses. This time I go I will probably either bring a spare pair and eye drops or my glasses with me to the park.

I also would love lasik eventually but it's kind of scary.

I wear night and day contacts that only come out once a week overnight. I take a backup set and some solution in my park bag just in case because I truly cannot function without them.

I know this is off topic but how are your eyes with those? That seems really convenient to me but my eye doc won't do it...she cites infection..lack of oxygen to the eyes etc....

I wear disposable soft contacts that need switched every 4 weeks. I usually put in a new pair right before we leave then take at least 2 pairs with me. I have rewetting drops that I constantly carry with me in case of dirt, wind, dryness etc. I also have my glasses that I use when we are done at the parks.
Also as a side note, if you are riding Test track watch your contacts. The speeds made mine blow around a bit.
Have a great trip

I wore daily disposables, which is what I'm getting for my DD this coming summer (she's already -3.0). I was about a -7.0 or so (taking astigmatism into account) and wore glasses since I was about 9. I always brought about one week more contacts than I would need, so if we were going out later at night, I'd switch to a new pair.

I got Lasik two weeks ago today here in Maryland. At night, last couple of nights, I keep thinking I need to go take out my contacts, but I'm not wearing them! Definitely, it is NOT the quick one day and you're perfect; rather your eyes do need healing time. It was a great decision, and I am so happy!!!

For contact lens wearers, I'd just bring a spare pair with you. I always kept a pair in my purse.

Thanks for all the replies. I am going to try and get daily contacts before I leave. I would like to have lasik surgery, but I am a little scared right now, maybe later. I am getting so excited, I can't stand it

Hi Susan. I had Lasik back in 2002 and it was the best decision I ever made. I had worn glasses for almost 20 years and I did not want the hassle of contacts or glasses anymore. I can tell you without a dobut that if I can have it done, anyone can. I am the biggest coward in the world lol. If I am not mistaken most procedures no longer involve the use of a blade. If you ever want to know anything about it, feel free to ask.

thanks, I am considering it now.

My DH's friend did Lasik and he loves it. I am too nervous to try it out though!

I will be wearing my contacts most days so I can wear regular sunglasses, otherwise I have to bring my glasses with the transition lenses which take forever to clear up when you go into a building, or wear the big wrap-around granny glasses over them!!

I will be bringing my contact case and small bottle of solution with me into the parks plus my glasses, just in case! If something happens to my contacts I wouldn't be able to see well enough to drive back to the hotel. I will be bringing an extra pair of contacts to leave at the hotel too. Call me paranoid, but better safe than sorry :)

Ok, I thought I would give you all a follow up. I just went to my eye doctor today and this what I got......(I have to wear contacts to see far away) We discussed Lasik and he said since I was only a -1 it would not be beneficial because it would cause me to have to wear reading glasses :confused3 I asked about daily disposables, and he said they were expensive but would give me a sample and he also gave me another month supply of the monthly contacts (wasn't that nice :hippie:) SO, I got 6 boxes of daily contacts (3 months) I also got a new pair of glasses, and I still have 5 months of the monthly contacts:thumbsup2 Since I do not wear contacts everyday, I feel what I have will last a year. The great thing about the daily contacts is that eventhough they are expensive, you can just chunk them at the end of the day, or if you rip one, just throw it out and you only lose a day and not a whole month. I will probably buy only daily contacts in the future because of the convenience. I want to thank everyone for their suggestions. I can't wait to be at Disney World chunking some contacts :dance3:

I was having the same dilemma last year. I opted to use my insurance money to get prescription sunglasses. BEST DECISION I EVER MADE. I got the lenses to be a medium tint, so when I went indoors I hardly noticed a difference and had no trouble seeing anything. And the tint was perfect for outdoor protection too.

We always went back to the hotel mid-day and at that time I would grab my lenses, put them in my bag and would change into them about 7:30 p.m.

I still use my sunglasses everyday and love them!

I'm a fairly new contact wearer (only started a couple of months ago), so I ALWAYS carry my glasses with me when I wear contacts. I only bought contacts for my trip because 3D sucks with my glasses :headache:

I wear my glasses all the time, except on really nice days.

I found a website that has contacts at a great price, and they even refill your prescription for you too!

www.coastalcontacts.com

And for Canadians

www.clearlycontacts.com

I usually just keep a small bottle of "rewetting" drops in my bag. Even if I get a speck of dust in my eye, that usually washes it out.

Or you could bring a travel-size bottle of solution and a case - that way, you could take the contact all the way out, wash it, and put it back in.

I find that because I wear sunglasses when outside, I don't have a problem getting things in my eyes.
