Ok guys . . .I need advice from the preteen/teen crowd. My DD will be 13 in September. We have just come back from WDW (went for July 4th) and we are supposed to return at Thanksgiving time.

My DD would of rather stayed in the room and watched t.v. than partake in any activity at the resort. She hated just waiting around for the parades and fireworks and she just acted like a big mope . . .

I don't know what to do . . .AP's, airlines, MVMCP tix are already all set, my DS who is 9 still wants to go as well as me and my DH . . .

Are all of you total disney lovers or do your parents make the ressies and you just tag along? Is there anything to make WDW fun again for my DD? Or should we just skip this vacation? I would hate to leave DD behind with my parents for the week.

Any advice from you guys is appreciated!

DON'T SKIP IT!! LOL, I SPEAK FOR ALL OF US WHEN I SAY, DONT PASS UP THE CHANCE! I'D DIE IF I COULD GO THAT MANY TIMES. LET'S SEE...IF ITS NOT A LOT OF TROUBLE WHY NOT BRING ONE OF HER FRIENDS ALONG? IT WOULD PROBABLY MAKE THINGS MORE ENJOYABLE, AND GIVE HER SOMEONE TO HANG OUT WITH...OR BRING HER ON HERE AND WELL TALK SOME SENSE INTO HER! LOL

If its ok w/ you, she could go do stuff by herself instead of w/ the family. She might have more fun if she was able to decide what she wanted to do instead of just having to go along w/ your plans.

Has she been to Disney quest? If she really doesn't want to go to the parks she could always go spend the day there, or just shop at DD.

At least let her help w/ the planning or something, so she can pick some restaurants or something, that way maybe she'll feel like she's more involved in the vacation. Definitely don't skip your trip!:)

DONT SKIP YOUR TRIP!!!! as someone said earlier, if its not to much trouble have her bring a friend along. I know that would cheer me up and make me feel more independent. Disney Quest would be a great place to hang out, play video games and meet new people. Have her come on here and we'll talk to her. We'll convince her that theres always something new and exciting at Disney!

defintly don't skip it!!!!!!!
bring a friend and let her mabey go a diferent park with her friend
if she likes roller coasters tell her about the rocken roll roller coaster in mgm and mabey go to on of the water parks

AHHHHHHHH!!
don't skip your trip!

I went thru a mini-stage of no disney...we had a bad trip in 1998 and I wasn't real happy to go back in 1999 but I went it and I just had a disney rebirth...every since then I have become by far the disney freak of the household!! I dunno I guess I realized that it doesn't matter how old you are disney is wonderful!!

I agree! maybe try to bring a friend along...I've never done it before but I would love to
if not...I bet someone on the teen board or something is going at thanksgiving...maybe your DD and them could meet up and hang out or something

going to DQ and a water park is a good idea! maybe let her go out on her own a bit!!

ask her why she doesn't wanna go anymore and what she thinks would make the vacation better..maybe she has some ideas

I'll add my vote of not canceling the trip. There are lots of things for her to do at Disney that I bet she hasn't seen before. I too have an AP, I go there a lot and sometimes we never even see a park! One idea to get her excited is to maybe make a reservation for one of the behind the scenes tours. There are some she can't go on cuz she's not old enough but many others that she can. There's always resort hopping and seeing all the resorts. There's interesting things at each resort like the view from the top floor of the Contemporary.Or the Butterfly Garden at PO-R. The Hidden Mickey list at Wilderness Lodge. Night programs at Ft. Wilderness. The Boardwalk's old time entertainment machines. And of course the Arcade at any hotel (Contemporary has the best). And the boat rentals at most hotels. And gift shops. And who knows what else she'd find?

Thanks guys! I truly appreciate it . . . .I will have another talk with her.

She does have a DIS account, Tinkerbell2001 . . . .maybe I can talk her into getting back on the DIS boards and asking some questions that maybe she'll feel more comfy with talking with other teens.

Thanks again.

Dont cancal! I know what it is like to have someone not want to go to disney in your party!

As most people have nbeen saying to take a friend.... I would like to add on to that! If you can take a friend that also get to go to disney at least once a year and has also been there in the last couple of years! I took a group down and some of the people in the group hadnt been there for over 10 years and they had to do everything in the parks and see everything! If you have already done and seen everything then that the LAST thing that you want to do! you want to have you space and take your time not be draged around!

Also people have been saying to let her go out on her own! thats a lot of fun! you get to do your own thing at your own pace! anyways I hope that helps!

ahhh! Dont' skip it!!!

I'm and only child and I've never brought a friend to WDW w/me, so I'm stuck w/my parents. (That is a good thing though!:) ) But they usually dont want to do everything I do just cause I walk faster than them and they can't keep up. lol. On our last trip, we were at MK and my parents wanted to see the parade so while they were doing that, we set up everything so I could go on all the rides while they stayed for the parade! (they have absolutely NO lines during parades!) It worked out great! Then I surprised them w/Dole Whips on my way back after the parde! Dole Whips are the best snack too!

:smooth:

Defintally do not skip the trip and i agree with the others maybe if it is not too much trouble take one of her friends with you.

I think you should take me! Just Kidding!

and like everyone said, bring her friend, or maybe one of her cousins? Because when we go on vacatin with our cousins and friends, its a blast, even if we are somewhere we don't want to be!
