My cat's sick, like really sick, she won't eat or anything, and hardly moves. When I pet her I can feel her bones. Anyway, I'm really scared that she's going to die during my trip, and I know I'll feel guilty if I'm away when she dies. :guilty: I'm not going to cancel my trip, but I will feel really bad if anything happens to her. :guilty:

I don't want to sound harsh, but please take her to the vet tomorrow. If you aren't going to be home, have someone else take her. I love WDW as much as just about anyone, but it's not fair to leave her to suffer because it interferes with a vacation.

My parents will have her when I'm at WDW, so it's not like I'm abandining her, I still hope she'll get better somehow.

It sounds like you should take her to the vet before you leave. I don't think you need to cancel your trip, but it really sounds like the vet should take a look at her before you go.

I hate to be mean, but if she's that sick, she's probably suffering a great deal. Please take her to the vet before you go. It may be time for her to go, and if that happens, you'll feel terrible if you aren't there with her. It's also probably not good to stress your parents out about it, either.

I feel bad for you and the cat. Do everyone a favor and take the cat to the vet before you go.

I love my kitties(have 3) so I understand how upsetting this can be. Are you thinking about taking her to a vet? Is she old? Has she been sick long? I hope she can get better or at least not suffer. Pixie Dust:paw:

I have a 17 1/2 year old cat with bad arthritis and I have done everything possible for her. I too hate leaving her home (with my parents) and everytime I do go I give my mother instructions on what to do if she did die. I have another trip planned in December and I have already once tried to put her down but bailed at the last moment. However back to your problem, if your cat stopped eating altogether that is a very, very bad sign. We had one cat that had the feline aids (not sure exactly what it was called) and he stopped eating and he had to be put down. You should really call your vet first thing in the morning and get an appointment for tomorrow.

She's seven years, and she was fine the day before yesterday. She has always been skinny, but she's always been jumpy when she knows she's about to get fed, but the last two days she's been completly disintrested. Except she has always liked to drink from the sink faucet, and she jumped in the sink earlier for a drink, which I took as a good sign, and also was being cuddly. My trip's on Tues, so don't know if I'll be able to get an appointment at the vet.

If you call your vet tomorrow and tell them she is lathargic and not eating they will get her in. I may be nothing more than a bug of some sort. Probably something they can take care of with medicine. She may have gotten into something that made her sick too. She may simply be dehydrated. Please take her to the vet and have her checked.

If you didnt' feel well... lathargic and not interested in food... you'd go to the doctor wouldn't you?

PLEASE call your vet first thing in the morning! I guarantee as soon as she hears the symptoms, she'll have you bring your kitty in ASAP is this could be very serious. Trust me, you'll regret it if you don't.

Three years ago right about this time, we were readying for a 10-day trip to WDW and one of our four kitties wasn't feeling so hot. She was 9 and overweight, but otherwise had never had any health problems. She never even upchucked hairballs like the other cats. Well she suddenly started throwing up a couple of times a day - nothing but clear or yellow liquid. Right after she would act really "out of it" for a minute or so, then snap back to normal. She was otherwise fine, eating, acting normally, etc. I was concerned enough to call the vet, who made an appointment to see her upon our return. In the meantime, we always had a pet sitter come to the house a few times a day while we were gone, so we let him know and left him with the usual emergency information.

My kitty had a major aneurism and died while we were gone. I still feel guilty that I didnt' take her to the vet before we left, even though it didn't seem that serious. I'm not even sure it would have changed anything -- it may have even been a situation where they did find it and she would've had to have been put down, but at least I would have been there for her. I'm crying as I type this, I still feel so bad about it.

PLEASE for your sake and your kitty's, TAKE HER TO THE VET ASAP!!!

If you can't get an appointment for tomorrow, then I would take her to the vet during hours and insist that she be seen. Vets are a very kind breed and will not turn you away. But I'm sure if you explain how you are going away they will give you a time.

Your vet SHOULD see her if you call & tell her what's going on. If not your vet, SOME vet will, I bet. Please, you have to get her to eat. Offer her tuna juice or Beech Nut baby food (cannot have onions in it, so Beech Nut is a good bet) because a cat not eating can cause health problems over and above what is already wrong with her.
Seven years is young still. Your cat is sick, not old. PLEASE take her to the vet.

No reason why a seven year old should be showing these symptoms. She could be suffering from poisoning or have a serious illness like an infection. Please, please, do the responsible thing and take her to the vet ASAP!

Call the vet and they will squeeze you in!

Best wishes for a quick recovery for your cat. We leave this Tuesday and our dog had surgery last Monday. Katy got many well wishes from everyone here on the Dis, so I also would like to pass along hugs and kisses to your cat :love1: . I hope you get nothing but good news from the vet.

A five year old cat we were cat-sitting developed the same symtoms. Lethargic, throwing up, not eating. Vet diagnosed a serious urinary tract infection. Immediate treatment. Success.
Take the cat to a vet (if you can afford it.)

This is very serious and this cat MUST go to the vet!! In most places it is a crime to not provide proper veterinary care. If you can afford it?!?!!? If you can't afford proper veterinary care then you can't afford a pet and you certainly can't afford a trip to WDW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Forgot to add that quick weight loss in a cat cat be extremely dangerous as well. I work at the Humane Society here in our town and there is NO vet in town who does not take emergency calls from their clients.

I am so sorry to hear about your cat. I have one cat, Daisy, who is like my baby. If anything happened to her, I don't know what I would do. I agree with the other posters to take her to the vet before you leave. I am a cat lover and I hate to hear about cats being sick.

not to scare you but our vet told us cats don't usually show how sick they are till they are really sick...we had pet who went from seemingly fine to sick to dead in a few days( had urinary tract problems). if you can't take him in have someone else do it. their urinary tracts can become blocked and their bladders actually can explode...you really need to get to the vet
