I'm pretty sure security was there in less than 2 minutes -- several of us stepped in between them to keep the matter from getting worse. I believe I heard security saying that the sheriff's department had already been called and both woman were going to be arrested -- the driver had radioed everything into Disney security.

I saw a fight between 2 woman break out in TT. Badly designed queue when you get out of the design room and everyone merges into one big room then funnels into almost single file on ramp. One party was accusing other of line cutting in front of them. They started attacking each other with children around. Security escorted both families out.
Ridiculous mentality. Everyone in the group will get on the ride within 5 min of each other. So they were fighting to get on ride 2 min faster Keeping it classy!

Typically, bar and grill type places/ "family" restaurants do it. I haven't been to a nice fancy dining establishment in awhile, but last time I did, this wasn't a problem.

In the last month I've been to:

Red Lobster
O'Charley's
Old Spaghetti Factory
Cracker Barrell
Cardinal Hall of Fame Cafe (I know they have these in multiple cities but based on different teams)
El Nopal

Not really "nice, fancy dining".

Every time I've ever been to Red Lobster, O'Charley's and Cracker Barrel the noise level was out of this world (and I have a documented hearing loss too so it should technically be quieter since I stopped wearing my hearing aid years ago when background noise got to be so annoying to me) and there was music playing in O'Charley's and Red Lobster (not sure about Cracker Barrel -- country music loudly playing outside...not sure about inside.
My point was that there is usually some sort of background something everywhere here in the States. It seems it is hard to find anywhere where it is just quiet -- other than outside -- and therefore, it is my opinion that people are conditioned to talk loudly here. So you end up with entire restaurants full of people shouting across tables. My husband and i noticed this once when we went to eat at Bravo! Cucina Italiana, which, I believe, is a chain restaurant. Would have been fairly nice dining establishment and the food was decent but even without music it was like being in a school cafeteria. These were not kids misbehaving. These were all adults. Just very loud talking. You couldn't be quiet if you wanted to because you had to be heard by the waiter.

ETA: This could be totally dependent on dining times too. Obviously, if the restaurant is not crowded, it will not be loud (unless it is like said restaurants above...for instance, Cheesecake Factory likes to blare music as soon as they open when the whole place is completely empty!) I do agree with other poster who said restaurants do this to get people to move through quickly.

Lived in Germany for 6 years (3 in Frankfurt/3 in a village near Kaiserslautern.) Agree everyone is quieter in Germany (as a society..but it is a cultural thing). But restaurants (NOT bars!) being quieter or people talking quieter over there -- part of the reason people are loud in American restaurants is that one has to yell in American restaurants to be heard above the music being played. The difference is not necessarily the children. It is the fact that you aren't listening to Pour Some Sugar on Me at 110 decibals while trying to eat or order food ....or have a conversation with your dinner companion.

My parents moved from Garden Grove CA (near Disneyland) to Kitzingen Germany; then to Stavanger Norway, and back to Kitzingen.

The only place where people were loud and boisterous (in a happy, non-obnoxious manner) was in a restaurant in a small city near Bamburg - when the entire restaurant simultaneously started to sing In München steht ein Hofbräuhaus, eins, zwei, g'suffa! and Im Himmel gibt's kein Bier.

I could only laugh at the thought of eating at Cracker Barrel and having everyone erupt in a rousing stanza of "Yankee Doodle".

I dont find people any more or less rude then they were 25 years ago.....I find my patience and my world view is alot narrower then it was back then. I find me being alot more judgmental of other peoples parenting of young kids, which i remind myself was being done to me 25 years ago....so to me, I think kids today are great!!!....parents are raising more tolerant kids, kids are alot more advanced then they where 25 years ago....so no, I think things are actually better then they have ever been!

Isn't the whole point of the beer song to get people to enjoy their beer? Naturally the "enjoyment" will raise the decibel level a bit.

Yes!! I think you've hit on an important point, and I've been saying the same thing lately when certain conversations come up with my schoolteacher friends. It's gotten harder and harder to maintain a quiet work environment in classrooms lately. I hear (and experience) time and again that kids just.won't.stop.talking. I'm sure there are multiple causes, but my "pet" one lately has been your theory about background noise. Kids growing up today are simply not comfortable in silence - because they so rarely (if ever) experience it!! Sometimes I don't even think they're conscious of it - they just "don't feel right" when it's quiet, so they start talking in order to normalize their environment.

Well, drinking definitely unites. I won't say it is utopia over there. But, that is a fundamental difference though about what you said. "The entire restaurant" started singing. It was a community-singing thing. Nobody got up and complained to the restaurant owner about the singing, I presume? Everyone wanted to sing as a community. Different culture. I don't expect Germany to be America and I don't expect America to be Germany.

I would like it if restaurants were a bit quieter here though. That would be nice.

Actually, the whole point (of the beer song) seemed to be the pure joy of celebrating life. The beer was just an ancillary aspect of the meal, not the point of it. The clientele maintained typical public decency, as one would expect there.

Not family places, nice places. And most often, adults in a group are the culprits. They have four or more people and a few drinks and just get louder and louder, as if they are the only patrons. A screaming baby now and again is what it is. Startling, but not annoying as adults can be.

The worst we've seen was at a nice restaurant in Napa Valley. Two drunk women were so loud that no one in the restaurant could carry on a conversation. The manager of the restaurant did nothing. Eventually the women took it outside where the whole restaurant could see them dunking each other in a fountain.

I"ve only been to one restaurant recently that had music loud enough to bother me. A nice French place in Portland was playing heavy metal. Won't go back there. Sorry for the thread hijack!

I find it just isn't at Disney that bad behavior can be found but everywhere. People seem more distracted and madder for some reason. I had a lady yell at me today in the grocery store parking lot. Funny thing is I was going the way the arrow pointed and she was going the wrong way. But I guess she was mad I was in her way. Last weekend some vile people harassed us and I still can't imagine why they would have done the things they did. I try to not go anywhere by myself if I can help it cause there are too many nutters out there

I thought Indiana was the only state where people can't figure out which way to drive in an angle parking lot. I always drive down the middle to give walkers space to walk on either side. If someone comes towards me in the wrong direction I just stop in front of them and make them back up. It's one of the perks to owning a truck.

I do try and have patience while at wdw. The one thing I won't tolerate is line cutting. This really wasn't a problem last time but a few trips it seemed bad. I will call them out and I don't have any issue doing so.

Wow, interesting. The big lots here are probably 75% angled. There are some with straight, but more with angled. Probably a regional variation. I'm always fascinated by these sorts of things.

Angled parking lots are one of my worst nightmares!! lol

One time we went to a Walmart store in our town that we usually never go to that has angled parking. The one we usually go to has straight parking spaces and I assumed the parking lot was like the other Walmart's and just turned down a random row to find a parking spot. Well, turns out it was a one-direction row and I was going the wrong way. I realize that it's a one direction and see this minivan approaching further down the lane, so I pull over as much as I can and stop so they can pass me easily because of my mistake. Well this minivan sees me going the wrong way, speeds up, swerves dramatically, then gives me the dirtiest of dirty looks. She looked at me like I just ran over her dog. I know I was in the wrong, but geez! All I did was turn down the wrong way in the parking lot.
