My DD15 was in art class, put her Ipod on her table (I know it should have not been in sight, but they are allowed and all the kids have them out) went to wash her brushes, finished and walked back to the table, didn't see it and thought she must have put it back in her bag. She picked up her bag and left.

When she got in my vehicle, she went for it and realized it was gone, she was so scared to tell me and just cried and cried. We turned around went back to the school, had the teacher look for it and it was gone. The teacher did tell her he saw it on her table, which means it was that class it went missing. Someone there is a thief.

I want the teacher to take a minute to talk to the students about it and let them know that he and my DD know it's someone right there and to please return it anonymously somehow...wishful thinking anyway.

Tough lesson to learn for her, my heart breaks for her, she loved that thing and now the new (blank) owner is just loving it too. She was given this as reward for honor roll and her birthday last year.

I'm sorry for your DD.

My 15 DD also got her IPOD and camera stolen at school.

If you have away to tell it from others, offer a reward. Put up posters saying $25.00 to anyone with information on who took the ipod or the return of said Ipod.

Money makes people talk big time.

It is a tough lesson to learn; hugs to your daughter.

My DD's graphing calculator was stolen several years ago when she went TO THE CHALKBOARD to do a problem in class!!! So I know how easy it is for it to happen (and no, we never did get it back).

It is terrible. So young to steal:sad2: ..It is wrong at any age, but at such tender ages, what do kids think????

Pixie dust that a miracle happens, and it turns up in the Lost and Found...I know I dream big, but it is possible.:grouphug:

not a bad idea

thanks everyone - I feel terrible because she keeps telling me SHE's sorry :sad1:

That is sad, & I hope it is returned to her.

My son had a really cool ship on a rope necklace that ONLY Disney CM's can buy. It was given to him by our good friend who is a CM. Below the ship, it had the plastic carrier to put your Disney park pass in. We went on our first Disney Cruise & he was in the kids club. It was time for lunch (or dinner ~ don't remember anymore) & he was the last one to go from his computer station to go to the restroom. All the other kids were lined up already. My son (without thinking), left that cool rope necklace at the desk he was sitting at to use the restroom & then he was going to pick it up on the way out. Only CM's were directly in that area where he left that necklace. He came out from using the restroom, went to the desk to retrieve his necklace & go line up & it was GONE. He was just devastated! We went back looking for it, we filled out a report for a lost & found item, we asked all the CM's if they had seen it....we even asked other kids that he had played with that day if they had possibly seen it but everyone claimed they hadn't seen it. So it's gone.... My son did learn a valuable lesson though. :(

That is terrible! You know I really feel that these kids that steal will have it come around to them at some point in their life and I hope it does, so they will know the feeling of sadness, guilt and bitterness it leaves to the innocent.

Happened to my DS as well! He had his nano in his bookbag. He went to get something in line in the cafeteria and when he came back he happened to notice his bag had been opened. He looked inside and the Nano was gone! Later, between classes, he saw this kid waving around a Nano. Went up to the kid, saw that it was his, and told him he wanted it back. The kid put it in his pocket and told DS that it was his Nano! My son reached in the kid's pocket, pulled his Nano out, and walked away!

Now, we know it was DS's Nano because it is ENGRAVED!!!! The kid just watched him and never said a word.

The principal asked me if I wanted to press charges. The kid was only in the 7th grade. I can't believe it has come to this.

So sorry about your DD's Ipod. It would be so nice if she would get it back. It is too bad these kids are so quick to steal.

I just had the stealing chat yesterday with my 13 year old. We were listening to the radio about some kids that got caught at the mall for shoplifting.. He replied "that's just dumb" And I am all glowing with my Yes it is dumb and then the shoplifting talk again. I ask do you know anyone that steals? He replies no- well nothing big stuff like candy:scared1: HELLO THAT IS STEALING!! So I didn't react that way I took the calm."Oh really have you ever" which would have shocked me because he is a really good kid. And he said of course not- But it really took that to get me to realize sometimes you have to drill it in again and again and again. Stealing is stealing no matter what it is.

He had some minor things stolen this year - a kid broke into his locker and took some of his art supplies(about $20 worth of stuff) He got caught- Told ds he was sorry. and was suppose to replace the supplies. Never did. I didn't follow up with his parents because ds didn't want me to and he is in Foster Care and really they don't need to be bothered with that. But then another part of me was like this kid need consequences to learn something. He got suspended right after that for something else :rolleyes1

Oh and I don't let DS bring his electronics to school. Mean mom here.

Had a similar experience with my son (and it was only a gameboy game-he took it to school with his teacher's permission, but against mine). I sub alot and all schools I sub at have a no eletronics policy(yours may not)...but I can not tell you how many kids have these things at school. My line is "I am looking for a new IPOD...and if yours is out, it will be mine" The kids laugh and make sure they are put away safe, but I can not tell you how difficult to get kids to listen to this rule when they are so short sited to see the problem with bringing it to school in the first place.

I feel so sorry for your daughter...it is a painful thing.

**We have a problem in our school where a mom was shocked to find a 1,200 IM bill because her daughter shared her password......:sad2: And the police are involved

Unfortunately it's happened to the best of us...

My DD (13) was going to a basketball tournament. Their bus arrived late due to the fact they were up on the mountain snowboarding that day. Long story made short, the girls had to hurry up and change so that they could play their game. The school principal told them where to put their stuff. At the end of the tournament my DD's winter jacket was stolen. It was only TWO DAYS OLD and was a $400 Spyder jacket:guilty: She was so upset, immediately began shaking and crying. I felt so bad for her...just like you said about your DD. The entire night all we could keep on thinking about was the horrible person that did this.:guilty:

Santa brought my 16 year old son a 30GB Video iPOD for Christmas. It went missing from his locker about mid-February.

The school has a pretty good idea who took it because a boy started showing off his "new" black video iPOD at a party the following weekend and a couple of boys went to the Vice Principal and told him that they thought it was my son's. The VP called the boy's house and spoke to the Mom, she said that he told her he bought it with his own money, but she refused to let the VP check the serial number.

They've done a couple of surprise locker searches, but they haven't been able to catch him with it. The VP said that if anybody ever sees it at the school they'll confiscate it and check the serial number, but unless that happens -- not much they can do.

yeah, my son didn't have his locker locked. Tough lesson to learn.

I got him a $39 shuffle the other day off the clearance store. He's happy with that right now.

I'm sorry, but I don't think she should have taken her Ipod to school in the first place.

It *is* a rough lesson, and I personally do not allow any electronic devices to be taken to school, but I wanted to mention that it might be possible that the loss is in some part insured.

If you purchased the item fairly recently with a CC, the buyer's protection plan on the card may cover the loss -- check the fine print. Also, homeowner's insurance sometimes covers thefts other than home burglaries, check your policy carefully.

I agree, but they are allowed and all the kids use them. Ipod's are portable so you can take them anywhere and this could have happened right by the pool at Disney too.

I'm sorry this happened. My daughter's digital camera was stolen off the table at the school Christmas formal. It didn't fit in her small dressy purse so she had left it on the table when she went to dance. It was a pretty cheap camera (like $100) and was two years old. But she had pictures on it that she hadn't downloaded yet. She was so upset about losing the pictures especially. Good lesson for her, I guess.:sad1:
