My dining reviews from May 11 - 16, 2006 ~ WITH PICTURES!

Thanks for the pictures of Marrakesh. After many trips, we are finally giving this a try in Aug.

Awesome Thread Seaspray!!!!! You have helped me make up my mind as where to take Dmom when we goin in Aug.

Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks for the excellent reviews, and the great pictures you've included. I especially enjoyed reading about your meal at Restaurant Marrakesh. I wish I could convince my family to give it a try. Maybe I'll try it on a solo trip.

Looking forward to the rest of your reviews. :)

We also have ADRS for Marakesh and cant wait to try it. Thanks for the excellent reviews and pics. Yummy

Thanks for the reviews! Can't wait to hear what you thought of Ohana for dinner. We ate there once before they changed the menu and didn't care for it , but we're going to give it another try this August.

We've been there several times "Before" and once after - I miss the rice, beans and won tons but we still very much enjoyed our meal.

Terry-thanks for the great reviews. Now I really want to try Restaurant Marrakesh lol I have only changed ADRS like 4 times.

Enjoying the dining review/photo combo idea. Clever! Keep 'em coming. Your reviews (so far) align pretty well with our ADRs.

As for the 50's Prime Time Cafe, do you think you were just there on an 'off' day?

Wonderful reviews, Seaspray! I'm glad I had dinner before reading them!
I hope there's still more coming...

This was actually the third time we had dinner at 'Ohana in less than a year. Last July they still had the old menu, but last fall, and last week, obviously the new menu was in place.

We seem to always have a good time at this restaurant, and this time was no different.

We've never had a bad server here, either, as I've read that others have had.

Ok, on with the pictures....

Let's start with the wonderful salad, with honey lime dressing, and the sticky wings:

The veggies:

The shrimp, the dipping sauces in the foreground, and in the background, the potatoes au gratin:

And finally, dessert! Bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and bananas foster sauce:

The plate of moist, steaming hot wash cloths, at the end of the meal:

We thoroughly enjoyed this meal. We were dining with friends and were a party of 5, and had a good time. During the meal, the ukelele player was having fun with the kids and had them up dancing and teaching them to dance the hula. At one point, a few of us at our table happened to look over towards the open grill and saw a VERY LARGE chef dancing the hula, while he cooked. We all looked at each other and grinned, and thought this was one of the cutest things we'd ever seen at WDW! LOL When the song was over, we all clapped and cheered for him! He turned around to look at us and then walked over to our table to chat with us. He was such a good sport, and posed with us (DH took the picture, so he's not in this one):

Ah, almost forgot to mention that the pork on this particular evening was excellent! Moist, cooked perfectly, and very flavorful! The beef was ok, tender and flavorful, but the piece I happened to have had some fat running through it, but everyone else said theirs was fine.

I give this 'Ohana dinner ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

UP NEXT: Brown Derby - lunch

Wonderful reviews and amazing photos!!!!! Thank you for taking the time to do this. Jiko is on my wish list but we have no room on our upcoming trip. I will definitely fit it in next time if I have to go by myself. ;) It looks so delicious.

Also, do you remember what kind of drink is in the photo at 'Ohana with the wings and salad?? It looks like something orangy. YUM. I cannot drink right now due to some medication but by the time my Oct. trip rolls around---look out :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ;) Good thing Disney does the driving. Just kiddin'

Thanks again for the awesome reviews. Keep 'em coming.

It was my drink, and it was delicious! :sunny: I think this is what it was:

Island Sunset - A light blend of spiced rum, Malibu coconut rum, melon and peach combined with guava passion fruit juice $8.00

Seaspray: Hi again ... back to the question about dinner at Boma. Did they have prime rib, or was the marinated sirloin the subsitute for it that night? Just wondering, as I was led to believe Boma had prime rib on the buffet every night. Thanks again for your great reviews and pictures!

Oh sorry, I forgot to answer this! Yes, they did also have prime rib, which I didn't see at first, and which is why I had the sirloin on my plate. My DH went back up and got a piece of prime rib and I tasted it, and it was good. I was just too full from everything else at that point to get some myself.

I've also heard it referred to as fried "boursin" cheese, whatever that is. :confused3 It's yummy though!

Boursin cheese is a great herby soft cheese that you can buy at your local grocery. It's not cheap, but it's delicious!

Thanks for all the pics OP. Helped me decided to eat at Morrocco and either Jiko or Boma.

SeaSpray, thanks for your prompt reply. We're staying at the AKL in January, but still don't know if we're gonna try Boma for dinner. DS and I would probably have to stick to the meat and bread only! But I do believe we'll try it for breakfast one morning. Thanks again!
