:scared1: If you were at Hollywood Studios this past Saturday (Nov 1st) outside of Hollywood & Vine around 12:45 or 1 PM and saw a child with her head stuck in the bars surrounding the shrubbery....yes, that was mine.

I always knew my second child was trouble LOL! And boy, is she ever! We had just finished our character lunch at Hollywood & Vine and my daughters and I exited while my husband paid the bill because my 20 month old was getting very fussy.

So we were standing beside the bars that surround the bushes and plants. They look like this.....(this is my 4 year old, not the one who got her head stuck)......

Well, I hear crying and I look down and see my child with her head through the bars! She's panicking and trying to pull her head back out. I try to stay calm. I remembered recently reading something about how children are usually stuck at the ears when something like this happens. So I carefully push her ears back and try to pull her out. Ummm.....yeah....that wasnt working.

So panic sets in. I'm trying to support my toddler so that she doesnt fall off of the small curb in her panic. She's screaming at the top of her lungs at this point and scared to death. I have no idea what to do. My husband was inside the restaurant.....there were no cast members around. So I called to a lady sitting on a bench and told her my daughter's head was stuck. This also attracted the attention of other passerby's. A couple of men ran over to us and try to help get her out. All to no avail.

By this time I'm really starting to panic and wish a CM would plllleeeaaasseee come over and help us. Everyone around is staring at us, a small crowd is starting to stop and watch. My poor baby is absolutely terrified. Finally, a man runs up and lifts her up just a bit. Miraculously her head comes out. That small portion of the bars must have been just a tad bit wider than the rest. I wanted to hug that man but my baby was crying and I just hugged her close and told him thank you.

Poor kid was so scared that she immediately laid her head down on my shoulder and went to sleep.

So Mr. Hero, if you are a Dis member, thank you so much for getting my baby out of the bars! I was really starting to panic and think that Disney security was going to have to come out with a big ol' hacksaw or something! :scared1:

So that was our adventure at Hollywood Studios LOL!

Know the exact spot. The story made me smile. Especially how you handled it. Too cute!!!

Wow, so sorry that happened, how awful! Thank God for that man! Soooo glad they didn't have to break out the saw.

Kids. The stuff they do to us.

My middle ds did the same thing at the Hall of Presidents last time we were there. He was 3 at the time. What is it with these midddle children:confused3 . I know the feeling, although all he had to do was just stop pulling and he slipped right out.

Forgive me for snickering. Until I read through, I was SURE the child with the stuck head was the little girl in the photo. She looks so much like my OWN middle child at that age. We used to call her "Ramona" after Ramona the Pest from the Beverly Cleary books. LOL

My own middle DD was the one that would get stuck, lost and would "run away" or threaten to put herself up for adoption at least once every summer, fight me tooth and nail to not brush her hair and rat me out to anyone who would listen to anything, including telling my mother in law I made everyone in the house take a nap so I could watch my soaps and tell the military Chaplain that church was fun and she wished they had it every week.

How I wish I had a photo available of her at the age of your adorable DD. She had the same hairdo and same grin... everyone just loved her to pieces!

She's become a lovely young woman but I miss those days. She kept me on my toes and looking back, it was a blast. Enjoy your girls!

I do have to add that this is the same child who tripped over the curb at MK while waiting on the parade and scraped her knee.....she also fell backwards down a small set of steps at the Honey I Shrunk The Kids Playground....as well as tripped over a concrete wheel stop in the parking lot and came within an inch of cracking her forehead/mouth on the ground....oh, and she fell backwards off of the fancy car in front of the Grand Floridian and broke her fall with the back of her head. That one really scared me as I was afraid she could have a concussion or something because she smacked it really hard.

This was all within one week!!!! And no, I'm not a neglectful parent LOL! If anything, I'm overprotective....imagine what would happen if I was not LOL!

Oh gosh, glad your daughter is Ok and a suitable hero was on the spot to rescue her.
My son got his head caught on the railings of our stairs when he was a little fellow and when he saw me coming towards him with a saw he managedat the last second to pull his head out. To this day he insists I was going to cut his head off:confused: and I have to keep reminding him that I was going to saw off the wooden railing.

Give your precious girl a big Koala cuddle from me. Thanks for sharing your story.

Trish

Second children are something else! Ours walked at 9 months in order to get to the Christmas tree. She also figured out how to hook her toes into the molding of the kitchen cabinets and drawers to climb onto the cabinets.

We have one like that.. We call her "gracie" because she's so full of balance and grace lol.

OH, I can so relate to your DD and she'll probably NEVER live this moment down. I am 35 years old and I still get teased about getting my head stuck in the bars at a hotel on a family (along with close neighbors) vaca when I was about 6.....tell her to just to grin & bear it :)

My son did that a few years ago in Epcot in the smoking area over by the Nemo ride and Coral Reef, luckily I was able to pull the bars hard enough and wife could pull him out. I had thought the same thing too about someone having to come and cut them out.

OMG, I have to laugh, because it's something my younger DS would do! He's a handful for sure, but we love him!
I'm glad your DD is ok!

That is funny (now!). I'm so glad she's okay -- oh, kids! They'll turn your hair gray, definitely!

there really is something about that second child! My second child (the middle boy) managed to get stuck in his crib bars and the bars on our kitchen chairs many times:scared1: I panicked many times that we would have to call the fire department and one time I thought he broke his arm:sad2: ! He tends to "venture" away from whoever is watching him and he just has a personality all his own:rotfl: He is definetly our most adventursome and trouble seems to follow him whever he goes
But, we love him to pieces:lovestruc

I'm so glad your little one is ok:thumbsup2 ! There is just no telling what can happen!

We leave in 10 days, so I'm sure I'll have some stories to tell!

I am so sorry this happened to you and your little one. I admit I giggled but my son informed me that this is not funny and I should say I am sorry. So, I am sorry.

This reminds me so much of my sister! She was on the balcony of my Dad's apartment and she wanted to look down at the people below so she stuck her head between the iron bars. My Dad and stepmom tried to get her head out and had no luck. So my Dad put butter all over her head and she finally slid out! What a sight! Screaming 4 year old with butter all over her head!

 kids sure can take a few years off ya huh? Glad you DD is ok and it all turned out well. Thank goodness for the mystery hero. :thumbsup2

Note to self: Pack a stick of butter for Disney, in case DD gets her head stuck between some bars...

:lmao:

Sorry, I couldn't resist! So glad to hear your DD is fine. My stepson was quite a "gracie" too, he could trip over his own two feet standing still!

You can usually have them go through the bars. Once the head is through, the shoulders will usually fit through and so you slide out on the other side. Most people try to pull them out the same way they came in but it's easier if they just continue through the bars onto the other side. Of course, this wouldn't be good if they were on a balcony, etc. but if they are on the ground, just turn their shoulders sideways and step out the bar sideways, one leg at a time. The head is usually the biggest part on the child and is also the less malleable. Shoulders and legs can me moved and positioned easier than a head.
