My fellow addicts, How do you get your Disney fix at home?

I teach Literature so I incorporate Disney video clips into a lot of lessons. There is a lot of free YouTube material out there that helps teach literary concepts. Feminism in Frozen. Characterization in Frozen. Disney and Gender Roles. Irony in Disney Pixar Movies. Most of my students seem to enjoy it. My classroom is also full of Disney decor.

When we were studying Macbeth, I created a project that gave students a lot of options for creating something original based on the text. Two of my students (twin boys who are fellow Disney lovers) worked together to create an idea for a Disney roller coaster based on the play. It was based on the track design of Expedition Everest. They had Banquo's ghost pop out like the Yeti.

Right before I take attendance I sometimes run a quick dining search for that elusive reservation. It's like a game to me.

I look up Disney restaurant recipes online and try to duplicate them at home. Some of my faves are the Ratatouille from BOG (who knew stewed veggies could be so good?), the Caramel Apple Pie from Whispering Canyon, and of course, the ever-popular Dole Whip Float. I can't duplicate it exactly, but I can come pretty close.

40 or so Disney Playlists....Resort lobby music, park background music, attraction and movie music, etc. Helping Co-workers plan their trips but only if they ask. I also make luggage tags for their kids if it is a special trip and they are excited about it.

Where do you get all of the playlists?

I put "grim grinning ghosts" as my phone ring tone. Everyone at work thinks I'm nuts. I just know better. That song always makes me smile. Next month it's the TIGGER song. :)

Lol! I have the Steamboat Willie theme as my ringer right now.

On a side note - I purchased a Star Wars skirt and a dress with Mickey on it that I wanted hemmed for our upcoming trip. So I found a seamstress and as she was measuring she asked me when I went to Disney and I told her I'm actually getting ready to go. I told her that we are big Disney fans. Moments later my phone rings. She looked up at me, "Steamboat Willie, huh?" Uh ya.....

Pinterest - I love to craft & enjoy reading / perusing various Pinterest planning topics too.

I stream Disney music from several sources.

I like to follow several diff dis ppl on Instagram & peruse their photos.

I have been know to give planning advice and i also enjoy creating planning binders. I used to create actual physical binders now I use excel & create a virtual one.

Our last trip was last May, and our next trip isn't until November 30th, 217 days away! I find myself constantly trying to get my Disney fix until we can get to our happy place again. Here are some of the things that I do to pass the time between visits. Share with me what you do at home to get your Disney fix!

Spend lots of time on the DisBoards

Watch The DIS unplugged daily updates and weekly podcasts

Listen to Disney parks music and Disney movie music at home and in the car.

Watch Disney movies

Watch the free DVD Disney sends for trip planning

Watch Disney World related videos on YouTube (yes, I even enjoy watching other people's Disney vacations and happy moments at Disney!

Wear Disney clothing, and jewelry

Constantly think about how I can come up with the cash to purchase more DVC Points!

Reminisce about past vacations.

So what do you do? I know I'm not the only one! Share with me how you get your Disney fix.

I surround myself with Disney at home. Some of it it obvious, and some is more subtle. I love it all!image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Constantly planning details for the next trip. I don't hate the planning required for WDW trips. I think it's quite easy and interesting, actually- an easygoing challenge. I enjoy pondering where we will stay and what we will do on the trip, even if said trip is a year away. The anticipation is part of the fun.

I love the planning too. We were just there in March and will be back in November. I started planning for November before the March trip took place.
I am on the dis boards constantly throughout the day. That's how I get my Disney fix! My son loves when I say "I have a question about Disney..." He has to put up with it for the next 6 months until we are there again!!
Disney and its planning are addicting but at least it's a good addiction!!

I always go into Yankee Candle and smell the beachy scents hoping to find one that smells like Beach Club lobby. I haven't found a good match yet!

Try etsy! I have one from Walter & Rosie specifically that I love and think it smells right on, but there are a BUNCH of options and they're usually cheaper or around the same price as YK! Walter and Rosie have a TON of Disney specific scents (citrus swirl and beach club are my favorites)

I've been lurking for a year and finally decided to sign up! My DH and I do lots of the things already mentioned. We also have a Mickey-themed kitchen and we have Disney themed dinners occasionally. Most recently we cooked chicken and waffles and watched Princess and the Frog. 126 days until we're back at WDW and we have a Disneyland trip planned for March and a Disney cruise booked for next Labor Day, so I love to plan plan plan! Glad to meet my fellow addicts!

I always change my ringtones too! Right now it's Wall-e themed. When I get a text it's Wall-e going "Whoa!" and the ringtone is music from the film. Next month I'm switching to an Epcot theme where I will have the monorail chime and announcement for my texts and Journey Into Imagination for my ringtone! I'll change it every month as sort of a "count down". I also forgot to mention my desk at work... it's COVERED in Disney. I train new reps and the managers always tell the new reps to find the Disney desk, the entire campus knows where I sit :rotfl: I have everything from pictures, to plush, to pins, to vinylmations, ... basically a mini museum!

It's so nice to know I'm not alone in my crazy. LOL!
The DisBoards definitely keep me company when things are slow at work. We also like to look through photos of past trips, watch movies and listen to Disney music on Spotify. My current text notification tone is "Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me!" :-)

My husband loves the wilderness resort especially sitting in the lobby in a rocking chair with a glass of wine and listening to the western music. As a surprise one year I asked the front desk if they had a list of the music. They did and I went home and found most of it on iTunes. I put all the music I could find on a cd and made two copies. He listens to it in his car or in the bedroom on our old fashioned stereo. Nothing makes him happier. He also tapes, saves and rewatches over and over any programs on Disney, DCL etc.
