He found out last night that if your from other countries ( UK, France ETC)you can book your 2009 vacation. The CM didnt really seem to have an answer so she put him on hold for a while. Still not clear butshe daid they will be out shortly for US. once the Cms get prompted on the new rates and ETC. He is still peeved. He said that is so not fair.

Might be because planning an international trip take more work than those of us planning trips within the US.

wait til he finds out that they get longer park hopper passes, and more! Give them a break, they're vacationing in this country. Be gracious and cut them some slack. Disney is trying to accommodate their needs. They usually get a package deal through their travel agents along with some perks to entice them to cross the pond.

That's what I was thinking.
I would think it would take much more planning for someone coming from across the world to plan a trip to WDW. If I had the money to do it, I could jump on a plane this afternoon and get to WDW. I don't have to worry about getting a passport or making sure that it is still current. Also, since my DS9 has epilepsy there are health concerns to think about. I would have to make sure that our health insurance would cover him going to the E.R. if needed. If it didn't then I would have to look into getting coverage that did. I'm sure there are people out there that have a 12+ hour flight to get there.
Personally, I have no problem with this at all. A WDW trip for my family of 4 from Texas is a heck of a lot cheaper than a family of 4 coming from England. Ok, so they get there rates early, but I just think that due to the extra cost they need longer to be able to save and pay it off.

I guess I could ask your husband if he had a team of Little Leaguers and there was one who had to take extra time to get the gear on, would he not give the boy or girl a few more minutes?

I can go outside right this minute, get in my car and be at Disney World in 8 hours. I can go to the Hartfield-Jackson Airport and take the next flight to Orlando with no problems.

So are you saying you cant book your vacation at all, or just don't know what the final price will be?

That's still not fair to what I would bet to be the majority of their customers.

Exactly what's not fair. They know how much poorer they will be after a visit first. Relax, plan your vacation as usual, use last years prices + 10% extra to be safe for an estimate and then when the 2009 resort rates come out, you'll be the first to speed dial.

You can book only as far out as 500 days in advance, which covers only part of 2009 at this point (we're looking to book for Xmas and can't do it right now, for example). Actual 2009 rates haven't been released yet, however, so your booking will be done at the 2008 rack rate and adjusted (up or down) when 2009 rates are available.

Good grief. It's not as every European is jumping up to plan a trip to Disney leaving you with nothing.

I am not clear on what's not fair.

Wow, I didn't realize it was that important to some people to book so far in advance. . .I am a last minute planner and prefer to book later rather than earlier. . .I don't want to have to think about my trip for an entire year. . .I would drive myself insane. . .However, that being said, I am going to start planning a Tokyo Disney trip for 2009, so I guess I will need to think about that one for a LOOOOOONG time. . .thank god I can take trips here to keep me occupied. . .

my only complaint is the fact that I can only get a 10 day ticket in the US while someone from outside the country can get a 14 day ticket... Disney should realize there were times in the past that I would have made my trip to Disney longer but cut it short because I didn't want to have to get an annual pass for everyone.

Which begs the question... can I by a ticket from a UK travel site and have them send me the ticke here in the states?

I'm from the Uk and we might have the prices in advance but we cannot use Disney pin codes, disney discount codes or AAA discounts if booked via UK website or Disney UK telephone booking centre this means we pay a higher price without any hope of every discounting it, we also have to pay a deposit of 1/4 of the value of the stay on the day we book and settle in full for the rest of the stay (even room only) at least 45 days before arrival. We also cannot cancel without losing the full deposit paid, even 7 months out! 1/4 of the value of a stay is a huge deposit to lose if we have to cancel for any reason

On the plus side we do get the Ultimate ticket which gives us either 14 day or 21 days with park hoppers and water parks all included in the price.

You win some you lose some :rotfl:

I didn't think about this until after I read your post. When you book ADR's from the UK do you have a UK number that you can call, or do you have to call the same 407 number that we have to call in the states? I hope that you don't have to call the 407 number. I know that call can be expensive enough for people in the states that do not have unlimited long distance. I just can't imagine making that call from the UK and being on hold for 45 + minutes before you even talk to a CM.

That's what I was going to say - some UK visitors on my other board said they have to call the regular 407 toll number (unless their TAs make their ADRs, I guess).

So, is that fair for them? I think it all evens out.
