My DD (Sian) is...

...having her hair chemically straightened tomorrow.

For those of you who haven't met her, she has really, really curly hair which she hates. DH and I have agreed to let her have it straightened (despite it costing an absolute fortune ). I promised Nat that I would post some before and after pictures so here are the 'before' pics and I will post the 'after' ones tomorrow (fingers crossed that it works )

When I took these pictures, it was the first time I've seen her with her hair down since they came to live with us - and even I was a bit shocked at just how 'big' it was So, wish us luck - and, hopefully, I will have a very happy daughter tomorrow

My DD had beautiful curly hair too, which she loved until she was about 14, she then had it cut into short layers which she finds much easier to straighten now

I'm sure they'll tell you at the hairdressers but she must be really careful after she has had it done as the hair is really fragile and so can be damaged really easily in the first 24 hours or so.

Joh my hair used to be almost as curly as that and I used to have it treated all the time. It takes absolutely ages to have it done but it is worth it. Be prepared for a big shock, when you have it done it's so totally different, oh and be prepared for it being much longer!

She will love it I'm sure (I know I always did).

It is permanent, apart from the regrowth which will grow curly again although my hairdresser told me that one of her customers started to grow straight after having the regrowth straightened a couple of times.

Wishing you loads of luck for tomorrow.
I know what sian is going through as my hair was identical her's. When i was a small child growing up my parents always keeped my hair very short as it was the only way to cope with it, as we didn't have the options that are available today.
I was known at school as crystal tips from the short animated series crystal tips and alistair. I spent my days & hours crying that i wanted straight hair . It also affects what we think of ourself.
I know have my wish because of the mixture of pills i take for my back it's had an affect on my hair but as well made it go very thin.

My sister had her straightened but it wasn't as curly as Sian's and it worked really well was always glossy and straight some mornings she didn't even need to brush it I always had dead straight hair until I had the kids then it went really wavy We always want the opposite of what we've got don't we
