Part 1
I'm leaving for Kuwait in February and knew that I wouldn't get another chance to go to Disney between now and then. Especially since we had a three day weekend, we decided to book some rooms for the weekend and go!

So we got to the Shades of Green on Friday, January 14th, found our room (they have Huge rooms), and I got ready. Then we drove over to Epcot and went to Mexico. We only had about a 5-10 min wait and we were seated. I wish I’d gotten a picture. We had a Perfect seat. It was all the way in the corner so we had a wall on one side and the ride on the other. We both hate getting seats that are right in the middle of the rooms. Anyways, he got nachos that were So yummy and I got the steak and shrimp (we shared). :worship: I swear it was one of the yummiest things I have ever eaten. The steak was SO perfectly soft. You barely needed a knife to cut it. DROOL. It was expensive, but worth every penny.

After that we went back to the hotel and watched some tv, and went to bed!

The night before I’d forced Johnny to tell me where he would like to go and he chose the Animal Kingdom. So Saturday we woke up, got dressed, and went to the buffet breakfast in the hotel. Yummy. After that we headed to the Animal Kingdom. It’s such a great park! We just walked around and talked and looked at stuff. First we went to the It’s Tough to be a Bug show  , only about a 5 min wait. I Love that show. I think it’s the first time John was actually sitting back in his seat cause when the wasp stung him he Really jumped :rotfl: . It always feels like it gets me in the kidney so I sit forward when it’s coming! We then went to Dinoland and rode Dinosaur. I’d forgotten that he’d never been on it before! It’s very short, but other than that it’s Really fun. From there we took this back trail that we’d never been on (goes past Tarazan Rocks…which we still haven’t seen) and it took us past where they are building Expedition Everest. It looks like it is going to be Awesome!

Part III
We went over to the train that takes you to Conservation Station (we’d never been) and walked around in there. John got to taste some animal food. The only one I’d let him taste one the one made out of corn. They guy told us what they were all made out of, but I don’t think he was paying attention because after the corn one we picked up the one made out of meat and fish :crazy2: (the guy had said it was like cat food). I told John and he said, “Really??” and put it back down. Silly. :earboy2: (Maybe I should have let him eat it? :rotfl: )He said the corn one really wasn’t bad. I guess I should have tasted it! While we were in there I got my picture taken with Pocahontas!

When we left there we walked around more. We even saw the Tree Lady!

Part IV
So then we went back to the hotel. We had planned on the Magic Kingdom for the afternoon so we figured we could park at our hotel and walk over to the Polynesian. We’d never been There before either…it was very cute. As we were walking in we passed a :bride: getting in to her limo…on her way to the Wedding Pavilion! So we get on the monorail and as we pass the pavilion my nose is to the glass as always. When we stopped in front of the Grand Floridian (my favorite…looking…hotel) I said that was the closest I had ever been to it. Johnny looked at me and asked if I’d like to hop off the monorail and walk around for a little while. I certainly did :Pinkbounc . It is Amazing. So gorgeous!! I really, really, Really want to stay there now! After we looked around inside for a bit we decided to walk along the beach and check out the pavilion. We stood there and chatted and then I took some pics. As I put my camera back in my purse John stands in front of me and starts talking. I, of course, can’t remember most of what he said, but he started with, “Through magic and misery (har har), through something and something. …we’ve had a short journey so far, but there is a long one in front of us… …” I wish I could remember more. Then he said, “Alexis Noelle, will you marry me?” and he pulled out the ring! :lovestruc:  It is just stunning! I cried  , but it was windy so it whipped my tears from me! He actually asked me twice. I was so surprised he asked me there. I mean, I was hoping he would ask me Somewhere at Disney, I just had no clue where. Of course, I said YES!! :faint:

Part VI
After that we took a self portrait and walked back to the hotel to catch the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. As we were walking up the stairs he took my hand and showed the ring to me under the light (it was cold and overcast our whole stay)…it sparkles like crazy :earseek: !! So we went to the MK and just mostly walked around there. I can’t even remember what we did. I know we got fries and I called my mom. I don’t think we even rode one ride!! Crazy. It was really cold and we were planning on going out that night so after a couple hours we went back to the hotel. We rode all the way around to the Grand Floridian so that we could walk from there. My romantic boy!!

I later found out that about EVERYONE already knew. The ring DID come in sometime last week and he took it to work and showed everyone! I was surprised to hear that, but very happy!

When we got back to Shades of Green we got all gussied up and headed out. Oh, but before we left I gave him his engagement watch. It was a total surprise and he really, really liked it!! I think if he were a girl he would have cried! We wanted to get lotto tickets (we actually matched 3 numbers this time…) so we had to drive off property. We were going to eat at Uno’s but John decided he’d rather go the The House of Blues. Fine by me! Except…we get there and they are closed due to a private party. Nice. So we went to Planet Hollywood. I don’t know why we keep going there…I think I’m usually disappointed by the food. He got these chicken appetizer things and I got the fajitas. Well, I LOVE peppers and HATE onions. So I asked for the onions on the side (John likes them). They bring me this bowl with about 5 million onions and about 10 Tiny pieces of peppers. I’m not kidding. There were barely enough peppers for one fajita. I asked if I could have JUST peppers but it’s all in one vat. Grrrrr. So I wasn’t too pleased with them. Oh well. Mexico more than made up for EVERY restaurant that has ever sucked.

After dinner we headed into Pleasure Island. First stop- The Adventurers Club. Neither of us had been to PI in YEARS and we’d never been together, but the clubs we went to neither of us had ever been to. The AC was So great. We barely made it into the library for the show that was on at that time…we were the last two let in and didn’t even get to sit next to each other. Well, we kind of did. He was in a normal chair across the “aisle” from me and I was on a stool against the wall. That’s okay though…I was only about 2 feet from him! We both really enjoyed the show!

After that we headed into the Rock and Roll Beach Club. They had an 80s hair band (looking) cover band in there. They were really good! They played stuff like Pink Floyd and Rush. John LOVED them. I thought they were great but was never really into that music so I only knew a couple songs. After their set ended we stayed for a few more min and then made our way to 8 Trax. 70’s and 80’s music…lots of tv’s and big screens that play the music videos. Very fun!!

I think we must have gotten back to the room around 2am?? We got to bed a bit later and slept late!

Sunday we got up and packed our stuff for the move to the new hotel. We didn’t get out of Shades of Green until 11. Then we went into Orlando and went the Millenia Mall to get some food (Chinese) and then on to the Bass Pro Shop to check Again for this fish fry set. Again they didn’t have it. I think we need to order it. After that we headed to an outlet mall and went into the Sears Appliance store and drooled over the stuff in there!

It was about 1:30 then so we figured we’d drive to our new hotel (Port Orleans – French Quarter…first time) and see if we could check in. We got there around 2 and I waited in line while Johnny explored, though he did come back about every 5 min to check on me! We got our room (bldg 1. rm 1101). We layed around in there for a bit and then went to check out the hotel. Our bldg was right next to the river…it was really nice. Of course, the boat to Downtown Disney wasn’t running…I was looking forward to that. We also noticed a hot tub…

Ooh, I have to go...I'll try to finish later today!

Melanie - Thank you! And you are very welcome! :flower1:

Okay...I guess I better put the rest of the story in now!

After we walked around we headed to Downtown Disney for some shopping. We were supposed to go to MGM but it was so cold neither of us wanted to go because we’d be outside so much!! So instead we just shopped! I finished b’day shopping for Nikki (sister) and Jill (friend). We stopped in the Ghiradeli (sp) place and split a banana split. A lot of people say it’s nothing to rave about but we loved it! :mickeybar: We got cookie dough, strawberry cheesecake, and blueberry cheesecake for the icecream and chocolate, strawberry, and raspberry toppings along with whipped cream and a cherry. To Die For.

We got back to the hotel and decided to go to the hot tub. Neither of us has been in one in YEARS and never together so that was really nice. There was this HUGE group already there…they were a family of 37 (no, all 37 weren’t at the hot tub) and from Philly. They were super nice and even gave me some beer! We stayed in there for about an hour and a half. The plan was to get a caricature done of us to commemorate the engagement, go eat, and then go back to Pleasure Island. Well, we got the caricature done. It’s SO cute! She put the ring on the wrong finger…but that’s okay. Then we went to Uno’s for dinner…very good. While we were there we decided that we really just wanted to go back to the hotel and cuddle! It was too cold to go out again! So that’s just what we did!

Monday we got up and went to the gift shop and went on our way.

Congratulations! How romantic! I love the caricature! :bride:

Congratulations!!!

I enjoyed reading your trip report!

My husband also proposed to me at the Grand Floridian...we splurged on a room there and he did it out on the balcony overlooking the castle at dusk - so romantic! Best wishes for you both and happy planning!

Next trip - ask people to take a pic of BOTH of you! No one ever minds that, and although your self portraits are fine, you should have some other pics of the both of you!!!

Good luck in Kuwait!
~Linda
