My fellow addicts, How do you get your Disney fix at home?

I started sending my fiance a Disney pic a day from one of our trips over the last five years. I have a Disney countdown block on my mantel that I update daily. I also read the Dis daily. We check out and update our itinerary, look at Disney menus and pics and listen to Disney music and watch movies. I also had a Disney night with my friends, we watched movies did Disney trivia and made these adorable Mickey cookies out of oreos!
I think my favorite thing though is the Dis pic of the day I started, I'm going to do it every day until our honeymoon in August! View attachment 164852
Those look so good and so bad!

Try etsy! I have one from Walter & Rosie specifically that I love and think it smells right on, but there are a BUNCH of options and they're usually cheaper or around the same price as YK! Walter and Rosie have a TON of Disney specific scents (citrus swirl and beach club are my favorites)

I will definitely check it out! Thank you!!

How do I feed my addiction?

- I have lots of Disney DVDs and blu-rays. Including a lot of the animated Walt Disney Treasures.
- I listen to a lot of Disney music, both soundtrack stuff and park music (Disney's Happiest Celebration On Earth is great and playing right now)
- I used to wear a lot of Mickey shirts, but I've outgrown most of them :sad1: Hoping to reverse a little of that though
- I like to look at old pics, and back in 08, I put together a photo DVD from our last trip. I put personal & photopass pics to music
- I just started watching youtube videos recently, that began with trip planning
- Since October, I have been planning a trip to DLR in July. It's a big family event, and every week, I post info about the parks, as well as pictures from trips throughout the year
- www.facebook.com/JermsHouseOfMouse is my Mickey collection. I post a piece of it every Monday. When I shared a pic of a shirt I wore to WDW in 2008 back in August, it inspired my sister and I to plan our trip in 10 weeks

I teach Literature so I incorporate Disney video clips into a lot of lessons. There is a lot of free YouTube material out there that helps teach literary concepts. Feminism in Frozen. Characterization in Frozen. Disney and Gender Roles. Irony in Disney Pixar Movies. Most of my students seem to enjoy it. My classroom is also full of Disney decor.

When we were studying Macbeth, I created a project that gave students a lot of options for creating something original based on the text. Two of my students (twin boys who are fellow Disney lovers) worked together to create an idea for a Disney roller coaster based on the play. It was based on the track design of Expedition Everest. They had Banquo's ghost pop out like the Yeti.

Right before I take attendance I sometimes run a quick dining search for that elusive reservation. It's like a game to me.

I look up Disney restaurant recipes online and try to duplicate them at home. Some of my faves are the Ratatouille from BOG (who knew stewed veggies could be so good?), the Caramel Apple Pie from Whispering Canyon, and of course, the ever-popular Dole Whip Float. I can't duplicate it exactly, but I can come pretty close.

Another teacher here that loves Disney. I teach Social Studies and incorporate Disney into lessons when I can. I only have a couple of lessons that include Disney but am inspired by AtlantaDisneyDreamer to add more! Thanks for sharing!

One lesson I do focuses on Steamboat Willie and how it was the first animated film with sound. I tie it to the Industrial Age and inventions.
Another lesson I teach is one about propaganda and American's Homefront efforts during WW II. I share information about how the Disney studios made short movies for propaganda purposes as well as military training videos during WW II.

Like most here, I am on the DIS constantly and watch video, etc even though my last trip was in 2014 and I really do not have a trip planned.

I am constantly making plans for trips that I are just fantasy trips for me. Some are basic trips where I see how cheap I can go and still stay on property and do things and make other plans for dream trips at resorts that I would love to try!

40 or so Disney Playlists....Resort lobby music, park background music, attraction and movie music, etc. Helping Co-workers plan their trips but only if they ask. I also make luggage tags for their kids if it is a special trip and they are excited about it.

Someone else already asked but it was not answered and I am curious too -- where do you get your playlists?

  • I plan trips that I'll never go on just to see how inexpensive or expensive I can get it.
  • Watch a lot of youtube - OhYeahDisney and See Ya Reel Soon are my faves
  • Listen to Stacey and the WDW info channel music on loop at work
  • Watch a lot of Disney movies
  • Listen to podcasts
  • Read trip reports and DIS
  • Buy a lot of Disney shirts (favorites are from Happily Ever Tees) to prepare for the next trip ;)
Yup, I'm definitely obsessed. :)

When ever my wife and I start to get the "Disney Blues" we start off by looking though our scrapbooks of previous trips. I have kept the Park Maps of all our trips from all the way back to 1987 so we also spend time comparing the maps and pointing out all of the changes over the years. When we need a bigger, more real fix, we take off in the car and go to the nearest Disney store. It is like walking into the Emporium, with not as much stuff. I also like to play the Disney planner cd's you can get through the mail. Coming onto this site and reading about the experiences of others also helps but nothing beats getting on that plane and flying south for another week.

-Podcasts
-the Dis boards
-Always planning our next trip
-We also collect vintage Disneyana (old movie and attraction posters, vintage Disney comics, magazines etc)

Watch Disney vlogs, browse the boards, listen to Disney parks music, watch moves and videos with my daughter....who is named after a princess :rolleyes1 lol

Music! It is the reminder for so many good times in our lives.... we especially enjoy movie soundtrack albums and can clearly remember the first time we saw Follow Me Boys or the 10th anniversary of Les Miz or any of the Lord of the Rings movies. Dances with Wolves... the music reminds me of when I met the book and script author after sending him a poem about Wind in His Hair.

It is all about the MUSIC!!

Lou Mongello Live on Facebook every Wednesday night, a little light easyWDW reading (love Josh's humour!), Sorcerers Radio, our Disney pics and videos on the big tv, YouTube music/vlogs, and lots and lots of of Disney planning!

Since we don't have a trip planned for this year - Boo, Hiss- I've busted out our old refillable mugs. Also keep talking to DH about "if you could stay at one resort..." " eat at one restaurant...", "go on one ride...." Luckily he plays right along because he's got the sickness too!:P

I'm always planning my next trip! For me, that's a huge part of the fun. Disney music helps too.

There's an ice cream shop near me that serves dole whip. They do all sorts of flavors but have pineapple at least once a month. That helps when I need a Disney snack fix :]

Just burst out laughing on the rush hour train! But I'm laughing with you. Whenever one of us is cranky we pull out our Glade orange scented room spray and pretend we're on Soarin!

Yes! The Scents take me right back! I found this amazing lotion at BBW called Bourbon Strawberry Vanilla that smells exactly like Goofy's Candy Shop on Main Street. It also reminds me of Goofy's Candy parade float that smells delicious as it rolls by.
