Yes she does! She's 8. I noticed it a bit when she was wearing her Keens this summer and just assumed it was the Keens (although, for the price you pay for Keens, I'd think they'd be odor-free!) We were trying on dance shoes yesterday and she was wearing socks and Nike gym shoes. When she took off her shoe to try the dance shoe on - well, let's just say my eyes started to water.

Anybody have any ideas or product testimonials they can share?

TIA! :goodvibes

It might be the shoes too. You might try throwing a couple tea bags in them over night (it works).

I got green tea wipes and put a Ziploc of them in DD's school and gym bag. I also put odor balls in her shoes. Regular soaking in strong green tea should help if she will do it.

DD has been like this since infancy -- this is one baby whose toes I never nibbled on!

Keens will wash in the washing machine; add a cup of white vinegar to clear the odor, and let them dry in the sun.

My DD had the same problem for a while. We tried various things without much working. She was not allowed to take her shoes off in my car! We got some of those odor balls to put in the worst culprits but I don't think they helped all that much and we got powder for her feet so she could use that before putting the shoes on. You might want to try a cotton sock instead of those Nike ones too.

The weird thing is, the problem disappeared after a while. I'd forgotten all about it, until reading your post.

I'll definitely try the tea bags and green tea soaks! And I'm also going try washing her keens with vinegar - thanks for the suggestions!!

Google "dr. Oz and stinky feet" He has a remedy where you soak your feet in cooled off tea (you brew it hot and wait for it to cool). there is a science behind why it works which he explains.

She's a dancer....I understand about the foot odor...it seems to be a universal thing among the dance girls :crazy2:

My daughter sometimes soaks her feet in hydrogen peroxide. That helps for a while, but then she goes to dance class and I start gagging all over again.

I just looked it up and I'm willing to give it a shot! The science makes a lot of sense.

Maybe we need to invent guaranteed odor-free dance shoes. We'd probably make a mint! :rotfl:

Yep, definitely a dance thing. Dance bag funk is like nothing else on earth! leather shoes that have been sweated in over and over with no socks on! We have found that baby powder sacets in the dance bag help a lot, but just airing out her feet at home is a good idea too. To much time sweating in shoes is bound to make stinky feet.

I have a 2 year old with stinky feet. Her dad has them too. They both only get white socks. They are bleached on hot each wash then a vinaigrette rinse.

My daughter does not sleep with socks. This has helped a lot.

My husband actually puts absorb mine jr in his feet which helps a lot. With the toddler we just live with her foot funk.

i always stuck fabric softener into my shoes to make them smell fresh... I used to get stinky feet but i bought an extra pair of shoes to rotate them in and out. i never have stinky feet after that.

I can personally vouch for the tepid tea method. I always had stinky feet and when I was a waitress it just added to the problem. Brew tea, make it room temperature and have her soak her feet in it (I used a mop bucket) change/wash sneakers and same with socks. It was the only thing that worked for me, and I tried a lot!

Having soccer players and CC runners in the house, we keep an Odor Eater spray in the garage for them to use when they get back from practice. There are also powders you can put on feet to help. Does your daughter ever wear shoes without socks. I know during the late 80s/early 90s canvas shoes without socks craze, stinky sweaty feet were quite the problem.

My classmate in dance had terribly stinky feet. She never wore socks with any of her shoes, and that seemed to be the culprit. Even in ballet she wore footless tights.

This kind of thing is often caused by bacteria!
Like an infection....

When this happened to my younger brother, they had my mom get something like a Betadine wash, treatment for his feet.

Also, all at the same time... Sanitize and clean everything to do with shoes, socks, bedding, etc...

You should be able to soak/clean Keen type shoes...
Any old tennis shoes that might be getting old anyhow... you might want to replace them.

Wear cotton socks with any closed shoes until you know the problem is cleared up...

Hope this helps!

Yikes! Besides being a dancer, dd is also a soccer player and ds12 is the CC runner (and baseball player.) I think I'm doomed to have stinky shoe smell in my house for at least the next 10 years! Between cleats and dance shoes :crazy2:!

Thanks again for all the suggestions - we're definitely going to try them out until we find one that works!

My DD had stinky feet last year and she wore Nike gym shoes.

I threw them away and got rid of all her thin socks so she only wears cotton socks now and a different gym show, not Nike.

No more stinky feet.

What the heck is up with Nike shoes??!! At least these are her "old" gym shoes from last spring. We are shoe shopping this weekend, so no more Nikes for this girl!

I think the socks make a difference too. Make sure she is wearing cotton, but breathable socks, not the thin cutesie socks.

Good luck!
