calling him by a nickname.

No more Dougie, Doug-Bug, Buggy, Duggety, Bugger. “Just Doug, Mom. Please.” He said he’s wanted to say something for a while, but was afraid of hurting my feelings. What a great kid. :love1:

I know it's not a big deal to the rest of the world, but it tugs at my heart. I’ll get over it. I guess it means he’s growing up.

Thanks for letting me share.

Aw...he sounds like a sweetie. They grow up fast right?

Doug is my brother's name. We called him Dougie too. Now his friends all call him Doogle. ;)

Oh Kelley, sorry about that. I have good news though, it gets fun again like that in high school. I have three boys and middle school is all about being cool. In high school, they like Mom again and you can have fun with him again! :)

I remember my son who I called Paulie getting to this point. Then I went to his track meet. Everybody on his team calls him Paulie. They were all yelling his name as he raced. I had to laugh about it.

Awwww. I know how you feel. My mom was recently told by my little brother that she was not to call him "Baby" any more.

I love Doug Bug as a nick name. Tell it to his fiance somewhere down the road!

Emily's nickname is Goo or Gooberry. She is only 5, but won't anyone by Mom and Dad call her that. I wonder how long "Goo" will last.
