Our elementary school offers a variety of afterschool enrichement classes. This time my 3rd grade daughter signed up for the scrapbooking class. They had to bring in 30 pictures that they are going to use to make a scrapbook. Of course all of her pics were from our Disney trip.

She is very excited about the class. I can't wait to see the end result.

Beth that sounds like fun! Better be hidining your stuff! But how great for her in the future if she really likes it. I hope my kids want to keep scrapbooks...I would love to look back on my teen years and see pictures and friends!

My DD has played around with scrapbooking for several years now, although not real seriously. Partly because she thought she wasn't "as good" as I was. I showed her some of my early attempts and reminded her there isn't any skill that happens overnight!

In December our GS troop did single pages which we framed (the frame a page idea) as a way to fulfill a requirement on a badge. They all LOVED it and wanted to do more. So we have adjusted our schedule for the rest of the year so that once ever 4 weeks (we meet weekly) a meeting will be for scrapbooking. And we're working to set up a joint event with another troop for a crop!

Even if DD & I end up scrapping the same event (and I'm sure we will) it will be interesting to see the different perspectives.

I might hide some of my stuff Beth, but I'll also let her know what she can take from freely! But my DD is nearly 14 too!

My DD has been scrapping since 3rd grade (now in 7th). She is just now becoming a serious scrapper. We have gone to crops together and went away for a night with mmy DC and her DD. We have also done a trading pages crop at our LSS. She is really geting into it and it is fun for me. She has her own supplies and since she babysits, she has her own $$$ to buy things she wants. I pay for the big stuff like new pages and page protectors. We also share everything. She uses my Sixxiz and Zyron and knows where to find eyelets and everything else. Unfortunately she also knows where I stash my Jelly Bellys :sunny:

DD has her own style, but we work together one some of her stuff too. She'll ask for advise and sometimes take it. She's pretty good with color but not my taste so I say nothing. She is also journaling now that I told her about the monthly challenges. Told her she could only use pages she journals in so she has gone back to journal several pages. If figure she will appreciate it later in life when she forgets who people are and where she went and why.

DD and I are also part of a GS troop that will be scrapping with Deb's troop. I have 5 7th graders who are all exited to learn to be better scrappers.

What a wonderful school you must go to! I have been huntinng around for a class my neice could go to. (My DS is only 3) I have been working with my neice and she is very talented even though she is only in first grade. I just can't find a class for that young.
