Do you think the Jews have cornered the market on persecution? Have they been persecuted more than Christians in early Roman pre-Constantine days? Can't Christians also lay claim to the BC persecutions, since Jesus was a Jew? Do you think if we sing Old Testament songs in public schools and not New Testament songs, that will somehow even the score?

What's past is past, and I don't see where the Christians who are alive now are in any way responsible for the Reformation or the Holocaust. They are what they are, but they aren't occurring in the U.S. today. Now, the holocaust of Africans at the hands of other Africans, that could be considered present day persecution. I don't know any Jewish person who would exchange the persecution they face today in the U.S.A. for the persecution a Hutu suffered in Rwanda at the hands of a Tutsi (or Tutsi at hand of Hutu).

No, Jews have't cornered the market on persecution. But since Jews have exsisted for 5766 years and Christians have been around for 2006 years, you do the math. I think that tops most other "groups" of people. Now, does that mean that other groups being persecuted doesn't count. Absolutely not. If human beings were smarter, maybe they would have learned that hate and war because people are different is really stupid, and does not fix things. Again, I shall state I have nothing against Christians, I don't blame the Christian people for anything. I don't blame Germans for the Holocaust. My ex-dh was Christian and German, and his maternal family were Nazi's.

As far as the songs go, I already stated in antoher post that the school should include all the songs, or take them all out. The schools can't have it both ways. I see nothing wrong with the Gospel song, since they are singing "Jewish" songs.

And what kind of score evening out are your talking about?

No what is past is not past. If human beings can learn from the stupid hatred of the past then current holocaust's would not occur. We have people killing people today becuase of religious and cultural differences. Human beings haven't learned anything from their past mistakes. But forgetting the past would be so stupid. And there should be no persecution today in the USA, or anywhere, and there is. And hatred and stupidity is what fuels it. In the year 2006 there should NOT BE ANY anti-semitism, racism, or another other sort of hate the other guy in this country. But there is.

As I stated in post 215, I think it is all wrong. Why are you trying to twist what I said to make it seem like I feel that only Jewish persecution is what I care about. If that is what you think, then you should take a remedial reading comprehension class.

Bottom line is we are intelligent human beings, and we have to learn to stop hating. I would love for my children to grow up and not watch the news and see a war. I would love them not to have to worry about an enemy country dropping a bomb. And I would love for them not to have to worry that another building 45 miles from their home, is not going to be destroyed by stupid hateful people. But the only way that is going to happen is if everyone person in the world thought that way. But they don't.

This is one of the comments that led me (and others) to think that you believe that Christians hate Jews. Again, to be clear, my comment was to say that I don't know any Christians that hate Jews and have even said many times through these posts that most I know respect each other and love and serve the same God.

From nursery through 3rd grade, I lived in a little town in southern Illinois where we were one of two Jewish families. The town was primarily southern Baptist. The Catholics, blacks and Jew (me) were placed in the "slow" class and the principal (who believed that Jesus was a white supremacist and that’s OK with him) got furious with me when I won most of the academic awards in the school. The district superintendent questioned the principal for two hours why the top achiever was in the slow class. The principal called me “ a four-eye Jew who had no place in his school.”

My first experience with Jesus was at the hands of other children in my neighborhood in this town. After a Sunday sermon, they came to me asked if I believed in Jesus. I said “No.” They said if you don’t believe in him then you are going to hell and “to protect me from myself” they beat me up and dragged me to their church (only a block away) and tried to baptize me. In a last ditch effort I escaped breaking the baptismal bowl. The minister did not stop the boys and tried to get my parents to pay for the bowl.

It has taken me years to get over that experience and I have still have trouble entering churches. I only go for my 12-step meetings and friends weddings. When I was in Paris, I refused to go into Notre Dame.

Extreme beliefs bring extremist actions.

I think it is incredibly sad that you endured this kind of hatred and horrible treatment. Like I said to Lukendc, try not to judge our God based on the sins of the people who believe in Him. He is loving.

Am I missing something?? I haven't read anywhere, unless I missed it. And if I did so, please point me to the post. Where are the posts from the Jews that hate Christians??

Didn't you know that every non-Christian in America hates Christians? There is a war against Christains in America. They're being persecuted, lynched, fed to the lions and worst of all they're are not allwed to sing "Jesus loves me" at public school concerts.

I notice lots of religions not loving each other very much. People of faith have to put up with alot of crap, that's a shame. And then they turn around and forget what it feels like and do it to people of other faiths. There are people like this in every religion -- what are you gonna do? People just suck sometimes. (I have that embroidered on a pillow)

That would be the point I was trying to make..It's not a blame game, except in the sense that all religions at one time or another have done things that are not reflective of the tennants of their religion

Check out this interesting poll and maybe you'll begin to see why some people think it is shameful:

Americans, especially Catholics, approve of torture

Percent saying using "torture against suspected terrorists in order to gain important information" is often or sometimes justified:

Catholics: 56%
White Protestants: 49%
White Evangelicals: 49%
Total Public: 46%
Secular: 35%

You can bet your *** that if someone was holding one of my kids hostage somehwere and I had the person who knew where they were there would be some serious torture going on. Common sense people, common sense. Sometimes there is just no other way than to use force. Not sure why some people don't get this. Put it into a personal presepctive.

Torture = common sense? Sorry, I do not equate the two.

So you would let someone/many innocent die or be hurt to save the terrorist/murderer from torture?

How about if you were being held captive somewhere and about to be beheaded? Would you then say please do not toture the person who knows where I am? I highly, highly doubt it!!

I don't blame G-d. I blame the "man of G-d" who incited the kids. I blame apologists for that person.

All religions are good, it's people who screw it up. I think religions would be better if people weren't involved. :rotfl2:

How is this statement about Christians? This comment was based on the lovely White Supremists that are in our country, Muslims that are killing each other, and all throught out world history.

Again I never stated that Jews hate Christians. Do you have a guilty conscience over something?? Geez. This comment was in response to a person that posted that Jesus was somehow relavant to the Jewish faith. I was pointing out that he wasn't. Are you saying that I am wrong, that the Jewish people haven't been persecuted by Chrisitians, and by others? If me stating this facts offends you, well then you offend easy. My stating these facts is by no means me saying that I dislike Christians. If I didn't like something or someone I would state it. I also am far too intelligent to blame or dislike an entire religion based on what some of them believe.

That fact that the terrorists use the same twisted logic to do what they want to do seems to escape you.

I don't remember you referring to White Supremists before now, but many references to Christians. WOW, You are misunderstanding or not reading my posts correctly---I am NOT saying that you are saying Jews hate Christians----- I am saying that you have made reference to Christians hating Jews! If you go back and read all of my posts, you would realize that we have had a very civil discussion concerning all of this and I have not been easily offended. I don't argue your points about persecution, but do believe it has gone both ways. Again, and please understand me, I am commenting on your feelings that Christians hate Jews and I don't know any that do. I, as well, am too intelligent to blame or dislike an entire reliligion based on what some of them believe. One more time---I believe we worship and love the same God and He loves us.

Oh, I have never stated that "Christians hate Jews". I have stated that Jews have been persecuted. And I stated that Jews were persecuted by others in the name of their religion. I personally don't know any Christians that hate Jews, and I am glad that you don't either. It means we hang with nice people. That doesn't mean to say that Hate doesn't exisit among them, and all other religions towards others.

Can I ask if you agree that WHite supremists hate Jews, blacks, Muslims, Asians, Homosexuals, and lots of other minorites?

I realize that you never stated it directly, but the comments that I pulled were just what led me to believe that that was how you felt. I'm glad we hang with nice people :goodvibes

On the White Supremists---of course they have hatred for others--that's why they call themselves "supreme" :furious: ---but I hope you are not believing that real Christians fall into this category.
