My fellow addicts, How do you get your Disney fix at home?

I agree! I need to think of other ways to incorporate it into my curriculum or at least my decorations around the classroom. One decoration I have that I love is a metal sign I bought on my last trip. It has Mickey on it in front of the monorail and says "Stand Clear of the Door". I have it posted right beside my classroom door and use it to teach and remind my students that they need to stay in their seats and not group up at the door for dismissal. That is such a hard habit to break of eighth graders!

Try breaking high school seniors of that particular habit. :crowded:

You had an awesome idea. I need that sign!

How did that work out? Part of me dreams of moving to be near The World, but part of me fears it a little. WDW is my happy place- my escape. I am a bit afraid that if I were to move to Orlando some of the magic would be lost.

I wonder this same thing. I envision myself someday spending a lot more time in Florida but I don't want to lose the magic!

I live closer than I used to, but I have discussed moving to Florida with my husband and my daughters. I fear the same thing. If I move really close, like actually IN or near Orlando, I think maybe Disney would become part of my routine, and on top of that one of my favorite things is being in a Disney resort. That would be gone.

I get my Disney fix by listening to d-cot jukebox on a regular basis. It just makes my day happier. :)

Our last trip was last May, and our next trip isn't until November 30th, 217 days away! I find myself constantly trying to get my Disney fix until we can get to our happy place again. Here are some of the things that I do to pass the time between visits. Share with me what you do at home to get your Disney fix!

Spend lots of time on the DisBoards

Watch The DIS unplugged daily updates and weekly podcasts

Listen to Disney parks music and Disney movie music at home and in the car.

Watch Disney movies

Watch the free DVD Disney sends for trip planning

Watch Disney World related videos on YouTube (yes, I even enjoy watching other people's Disney vacations and happy moments at Disney!

Wear Disney clothing, and jewelry

Constantly think about how I can come up with the cash to purchase more DVC Points!

Reminisce about past vacations.

So what do you do? I know I'm not the only one! Share with me how you get your Disney fix.
Here. Lines and TP Forum. Podcasts. And playing incessantly with the reservations page. I have an illness...

moving here really depends on what your after and what you may give up depends on your situation and cost of living vs what it is before you go. my cost of living is half what it was in nyc and that is counting costs of annual passes for disney and universal. I still have my vacation budget to go elsewhere. I still work for the same company at the same pay.. My daughter loves it here. For us the ability to run into disney almost anytime we want for any reason works better for us. We love trying everything even if it's 1 night or 1 weekend, this fits us perfectly and there is a lot of things going on right now and lots of changes starting to happen. Things we like, we can do a lot and we don't need to get our fix over a couple days.. The ability to just go in spuratically fits our lifestyle so much better.. We know every trick to fastpass and adr.. for us, this is a million times better. I know I just said the same thing 10 different ways but we're not sitting home finding a reason to go to somewhere on disney property. We're loving central florida and tons of things we skip or couldn't easily do before.

When I listened to the podcasts, I heard the discussions of stay-cationing a lot. I get staying up to date on rooms, quality, and things for the podcast, but then everyone is still vacationing to disney and many have dvc.. being here, I can see things I would staycation for so staying on property is not lost. Because of my personal situation, I'm saving a whole lot of money. We're going to do some occasions as a stay cation. I'm still deciding if I want to stay on property during the mega meet. I'm not going to see those prices for contemporary or GF again..

I have "when you wish upon a star" as my ring tone. LOL
Lion King is mine this month...
I just bought sparkly Tinkerbell seat covers for my aqua Honda fit (with pink and silver racing stripes - oh yes!), and have Tinkerbell window decals!
I am the go to person for all things Disney at work!
And of course I haunt the Dis, as well as fb...

My husband loves the wilderness resort especially sitting in the lobby in a rocking chair with a glass of wine and listening to the western music. As a surprise one year I asked the front desk if they had a list of the music. They did and I went home and found most of it on iTunes. I put all the music I could find on a cd and made two copies. He listens to it in his car or in the bedroom on our old fashioned stereo. Nothing makes him happier. He also tapes, saves and rewatches over and over any programs on Disney, DCL etc.
You are a "Good" wife! Lucky man!

I go to google earth and try to look at the streetviews and imagine I'm walking in the parks.
Wow I thought I was the only person who did this!!. I take it as far as recreating my entire road trip from Atlanta, imagining the drive down, the excitement of crossing the state line into Florida, entering the FL turnpike and stopping at Opa Lumpka rest stop for Dunkin Donuts coffee.

I suggest listening to the background music and watching ride videos. I remember that when I was a kid, I used to live pretty far away from Disney, and I'd always dream of going there just one more time. So I watched ride videos, and researched, and boy it made me feel happy. Also, if you have a local Disney Store, go there as often as possible. Mine is decorated almost just like a shop at the parks, it even has smellitizers! Oh, that and, I think Disney gives out free touring plan DVDs and every once and awhile, some Disney Parks and Disney Cruise Line programs come on TV.

Me too! I thought I was just weird!

I tutor kids. Overseeing every lesson is my Duffy bear. His outfits change each month, and it's always fun to see which kids notice first! :)

Always have the next trip in mind....so right now I have three trips that I'm planning for...the one upcoming in October...the one for my oldest daughter's senior year trip and than my oldest son's senior year trip....Obviously the most current one gets 90% of the attention LOL! But that way when we are there we think of what we would like to do the next time and when we come home I start a Disney notebook to jot down general plans/hopes/etc...as it gets closer we plan more in detail. It helps that I live in a house with fellow Disney addicts!

-I've been re-watching a lot of the movies (I dvr them off Disney Channel & FreeForm), we also re-watch Harry Potter ones to get excited for Universal. We've also seen the new movies like Zootopia and Jungle Book in theaters.
-I have downtime at work where I can read and I've been reading some stories on Disney (trying to buy only 1 a month till our next trip), but their called Vault of Walt by Jim Korkis and are lesser/unknown stories about Walt. I think there's 4 plus he's written other books on Disney. I just got #2. I also got an illustrated guide on the history of all the Haunted Mansion attractions as that's my favorite and it was pretty cool. (Sadly it was a little too big to take to work). I've also been re-reading the Harry Potter books for Universal.
-I post on Disboards.
-Plan my future trips, and update my PTR on here. Josh and I will also talk about things we'd like to do on certain trips so when it comes time to plan I know what I can surprise him with. (Most our trips are actually happening because we're getting APs this year, but I keep wanting to go even more!)
-Shop for Disney merchandise for my next park visit, I find a lot of Disney clothes and ears on Etsy and Hot Topic.
-Make packing checklists, figuring out reservations for future trips
-I'm starting a blog that I've been working on about my trips to Disney/Universal.
-I post a lot of Disney/Universal on instagram and follow people who post about the parks.
-I read parks news on here, facebook, and reddit.
-I have countdowns to my trips on an app and if I'm having a blah day, looking at that or going on the Disney site and seeing my next two trips come up brightens my day.
-We've also started taking walks to break in shoes/get ready for Disney.
-There's a Disney store nearby that I go in if we're in the mall. They don't have a lot of merchandise for adults, but hearing the music always makes me feel like we're back in the park. There's an outlet mall with a Disney store about 2 hours away that has a little more clothing for adults but we don't go there too often.
-Listening to the music or making playlists
-I've watched an occasional vlog, but this gave me some great ideas of vlogs to watch and I've also never listened to a podcast but may start. I also have to catch up on Once Upon a Time since I missed most of this season.
