My Disney "shock"!

There was a thread here not too long ago about what you might have seen at Disney that shocked you. Well, I'll tell you what I saw:

A girl that could hardly have been 12 years old...a bit on the hefty side, wearing those short, short athletic shorts under her belly (yes belly hanging out) and the words "100% *****" printed on her butt. My husband and I were in shock! What is more shocking is that she was there with what looked like her parents and grandparents!

I felt like walking over and slapping all of them! What is wrong with people these days?

I know what you mean.....people just don't seem to have a clue these days!!! My mother wouldn't have let me walk inside our house like that!!

hmm from those stars i can put together a couple of things... that is a shocking thing to see... sometimes you want to ask what people are thinking

In October I saw a latin woman that must have been in her late 50's or early 60's that was probably 5'-4" when she stood up and all of 200 LBS wearing a black one piece bathing suit, too much eye make-up and black sandles riding a ecv in the Magic Kingdom. I could hardly not stare in disbelief.

What is it with people that think the rest of the world wants to see that much of them!

My older girls are 12 and 9. Your post makes me want to get down on my knees and thank God that they are modest! They would never be caught dead with any of those "butt words" shorts! They don't want people looking at their butts and neither do their parents!!! What is the world coming to!!! Lacee

For those of you wondering what this "little" girl was proud to be 100% of......the 4-letter word starts with a "B"!!

I am confused... was it a 4 letter word, or a 5 letter word?

I also am very fortunate to have an extremely modest 9 year old. She won't even wear a 2 piece bathing suit, which is proving difficult, since she is between sizes on the one pieces.

thanks for clearing or at least hinting at the word. I was driving myself crazy trying to figure out that one. My caffeine has obviously worn off.

Duh... so confuzzled

What did the shorts say? This is like "Wheel of Fortune"

LOL

>>^..^<<

Hehe...sorry! I tried to type the "real" word into my original post but when it came up all of the letters were *** instead of the actual word. I guess that is the moderators' way of keeping the posts clean.

The shorts said "100% 'female dog'" (only it was the B-word for "female dog") I hope that clears it up :)

Now I am only 36 years old and not considered a prude or anything, but Dh and I were both shocked at how much cleaveage women were showing while at WDW! Holy cow~ more than either one of us wanted to see!! I couldn't believe the skimpy, low cut tops that women were wearing! I know it was hot out, but jeeze, some modesty please?!?!?

Now on the subject of the %^#$#% shorts, that's just plain wrong. I have 5 kids, two of them daughters. My 15 year old daughter wouldn't be caught dead in anything like that. I don't even like those shorts with "cutesy" sayings on them like princess or something like that. It's an invitation to look at your butt, IMHO. Not appropriate for little ones or teens!! I 100% agree!!!!!!!!! Tracy : )

Dear TIDoublegger, pray tell, at what age IS it appropriate? For me (a bit past teen years) NEVER!!! I agree whole heartedly, it is an invitation for unwarranted attention. I have 4 DD's, and thankfully modesty is the way of life here.

I am so glad my daughters are too modest to wear such things. My youngest won't even wear a one piece without shorts. What are these parents thinking.

Wow! Of course, I've seen SO many strange things in 28 visits. I guess it just goes to show that just 'cause someone can by a pass to the most magical place on earth... no amount of money at all can buy... class! Scary but true.

Minnie's Mate, I am sorry that fat people offend you but sometimes we have to wear bathing suits too!

She was wearing it in the Magic Kingdom - not at a pool!!!

Just wondering....

If she had weighed 110 lbs and was 20 yrs old, would it have made any difference?

I think a bathing suit is out of place in the MK unless you're wearing shorts over it, but it's hardly something I'd call shocking.

I'd find a 110 lb. 20 yo just as shocking as a 200 lb. 60 yo. Bathing suits are just that, suits for bathing. Not for public. There's a reason hotels ask guests wear coverups in places other than the pool. :D Should it be any different for the MK? How about WalMart? Is that suitable?

I saw a girl at Epcot last year wearing a skimpy bikini top and short shorts. She had the shape for it, but I thought it was inappropriate at a park.

We saw a 50+ woman on the monorail wearing a white lace top with no bra. It had a solid inset across the bustline underneath the lace, but she "hung too low" and her breasts were showing through the lace, below the inset. The top was designed for someone more "perky" ;) Perhaps it looked ok when she put it on but as she wore it the inset part moved up (or she sagged more! ).

luckily my 11yr old dd says those shorts and pants with wording on them are uncool around here at her school and with her friends. (there is a God! :) )
But even if they were in style here I wouldn't let her wear them. I think they draw attention to a place that already has attention drawn to it by boys and some men.
It amazes me how quickly some people want there children to grow up. Geez they are only children once let them stay that way for as long as they can, the real world is tough enough. Let them enjoy there childhood!
