My cousins husband was hit by a car...

I added a prayer to the Silent Unity website for Ojo, and your cousin's husband, and for your family. It is said that God doesn't give a person more than they can bear, but sometimes I wonder...

oh no phyllis, this is horrible! Sincere hope and prayers to him and his family. This IS the season for miracles and I truly believe in them. I pray that he holds on and while the road may be a long one, he WILL come through this somehow.
Let them know we are all pulling and praying for him and better news to come!

Prayers for Jeff and all who love him.

And for you.   oops, this is Denise.

Phyllis, your family including your cat are in my prayers. Your have had so much happen this year, but keeping hanging on. I do check the board everyday to see the statis and I am hoping things take a turn for the good.

Phyllis - How's everyone doing today? Ojo and your cousin? I'm hoping that no news is good news.

just checking to see if there's an update. Still praying Phyllis

The neurologist was not optimistic yesterday. My cousin went nuts. He didn't even look at Jeff. He was going by the scan. She then called in the neurosurgeon he had from a previous injury. He had slipped and fell at work hitting his head. This was two years ago. He had swelling of his brain at that time, and they removed a bit of his skull to allow for it. He never was on a respirator..or had any other complications from the fall. He fully recovered 100% and went back to work. The neurosurgeon told her there is always hope, but it wasn't looking good. Maybe this current injury was more severe due to his prior history. Who knows? I'm just speculating. In any case...he was having another scan done this morning. I will be up to the hospital this afternoon, and hope to know more at that time. I personally would like to seem him at at one of the well known NYC hospitals or a more prominent Long Island facility. Nothing against the hospital he's in, it's small community hospital, and the nursing staff is great. They have told the nuerologist that he had some response..but the doctor was skeptical anyway. Who knows.
We are praying for a miracle.
Thank you to all who have posted for keeping Jeff in your prayers. Please..please continue to do so.

Praying for him and your family.

Everyone keeps telling me that everything I have gone through was to make me stronger. I kept saying "I don't want to be stronger". Working out stinks!!!!

Here's to hoping you don't have to get any stronger.

This is the season for miracles Phyllis. Dont give up. We are praying for Jeff and your beloved cat.

:grouphug: To you and your family
I would get him to a major hosp with a neuro unit. A small hosp is fine for a broken arm or having a baby however this is much more!! I dont mean to intrude however i work in a center city icu unit and there is a HUGE difference!! Also my DH was in a race car wreck and broke c1 and 2 I had him transfurred him to jefferson hosp after a inital glim outlook and he is walkin and back to work. My thoughts and prayers are with you!!!

Saw Jeff yesterday..before the big snow storm hit. Knew we wouldn't be there for a couple of days. He does respond to pain (when he's pinched)..but he's still in a coma. He has the respirator..but they say he's over-riding it breathing himself as well. I did see quite a bit of movement in his legs and it appeared he even tried to turn his head at one point.
Only..his pupils are not reactive to light. That's a very bad sign. So..we wait.
I too, would have had him transferred ...maybe to Cornel/NY Presbyterian. That's me. I feel when you live in NY and are so close to facilities that have some of the best doctors in the world and money for newest technologies, why not take advantage of it. Yet..it's not my call. So I zip it. I'm trying to be as supportive as possible for my cousin, Lord knows she's got a lot on her plate right now. I did suggest moving Jeff, but his family seems to think he's in a trauma center with a good TBI unit. They're probably right.
It's just frustrating. You see people you love in so much pain, you grasp at anything that offers hope, and might alleviate their suffering.
We continue to pray.
