My experience at Whispering Canyon

What a great story! We're going there for the first time during our trip in September. The ADR person we spoke with made sure we knew that they do things a bit differently there! I can imagine some people are in for quite the surprise - not to mention, fooled by the name of the restaurant thinking that it's quite the opposite!

They mentioned this restaurant recently on Disney's Great Escapes. The people at the table seemed preturbed and annoyed. Good grief - lighten up! (Though, they were probably just acting)

8 of us are going in Oct (3 adults and 5 kids) We have an ADR on our last night of a 6 night stay.

I sure hope we aren't too tired and cranky to enjoy it.

I loved DD's birthday celerbration last year at the WCC- our server, Krispy Korn had all boys under the age of 10 come to our table and sing happy birthday to DD. It was priceless. There was one little guy, maybe 4, tried giving DD a kiss afterwards. rotfl

We love WCC, but I have a huge concern about asking a parent to sing. (Me) I've got a disorder that affected my trachea and my larynx. Because of this I cannot sing, or use a loud voice for extended period of time. Even breathing while talking can be trying. I think if this was asked of me I'd burst into tears in the restaurant because there is nothing more I'd love to do than be able to sing. But my reality is I can't and it's not something I like having pointed out, especially to a bunch of strangers. Reading the OP makes me want to skip it this next trip, just to be on the safe side.

I think the same could be said in regard to children, with or without medical issues. Hopefully they just have a feel for how people might react or know when to back off?

I am so glad you had fun at WCC, this is our fav restaurant. We are going there in 2 weeks and are taking my ILs who have never been before. We are keeping all the crazy antics quiet because my ILs are the type of people that just love to embarrasse their loved ones...especially the daughter-in-laws....so I told my DH that I wanted to take them there to kind of get them back for the 8 years of fun that they put on me in the past :rotfl: I cannot wait.
