Saw Jeff yesterday..before the big snow storm hit. Knew we wouldn't be there for a couple of days. He does respond to pain (when he's pinched)..but he's still in a coma. He has the respirator..but they say he's over-riding it breathing himself as well. I did see quite a bit of movement in his legs and it appeared he even tried to turn his head at one point.
Only..his pupils are not reactive to light. That's a very bad sign. So..we wait.
I too, would have had him transferred ...maybe to Cornel/NY Presbyterian. That's me. I feel when you live in NY and are so close to facilities that have some of the best doctors in the world and money for newest technologies, why not take advantage of it. Yet..it's not my call. So I zip it. I'm trying to be as supportive as possible for my cousin, Lord knows she's got a lot on her plate right now. I did suggest moving Jeff, but his family seems to think he's in a trauma center with a good TBI unit. They're probably right.
It's just frustrating. You see people you love in so much pain, you grasp at anything that offers hope, and might alleviate their suffering.
We continue to pray.
