I don't know whether to laugh or be furious! For those who don't know the saga with my 15 yo DS, he's a real handful, to put it mildly. He's always been in some kind of trouble -- getting kicked out of school, and just being on the verge of delinquency.

This school year has actually been okay! He only got in trouble once and he hasn't been causing too much trouble at home -- is home early or right at curfew and hasn't had a rage in a long time. (the rages were awful, probably brought on by bipolar, but not shrink has ever been totally sure)

Anyway, with that background out of the way... :teeth: Today, he's been calling me from school. He's done this a few times before, begging me to come let him sign out for one reason or another. He's bored. He's sick. He has a headache. Today, there's an assembly. He has called me FIVE TIMES. "Will you please come get me? There's an assembly and it's going to give me a headache."

And just as I was posting this, he called me AGAIN (#6) because he got in trouble and they're making him sit in front of the office while the assembly is going on. He wants me to come get him.

Why does he even bother to try when the answer is always no???? :sad2: :lmao:

LOL! Well, he didn't have to go to the assembly.

that's what I was thinking too!!

I am sorry that he has lost his marbles....maybe he will find them.

He's had such a good run lately....Keep it up!!:goodvibes

I'm such a mean mom.

I just called the school and told them what his game is. I said that if someone calls to sign him out, he is NOT to go, because I'm not approving it.

:rotfl2:

That's funny because DD15 has been texting me today begging me to come pick her up because they are watching a movie & she's miserable. I would have loved to just sit there & watch a movie when I was in school. I guess this generation of kids doesn't see watching movies & attending assemblies as the treat we did when we were younger.

OMG, and to make it worse, I'm chomping at the bit trying to force myself not to go to the assembly myself. It's MY alma mater (see my tag icon), doing a DRUM CONCERT! I'm so bummed that I can't be there for it! I used to be in the university band and they have a killer drumline.

MushyMushy, I see that you have a ds15 & dd11. I have a dd15 & ds11. I say we vow right here & now to never let these children near each other. We'd end up with grandchildren calling us from kindergarten because nap time was too boring! :rotfl2:

6 times?

Where is he getting the phone? They let him bother the office staff like that? :confused3

When I was in elementary school, I mysteriously didn't feel well and had to go to the nurse's office at gym time. Coincidentally, I had forgotten my sneakers, and my grade would be lowered if I didn't have them. I made a miraculous recovery when gym was over. :lmao:

I am not looking forward to when my kids discover that one.

Now that just cracked me up!

Which is your more difficult child? My oldest is a million times more difficult than the youngest!

Cell phone. The school has a fairly lax policy -- they can use them at lunch, plus they have a couple of pay phones outside the cafeteria, and vo-tech kids can use them in the middle of the day when they're walking to the vo-tech building. He started calling me from lunch, and then continued when the vo-tech kids stayed behind in the cafeteria for the assembly. The last time he called, he was right in front of the office.

oh well then that is easy

"honey, you are not sick and you are staying at school. Call me again over this and you will be losing the cell phone. Now get your heiny to class." :thumbsup2

OOOOOOOH!!! I wanna go!!!

My daughter is having an assembly today and she asked last night if I loved going to them (I graduated from the same school) as much as she does. I said nope I don't remember other than two....Seniors were allowed to "ditch" assemblies. So glad she has school spirit but we have a banquet tonight to go to tonight for band awards.

Hey Mushy....can you sign me out of the banquet???? :rotfl2:

My oldest son was also my difficult child. You may remember my awful saga of his junior-senior year. He used to go the the school nurse every day with some complaint or another. I finally told the nurse not to call me again unless he threw up in her pocket. That put a stop to that.

Well, until he had a seizure in class and they had to call 911:rolleyes1

Just a thought, for what it's worth.

My friends son (15) who has been diagnosed with a mood disorder and possibly bi-polar can not sit in an assembly. He feels too confined and trapped. He gets anxious and very nervous in situations like this and feels as though he has no control.
The school has allowed him to make other arrangements if there is an assembly. He will usually sit in a class with another teacher who is available.
